Had one in the early 80s and loved it. It was a wheelie machine with about 1 to 2 kilometre range before the oil from the crankcase would get sucked into the engine and then lose power. In your next video you should show the starting sequence with the decompressor and a few kick-backs for us old guys to reminisce.

Absolutely stunning condition, whoever restored that should get a medal. My favourite bike of all time!. Lovely to see and hear the XT500 . You and the deer were lucky!. Keep it down to 90.

Thanks Peter. Yes the mechanic did a really professional job restoring this XT. As for the deer, l wasn’t going that quick but it still took me by surprise and made me jump! We both live another day 👍

I know exactly where this was filmed. I've ridden those roads on an XT500, too. Late 80's, ink still wet on my license, plodding all over the South West not needing to change gear.
Wish I still had that bike. Lovely to see one in such good knick.

Missed her so badly, but i was lucky, found one in mint condition with 77km from 81.
A Yamaha Seller had her all these years in his cellar !
I was nearly crying when touched her first time since 1982-1988.

Bought a brand new one in 1976.. many decades later the Yamaha importer offered me a brand new XT if i would trade for the 76. Time sure flies my friends.. ride safe.

Quite apart from the bike, it’s absolutely lovely to see some beautiful English country roads. Nothing better than a bit of good old nadgery 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Espectacular!!!!
    Saludos
    ( Deseo no incomodarle)

I had the little brother DT175 :( , as I remember the XT500 was quite fast at pulling away from the traffic lights !

The gas tank is the same as the one on my '76 XT500.

      Really?
I had a 76 one too, with the fown under exhaust and the frame number began with 000.
Was in 1987, so back then it wasn't all that ancient ofcourse.

I didn't like the Brown and Red 77 decals so I changed it

@@nickbrotherton5804 Ah! That explains it. I wasn't a fan of the '77 look either. Good choice on the '76 look. I think it's the nicest.

@@paulh.5691 That '76 exhaust was huge. I replaced mine with a Supertrap. Still kept the down pipe though.
