The airline was started because Lion Air was delinquent on the lease payments of 30 of their 737-900ERs during covid. Subsequently, these were repossessed by the lessors (and later got bought by delta). Needing to make up for the lost capacity, the airline group leased lots of older A320s from different lessors. There were some good articles about it in the Air Finance Journal at the time. To my knowledge, the 737-900ER lessors are still fighting Lion in court for the arrears in lease payments.

Garuda turned out to be on par with SIA for comfort and food etc, also have got their safety issues up to scratch. You could have taken the train from Jakarta just about all the way to Bali if you had time, more comfortable than UK trains and their version of first class is quite affordable too. Noel I was in Jakarta on the 14/03 catching a South China Air flight, on a long way back to Brisbane via China. We bused out to our A321XR and parked next to it was the ARJ-21 TranNusa you flew on. It was just such a coincidence as I only watched your video the night before 🙂
Thanks for the video, Noel. One of the reasons (in the past) that explained the poor safety record of Indonesian airlines is they grew and expanded too fast. Indonesia has a huge population (approximately 273 million) and is a vast country with tens of thousands of islands. There is a high demand for air travel to enable people to move across the islands so any airline will have business. Purchasing aircraft is easy but setting up systems within which the aircraft are operated and maintained, for example, flight crew with the necessary experience, maintenance crew, cabin crew, ground crew and ATC is the difficult part. When an airline grows fast (with several aircraft and routes) without corresponding human resources and technical growth then something has to give. I believe Indonesia has improved its safety record. Their flag carrier (Garuda) and other carriers including Lion Air were removed from the EU blacklist. I learned a new word from this video...."Chiropractor". Thanks again Noel and I'll see you on the next one.
I just had my first flight since the Covid pandemic. Flying from Inverness Airport to London Luton on Saturday morning, returning from London Gatwick back to Inverness in the evening, allowing me a day out in London. EasyJet were once again absolutely superb and I actually much more comfortable than flying with BA. I really couldn’t fault them in any way. Just because something is budget doesn’t mean a tatty aircraft or poor service.
Well sadly, Super Air Jet is sketchy. The plane does have weird smell. I don't know if it's feces or the perfume they use. But it smells different compared to other airlines like Lion Air or AirAsia.
You gave me flashbacks to my first international flight, with the broken seat! We were flying Qantas, to Perth. The only seats together ( I was newly married and we were going to spend time with family there and here in New Zealand) were in the smoking section, thankfully at the front. As we climbed, so the back of my seat jolted out of position. I did all I could not to fall back. I made the flight attendant aware but was told they had no other seats so I had to cope until we got to Singapore! It was agonising - I was leaning forward, not touching the seat, the entire time and by the time we landed, was almost in tears, exhausted and hungry, as eating was impossible in that position. No apology from Qantas, nothing - seems I didn't make enough of a fuss as the response I got told me that had I made the crew aware, they had empty seats in BUSINESS class, that I could've been moved to since we were underway! Suffice to say, I've never flown with them since!
Ahh! The delightful Victoria Bus Station in Nottingham, glad you're missing home. This sounds like a trip above and beyond the call of duty, but as you say it got you from A to B. You need a top class trip to recover.
last time flying with super air jet during last eid holiday, me and my pregnant wife got more than 2 hours delay (schedule is 19.45, iirc flight is around 22), all their ground crew magically vanished from the gate area and they're not giving any delay compensation at all

Not trying to sell overpriced crisps sounds like a win for me! Remember flying on Air Asia at 1am, the lights being bright as hell and then trying to sell stuff the entire time.
Reminded me of People Express. The coach service was simply like third class on the Titanic. BUT it got you there. Thing is though.... their first class was superb!
All the condensation - mist - that was coming from the AC - especially in the first part of this video was disturbing - as an Air Line Brat who grew up flying - I have never seen it quite that bad - may have had a little to due with the Lovely aroma originally formulated for Grey Hound and the Port Authority of New York bus station. Best wishes from Arizona
I don't even know if they fly this route, but I kept imagining the mortality rate of a Super Air Jet flight all the way across Indonesia, from Medan in Sumatra to Jayapura in New Guinea - which is farther than San Francisco to Boston and is an almost 6-hour nonstop flight. I know I certainly wouldn't survive it.
Jayapura not in new guinea. Jayapura in papua Indonesia. Papua and Papua New Guinea its Different country. Papua in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea in PNG.
@@infotvchannel-uj7zf, don't be annoying. Nobody but YOU talked about PAPUA New Guinea or said that Jayapura was there. The whole island is known as New Guinea all over the world. It's the same thing as if I had said that Balikpapan is in Borneo and you corrected me that no, it's not in Borneo, it's in Kalimantan... Duh! So, YES, Jayapura IS in New Guinea, the world's second-largest island, which is partly in Indonesia, partly in Papua New Guinea. I wrote nothing wrong and do NOT stand corrected.
Well, the price gap with full service flight is usually not that much (exception Garuda... always double - triple price, it's better to get business class from Batik). Due to "famous" low cost airline punctuality rate, I would rather to choose full service flight, unless no other option.
Wowza, someone needs to check the audio on your videos. This isn't the first time the music's blasted my ears off after the voiceover finishes on take-off.

You know. I ride on Lion Air once from KNO to BDO (now closed Hussein Sastranegara Airport). My plane didn't land for 7 to 9 hours. Literally hurts my back & somehow got diverted to CGK.
Holy Cow, I think I am as tall as you and watching this video almost gave me back pain too. Doesn't look like a nice experience at all however Lord Noel did it with a smile. Thoroughly professional, Well done and thanks for the weekly dose. Cheers, Lord!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Noel not surprised about hygiene onboard you've mentioned they should be more aware as Bali is an international destination not just any other place.
Knowing the aviation sector of Indonesia it's time they pulled up their socks on safety measures. Cheers Gowra
Lmao....your facial expressions when trying to describe the smell made my nose twitch and sniff the air around me 🤣🤣🤣. Kudos for staying strong 💪. ❤❤❤ the channel!!!! PS thank you for No Loo review.... can't even imagine WTH the smell would've been inside it nor, what your expressions might have been then 😮🤢🤮.
Oh dear I wish I had seen this before booking my flights 😩 Flying them today from Bali to Jakarta. 😂😂😂
That's why I always take a good hoodie. Can be a back pad, butt pad, pillow, or extra layer if it gets cold
Super air jet my beloved, might be headed back on them this summer
9:42 come on Noel turn the bloody music down, I can hardly hear what you are saying.
Your hotels always look awesome 🎉❤
Somehow I can tell what smell you are talking about. I used to think those are the Body Odor of previous passengers 🤣
It’s always a good day when Noel Drops a video
It's a *geographical* name regardless of political ownership or division.
I’m guessing the uniform designer was a fan of Buck Rodgers
I’ve been to that bus station and it is grim, nothing beats Digbeth in Birmingham in the 80s,that was shocking
12-minute video? At this rate, this channel will become a TH-cam shorts channel
0:01 I can give you an approximate guess for the laser's origin: Somewhere in Daan Mogot Baru, or somewhere along the Daan Mogot Road near to it
Wowza, someone needs to check the audio on your videos. This isn't the first time the music's blasted my ears off after the voiceover finishes on take-off.
My wife (nurse for many years), uses a trick of a slight swipe of Vicks Vapor rub under each nostril to combat questionable odors. 👍👍
😂😂😂😂 plane smelling like a good old Greyhound porta potty always informative enjoy your videos
Previously owned by Indigo Airlines in India - probably explains the strange smell - think of all the curry chicken dishes previously served on board.
Great Video. You always know it's bad when Noel isn't even brave enough to do the Lew review. LOL! Like I always say Noel Philips flys there so WE DON'T HAVE TO.
