My best guess is that whatever this creature was that attacked you saw you as a threat of some sort or perhaps wanted your world for itself. It might have even crashed your game so it could use the village you built as a shelter of sorts.

Reminds me of a Personal story: I was at my pc, idk what I was doing I think I was working on a thumbnail or playing video games during a thunderstorm when our house got Struck by lighting.
