So proud of you, Ocean! Keep updating us whenever you feel comfortable! As a vegetarian, considering going vegan, i'd love to watch some vegan "cook with me" or more "grocery haul". Keep trying! Love you!

I have been on a vegetarian diet for over 4 years. When I originally started all of my reasons were very good but over time I have started to struggle with disordered eating, and I’ll excuse myself for not eating enough food or eating enough nutrients bc I don’t eat meat. Over time it feels like my reasons for being vegetarian aren’t the same as they were originally. At first it was bc of morals and ethics but later it started becoming more about control. I’m thinking about switching to a pescatarian diet instead to heal my body but I still want to do my absolute best to try and be as sustainable as possible with what type of fish I buy and where they are sourced from. Thank for being so open about your relapse though Ocean! You’re vulnerability helps so many of us through our journeys too! 🩷🩷

Hey love! I just wanted to say that you should definitely consider adding fish and meat back into your diet, especially if you’ve experienced disordered eating. I was vegan for 3 years and now that I’m out of it, I 100% believe it was an extension of my disordered eating and another means of restriction and isolating myself from those around me. My health went completely downhill when I was vegan. Introducing high quality, grass fed, pasture raised animal foods has been the best decision of my life. Good luck to you on your journey and I hope you recover❤️

Making these food that you binge on part of your daily intake can help you not binge on them. Restriction leads to binging. It takes time but the urge to binge goes away if you have them regularly. Good luck!

Wishing you all the best in your recovery! So proud of you for recognizing your ED and wanting better for yourself. That's probably the most important part in the recovery journey as it will help with perspective through out your recovery. As you continue in your journey, your body will continue to crave the more nutritional foods as you eat more of them. Diet Dr. Pepper girlie over here but I only allow myself less than one can a day to try to keep the amount I'm ingesting low and drink either water, orange juice or milk at all other times.

Focusing so much on 'healthy' food doesn't seem like such a good idea for your ED... The salt in the beans is hardly an issue. Intuitive eating helped me a lot, often the reason we binge eat is because we're restricting. I found the only way to break the cycle is not restrict in the first place. I do really wish you the best

i binged vegan junk food so much so that’s why i want to eat ‘healthy’ and nothing wrong with that - it’s working for me! :) i feel much better fuelling my body with non junk foods

I had a similar comment in the previous video just because of the sheer amount of times “unhealthy” and “healthy” were said in many of Ocean’s videos - it may work short-term but that kind of binary thinking and assigning morals to food is often unconsciously triggering and feeds into compulsion(e.g. making you feel as if you have to start over with a fresh state/restrict after binging). If it’s not triggering to you at all then that’s amazing Ocean but please be very very gentle with yourself. The issue is not with wanting to eat food that is more nutritious, it’s the cycle of labeling food as good or bad and swinging from one extreme to the other to compensate

Hey Ocean!! Here a porridge suggestion 😀cook your oat flakes with any milk you prefer on the stove for a few minutes, till the milk is absorbed. Then put on top cashews, dark chocolate and sliced bananas. Very simple idea as you can see, but very yummy! Been eating this 6 times a week since 3 years (obsession) 😄

I had an ED 4 years ago, to this day my heart is still damaged and I can’t walk up stairs, can barely breathe majority of the day, struggle to sleep and pretty sure I will pass away soon and I’m only 20. My ED was basically I ate one slice of bread every day for a year and exercised every day for 2 hours while living off 100 calories . I was so lucky I didn’t die then if my dad didn’t report me to a hospital I would’ve been in a few weeks. Glad you don’t have to experience these side effects years later like I do.

sending love ❤❤ have you thought about delivery meal kits? I've looked into ones that give you all 3 meals & a snack that you store in the freezer so you're all set for the week /two. They make really healthy ones now and I'm sure there's a vegan one out there! I've just always liked the idea because you don't have to think or worry which for me is the hardest part trying to stay healthy and consistent

👏👏👏 to nutrition! I have now seen Vegan Protein Shakes with 30G of protein per serving (and with nutrients from 50 Super foods). I had usually found Vegan Protein Shakes to average 21G per serving in the past, but "That has been surpassed." Protein shakes you either mix yourself or get a good deal on can even be economical in terms of nutrition per dollar spent and time spent preparing.
Also, fruits and vegetables "naturally" have the antioxidants that they say slow the aging process, too. What you are in the process of doing is doable. And Best Wishes to You and Costco this holiday season!

Hey Bestie big fan of veggie gravy. If you have flour, butter and veggie broth you can make homeade veggie gravy if you are looking for a super easy way to feel proud of your new cooking that's a super easy recipe.
Equal parts butter and flour. You put the butter in the pan then add a little flour at a time keep stirring you will continue to stir and let it cook till it darkens a little bit then add your broth and seasonings and boom!! 🙂
I absolutely love to cook and there seriously is nothing more empowering then being able to do it yourself and see all the wonderful nutrient dense foods you are putting in your body. If you ever need help with recipes I would love to share some favorites!
I am so proud of you for continuing to push yourself to get better and feel better. I know we are strangers but please know that we are SO proud of you. 🙂

Hi Ocean :) I just wanted to share something with you. For 3 years I had an intense binge disordered eating cycle. I would eat adequate plant based meals throughout the day and then binge on vegan junk food and chocolate at night as my body was not getting enough calories from just plants. Little did I know, this was my body’s reaction to protein and fat malnourishment. Our brains and our bodies thrive on saturated fat to build strong neural pathways, our nerves rely on saturated fat for the myelin which surround them. Our muscles require protein with a full amino acid profile to function and maintain. Our skin needs collagen. However, the only means to obtain healthy saturated fat, collagen, all of the B vitamins etc is through the consumption of meat, dairy and eggs, unfortunately. Eating these foods again has completely reshaped my mind, body and soul. I used to be so anxious, brain foggy, obsessed with food and my body image. I can see that you struggle with this too. My hormones were so out of wack, I had painful acne and huge dark circles under my eyes, no matter how much I slept. Your body tells you what it needs, and when you are eating fake meats etc, it’s your body yearning for the real deal. It’s natural to eat animal products and I know the factory farms are awful, I’ve seen them all myself. I used to be very heavily into all of the vegan documentaries and activism. However, putting your own life and health on the line for these animals isn’t going to stop it from happening. I understand it’s so hard and you want to stop it all but you must think about your own body. Veganism was an extension of my disordered eating and I’m not saying this will be the same for your case, but you may come to understand that deep down, veganism is restrictive by definition. You deserve to be nourished and healthy. I say this all with love and hope in my heart. I wish you all the best sweetheart ❤️
