Thank you for this. Taking up the game again at near 70, after 20 years off, I'm watching a few videos on the short game, the one area that always gave me trouble. Watching this video, I discover that in the 40 years I did play, I never before hit a "chip", and I was just "hitting" the ball around the green, resulting in random, unreliable results.

@@Scratchgolfacademy I can already see a huge difference. The important thing is that now I know what I am trying to do, so I have something to practice, and practice I will. Before I didn't know what I was trying to do, so practicing didn't accomplish anything.

@@Scratchgolfacademy Thanks.I've always believed that to improve, you need two things for sure, and possibly a third. you need to know what you are trying to do, and you need to practice and practice. The third thing most people need at some point is some personalized instruction. Oh, and when it comes to golf, playing does NOT count as practice.

Interesting thing. I watched Phils video on chipping and he said to never chip with the ball between your feet. This video shows you how to chip with the ball between your feet.

Phil is super talented, but in my view takes a somewhat unconventional approach to short game shots. Plenty of top players play it about in the middle, give it a try

@@Scratchgolfacademy I'll always appreciate all of the free training and videos we get online. I've had a problem Chipping the last few months. I watched Phil's video and it was like a revelation where I could suddenly chip my last two rounds.
This video was recommended after I watched a pitching video of yours. I gave it a look and it was just strange to me how it was very different from what Phil taught.

Stay with it for a while, it will help your overall chipping game when you incorporate more conventional strokes.
