  • 4G solar security cameras are becoming more popular and today I deep dive into why you might want to get a 4G security camera or stick to a wifi security camera and talk about potential hidden costs that could rack up very quickly. I am mainly talking about the Rouom S1 4G security camera but the majority of 4G security cameras are all pretty much the same, so even if you have a different camera I still think you will get some useful information out of this video :)

Great video. Thanks. But people should be aware below 3 degree C /40 F most cameras will not be charging.

Of course you get similar models to this one which addresses some of the issues you found with this one (metal body instead of plastic, more secure mounting method, and no fake second antenna for instance).

Both Wi-Fi and cellular cameras are both good cameras Depending on your situation for your home. For instance I live in an HOA community so it'd be very difficult to mount on the building because of restrictions from the HOA.
Also in my situation where I want to mount a cellular camera I only get about 3 to 4 hours of Sun in that area per day. It may work it may not work but that's the down part for cellular for me. Plus that type of camera is big and bulky so I want to get something smaller where I can hide it where the HOA can't see it on my patio. For my situation I would probably go with the Wi-Fi cameras because they come in a lot of different types of sizes depending on the maker and you can disguise them a little bit more than a big bulky Cellular camera. When I get a single-family home I will probably put the cellular cameras around the home because the house will be able to get sun in different areas throughout the day around the home.
So my situation is I'm trying to hunt for Wi-Fi cameras that have the longest battery life. Each type of camera has its good and bad about them but overall they're both good types of cameras in my opinion. It's all based on your situation and your home .

Hello. I wonder if you can start the camera remotley thru the 4g network or does the camera only starts when it detects motion?

      Hello, I had 2 of these camera's.
You can access and see whenever you want, this wil use extra data.
When it is dark you can also switch on lights and anytime when live can speak/hear.
      The apps are different:
One working with the Ubox app >uses more data but can set how long it records when motion is detected.
And the other one worked with v380 Pro app >only records 4 seconds, but can set detection zones and non detection zones(this one got destroyed by the vandals/thieves).

10:00 those fake antennas are there because they are using the same shell from another camera they make that uses Wi-Fi, its a cost saving measure,

Yes, that data plan was a bit of a surprise, and then another amount to record to the cloud. Live and learn I bought mine just prior your video. Thanks for lettingothers know about the monthly costs and fees associated with a 4G Solar Security Camera. I think maybe mine will become a drink holder in a year.

It only eats up data when I open the app on my phone, right? I plan to install on at a beach as a surfcam, and just want to check the surf here and then for life feed without any recording.

4G Cameras are good for remote areas like farms. For that reason I would prefer them before the WiFi cameras.

Somehow the CCTV cameras which dnt use 4G lines also have costs in Wifi connections to view remotely.

It wil cost allot of 4g data, maybe a contract iot sim is a better option than prepaid.

Can you use the 4g cameras without a solar panel? I want to use it in my garage where there is no sunlight, no wifi but I have power

    • @mauritsvw
      @mauritsvw 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I'm sure there are indoor 4g cameras available that use normal power, and probably even have backup batteries in case of power failures. You also get solar types with a long extension cord between the solar panel and the camera, which could be sufficient for mounting the camera indoors but the solar panel outdoors.

Cheaper 4g camera's have 1 antenna active and another one is useless.

  • @Barrosy

Poorly designed camera. It's quite ironic to see some stranger can just take it off your wall like that. Also the antenna part, what the actual hell did the manufacturer think when they designed the cam? 😂

Or you have to pay alot to get a wired system that stores it on a hard drive.
