Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Some like the unboxings some don't. I find it quicker and more to the point by not doing them.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video. I guess the others are into "immediate gratification!"
I know this radio is discontinued, But, could still be found at a Hamfest. I might have picked this one if it had Green and Amber display - like the Kenwood - TM D710GA mobile radio. I got the iCom ID-880H. Still works. I just haven't used it in years since I picked up the Yaesu FTM400XDR in 2019.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I, as well, wish this had the dual screen color like the kenwood radios have.
Very informative. Thanks. I've had my ID-5100 for a few years but haven't used it. I'm getting interested again and will set up my antennas and get on the air Subscribed
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. Couldn't have done it with out your help! Thanks much! Now to start saving for the ID-51A
Thanks for the vid!!!! Nicely done. I had to stop quite a bit to find the icons on the radio, but got through it. You covered quite a bit in a short video. What did we do before TH-cam? Asian documentation for products, generally, is poor at best.
The one thing I did since it didn't detract from the functionality was NOT remove the clear screen protector off the screen and you can hardly tell it's there. I tell people if you can program a cell phone you can program a 5100.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. I agree this radio is easy to program. I like how you can enter an alpha/numeric tag while programming it so you don't have to have an extra step similar to Yaesu.
i like to buy one this weekend, i still dont know whats the different from D Star, fusion, wires x, can i use the ID-5100A on all this or just one, i have read the are to combine all in to one with DMR
Thanks for watching and the comment!! DARN stands for Disaster Amateur Radio Network (DARN). It is a bunch of linked repeaters that go from San Diego County to Los Angeles County, and possibly further.
You get a lock, by having the radio outside, i.e., in your car. I was filming indoors so I was not able to get a lock. Also doesn't help that my house is made with stucco. I didn't mention it because I thought how to get a GPS lock was understood. For future videos I will try to make sure I explain it all.
"Not going to bother with the unboxing video, I'll just show you the parts quick."
Well that's alone is an upvote right there.

Time 4:10, you wrap up the GPS discussion with a big fail. No GPS lock. How do you get a lock? Kind of skipped over that.
