Great video and exactly what we were looking for. Did you walk to all the Quintas or just the first one? How long did that take? (Which I don’t really want to do because of the restrictions and We’d like to visit Portuguese owned Quintas if possible and want to pick our own meal. @@aliyiapatterson-brooks5646Hello, I'm glad my video provided you with useful info. The first two Quintas (Bomfin and Carvalhas) are very close to each other and right in the heart of Pinhao, no need for a taxi there. Same thing with the small place for a quick lunch, it is a 3 minute walk to Quinta do Bomfim. Quinta das Carvalhas is on the other side of the river, but it only takes you 5 minutes to cross the bridge for Quinta do Bomfim. I wouldn't take a tour, there is really no need for it. The last Quinta (Quinta do Jalotto) is on the top of the hill behind Pinhao. From the train station take a cab, they have a fix rate of 10 Euros to drive you to the top (the point where I flew the drone towards the end of the video). From there, it is a short 4 minute walk to the Quinta do Jalotto. This Quinta is small, but the views from the top make it a wonderful spot to sit down and do some wine tasting. Hope this helps :)
@@aliyiapatterson-brooks5646 I stayed for two nights in an Arbnb in Pinhao. Everything is a short walking distance from every interesting point. Please watch the video again to check the train number. You cannot go wrong, it's a 2-and-a-half-hour trip from Porto (Campanha train Station) and the train runs three or four times a day. Take the early train at 7:20 am (please check video for details) that goes almost empty at that time. If you need any other info, please do not hesitate to ask me. P.S. Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing such a gorgeous area of Portugal. Question, after your train ride to Pinhao, how di you get around? Do the winery have specific schedules?
We enjoyed Portugal. It has a rich history. It's geographical location makes it unique for commerce, organic food and fishing. I share the sentiments of the entire group. ONE LO VE.
I can’t remember exactly which boat company I used, there’s like 4 or 5 companies and they all do very similar tours. Excellent video, very useful and practical information. What boat trip did you get from Pinhão? Was it the two hour return trip up to Tua and back? We are going there next week. I’ll try to decide whether to just get the train to Pinho, maybe visit a port house and do the 2 hour boat trip to Tua and back OR to instead get off the train at Régua, have a look around there and then do the slightly longer one-way trip on the boat from Regis to Pinhao. We would only have one hour in Pinhao then before getting the train back to Porto. I heard that the scenery is nicer upstream from Pinhao? Thanks
The two hour boat I believe it’s a bit too long, I would suggest the one hour tour and that extra hour spend it at a wine tasting. As for Regua, hmmm not much to see there. Much better if you go straight to Pinhão
@@GoTravelPlanet thanks for your replies. I think that you can only do a 2 hour trip from Pinhao on the boat.
