Thank you for this. I followed a pin from a very well-known & usually very reliable source that instructed the slices to be one quarter inch thick with oven setting at 250° for 3 hours on cookie sheets lined with parchment. 3 hours later the slices still were not dry & the rinds were browning & separating from the pith! So thank you, thank you, thank you, for sharing this! I can now reenter my kitchen with confidence & make the beautiful garland for my tree I've wanted all along! Merry Christmas!

I'm making this for my Christmas tree garland. I'm adding fresh cranberries to garland as well 🤗 I hope it turns out ok. I love this look. Going for that early american/primitive decorating.
Gorgeous work! I’ve been having lots of fun drying citrus this fall and find it mostly turns out really well. Would love to do some of the beaded citrus garlands for gifts! Tia 🌟🙏🏼🧡🙏🏼🌟
I want to try and make these for our Christmas tree. I’ve heard cats don’t like oranges and it’s one way to keep them out of the tree, so my question is does it lose it’s orange scent once dried? Thanks.
try using like a spatula or something to hold your oven door open a crack. Sometimes the lowest setting still isn't low enough, they're not really designed to dehydrate. Remember to flip every 30-60 minutes, I also move them around on my tray (my oven doesn't cook very evenly, so ill switch the slices from the center of the tray to the outer side)
@@maryhoward3543 i used quite a lot of paper towels which I laid on and under the slices; as oranges secrete juice, towels absorb it therefore I needed to replace them like 6 times
I will never use a folk because I am not inbred.
Why is this pinned, this is hilarious
I really like this idea I'm going to make a orange 🍊 and a lemon 🍋 one ...thank you for the inspiration
Ooh I love making lemon ones too!! 🍊🍋
grapefruit works great too for some color variation!
I wish I would've done grapefruits. They kinda shrink in the oven and my tree is huge 😅

Who is out here disliking stuff like this. It’s wholesome
And cute. Not hurting anyone and they come to dislike .. awful
You're all gonna get roaches smdh 🤣 this is a sign of privilege for sure. 🤣 (I didn't dislike the video but I do dislike it 🤣)
I think it’s an accident sometimes , I’ve looked a video that I’ve watched before and I’ve disliked it by pressing the button without realising

Can you add spices to it like cloves and cinnamon?
Has anyone baked them on something else besides a cooling rack? Like would a baking sheet with parchment paper work? Thanks!
Yes. Pat them dry well first before putting on baking sheet and turn every 30 minites
Can vouch. I’ve just done this in my oven and very low setting. They’re not perfect but I love them! Took 10 hours total.
Does this last year after year or does it need to be somehow preserved?
Keep them in a cool and dry location and they can last up to a couple of years! They go pale and brittle when they’re beginning to get too old.
Wow I love this ❤️ great for fall decor 😍
I will make this, wait for thursday for my review guys!
It’s been like 6 months lol

I’m afraid it does lose its smell - I suppose you could put a few drops of orange essential oil on each slice, or other ornaments you have!
Mine have come out half burnt and half moist 😭😭😭 I will try again!

Baking mine now. Take so long. Lol
i just made lemon ones but im making orange ones today
Does it makes your house smell?
Can you use anything other than fruit. Could you use kebab meat for example?
Thank you
how dry should the oranges be?
fairly dry! I've there's still moisture they will eventually mold. Your goal is to dehydrate them!
This is so cool! Anyone know what the song used is?

Hi I would love to make this tomorrow, what type of string shall I buy? :)
Mine just keep burning, idk what I'm doing wrong.
your oven temp might be to high
@roso the cat I tried reducing the temp on my second attempt and it seemed to do better but still burned before it completely dried.

i've sliced the oranges and just found out that the oven doesn't work :(
edit: gonna use a microwave
Oh no!! 😂 Did it work out in the end??
@@madebyhandbyallison yeah, they look okay :) thanks for the inspiration and tips this video is splendid
How do you do them in the microwave ?

Do they go bad?
As long as you don’t eat them they should last indefinitely I believe! But they can be eaten up to two years after drying if done correctly
