I actually loves when you use 'affordable' instead of 'cheap'. Coz while it cheap for tourists and foreigners, its still not really that cheap for locals from inflation and currency exchange pov. So 'affordable' i think a proper middle ground to describe a cost of living for people coming to Malaysia.
The entire time they were talking about this I thought it was kinda tone deaf considering prices are not very cheap for local Malaysians. It's just a privilege that comes with currency exchange. Life is always easier for foreigners with the money, isn't it? I mean happy for them but it feels a little tone deaf to me.
@rotipandan totally agree. Good luck to them, but yea as long as they are earning a Western wage its going to be cheap. Maybe talk to a local who's earning a local wage and talk about the cost of living
I just so love that you have found such acceptance in Malaysia. Many years ago I visited for several months when my sister was teaching in Kuala Trengganu. I was brought up in the Christian Faith but I found the acceptance and friendliness of the Malaysian people across all Faiths, absolutely heart-warming with zero discrimination. It resulted in me returning more than half a dozen times for extended visits, over the past 45 years, even though my sister returned to New Zealand 25 years ago. Friendships across different Faiths built during that first visit, still continue today.

If you ask me as a foreigner, Malaysia is a perfect country for me, Masha'Allah.

Great choice. As an American who was just there 2 weeks ago, I was in awe. As a solo traveler, I do have to be mindful of what I spend money on and I was way under budget. Yes, there are plenty of cafes and coffee spots to replace Starbucks and they’re a lost tastier.

Welcome to Malaysia. I lived in Canada for 8 years before moving back to Malaysia. I checked out your previous videos on the reason you moved to Malaysia. I'm sorry you had to Canada for reasons you couldn't control. I'm surprised to hear that Canada is no longer what it used to be. I hope Malaysia tick all the boxes in your checklist for you to relocate here permanently.
Asalam walaikum Saleh family! I have been patiently waiting for this video since you announced you were thinking of leaving our “good” old Canada! Not surprised by any of the great feedback you shared! Very happy for your family Allahumma Barik. Would it be possible to do a video on the job opportunities for expats in Malaysia? As well as the salary in comparison to Canada as this can greatly impact the affordability factor. And also, the school system and costs. Thanks again for sharing your journey thus far and Ramadan Mubarak!
Despite everyone can understand English, it is better for you to learn the national language. It shows respect and it will bring you closer to the locals. The language use roman alphabets, it is not hard for you to catch up, only need some sound tuning. Just read local newspapers to practice, it doesn't matter if you don't understand a thing, only to make use of the words and the sound. I learned English by reading books, imagine that...
Hi! I hope you don't mind me asking, so in professional setting, at corporate office for example, what language is used? And is it different in public area? Like at market or malls, do people automatically use English with each other? I'm Indonesian but have never been to Malaysia.
@@moniquea2497 Well, it depends, in most non-Malays companies they will likely use their own languages other than English, in Malay companies, why bother use English? As an Indonesian you shouldn't have any problem since our language is so similar if not the same 😂
@@johankasah1121 Yes, like me, I know English, I can get into any English sites, news, medias, ect...I can chat with English speaking people. I know much about the western world through English. That's how powerful knowing one's language, we can get into their world, we can understand what, why and how things are the way it is.
I wish more muslims from the west or china will migrate here to Malaysia. The latest data from Malaysia My Second Home program, 44% of the applicants are from China alone, followed by South Korea and Japan. We want more western muslim families here especially you guys are used to multiculturalism like us.
It will be only possible if Malaysian government make it easy for foreign Muslims to come to Malaysian. I am watching some videos people explaining the visa process and its not easy and the programs are build in such a way that only rich people are attracted .
I looveee tealive too! Their roasted milk tea is amazing! Annddd now I have a new addiction, coffee with cheese foam from Bask Bear Coffee ❤ so many options in Malaysia. Welcome!
But what i'm waiting is if they renounce their Canadian citizenship and apply for Malaysian one. That would be great if they keep on lingering on Canadian passport they are holding.
Its kinda weird to compare countries it doesn't work like that i mean if your getting a wage back home and living in malaysia absolutely your going to be living like royalty, but if you completely move your life to malaysia and work there and get a malaysian salary i guarantee suddenly things wont be cheap anymore

I'm so happy to have found you guys. We are trying to move from Canada to KL in January along with our three little kids. I'm also considering homeschooling. I'd love to know more about who you're homeschooling through and how you found the homeschooling community in Malaysia
Yes Malysians are very friendly, i know that while visiting makkah-madina, love to visit malysia, but one thing like to know that is earning, what are the business opportunities in malysia? What kind of business and investment require to start? Yes now i started searching that on google and youtube. Appreciate your feedback.
Well done for moving! Please could you talk about higher level schooling for people who have university age kids? What is the standard of university education? Secondly, the medical system: how good are the hospitals? Do you need to buy private insurance? Is it very pharma heavy or is the country open to alternative therapies like homeopathy, naturopathy, herbalism, etc? Third, jobs: are you guys working there or planning on starting a business? How difficult/easy is it to start a business or find a job? What is the paperwork for moving? How easy was it? Why KL? Have you explored other places in Malaysia? Can foreigners buy a house in Malaysia? Would it be lease-hold? Could they buy land and build their own house? Lastly and most importantly, my reason for wanting to do hijrah is to go somewhere that doesnt react the way many countries reacted during covid, i.e. no forced vaccinating, no villainising people who dont wear masks, no forcing people to isolate etc. How did Malaysia respond to covid and how intrusive was its govt with re: to the above?
Allow me to answer certain of your questions here. There are bunch of Uni that offers a wide range of courses to the foreigner. And fees might be a bit higher than the locals. But there are also International Uni that offers that to foreigner, most International Uni u can find in KL. For the medical needs, our govern hospital also gives the same treatment to the foreigner, not sure for the insurance, but most of the expats have their medical insurance from the companies. U can also buy a house in Msia. Documentations and everything is pretty much equally the same as other Msian. Look for the International developer, but its a bit difficult to build your own house in Msia land. Too many documentation needed for that. And yup we are open to many meditating methods. U can openly search for the community u wanted if you had a specific one. Hope that helps

Great choice. As an American who was just there 2 weeks ago, I was in awe. As a solo traveler, I do have to be mindful of what I spend money on and I was way under budget. Yes, there are plenty of cafes and coffee spots to replace Starbucks and they’re a lost tastier.
Ramadhan Kareem Salah Family!enjoy ramadhan here and enjoy iftar at mosque with family and 'moreh' after tarawih
I m a Muslim in the west, InshaAllah I will also leave one day. You made the right choice Elhamdoelilah.
I am hoping that they would renounce their Canadian citizenship and passport and get a Malaysian citizenship.
I just came from a video of where a channel asked why you start the hijab business.. feel blessed when you are in my country.. hope you are experiencing the best of the ramadan month here in Malaysia..
Malaysia is one of my favorite countries among the places that I visited so far❤
It’s very nice to see, that you are in Malaysia
Are u in Malaysia
I love your videos. I'm a Christian from Chicago but I love learning about other cultures and places ❤
We too have many imperfections, we welcome you here but please be patient with us ya. We are improving day by day, just bare with us. And may you have a great stay insyaallah.
❤
Asalam walaikum Saleh family! I have been patiently waiting for this video since you announced you were thinking of leaving our “good” old Canada! Not surprised by any of the great feedback you shared! Very happy for your family Allahumma Barik.
Would it be possible to do a video on the job opportunities for expats in Malaysia? As well as the salary in comparison to Canada as this can greatly impact the affordability factor. And also, the school system and costs.
Thanks again for sharing your journey thus far and Ramadan Mubarak!
I am interested in knowing these details too, plus the process of residency/immigration
Hello from Texas! I’m glad y’all have made a decision you feel would benefit your Family. Blessings to you all
MashaAllah, I hope everything goes smoothly for your family transition in Malaysia, me and my family are planning too from usa.
As an Indonesian you shouldn't have any problem since our language is so similar if not the same 😂
True, if you speak malay you will have a great advantage and open up a whole new range of opportunities.
@@johankasah1121 Yes, like me, I know English, I can get into any English sites, news, medias, ect...I can chat with English speaking people. I know much about the western world through English. That's how powerful knowing one's language, we can get into their world, we can understand what, why and how things are the way it is.
@@MizanQistina Malaysia aint like Singapore, we still use our national language, unfortunately not as high as Indonesia
Happy for you, Alhamedolilah. Can you please cover the visa process and the visa category you are applying for? JAK
Only from china is so special
We welcome you here!
Thank youuuu
So happy for you guys. All the best. Your doing it for your children and they will love you for it when they look back one day. Allah bless you
Oh my goshh your wife is so pretty. Welcome to my country. Is nice to hv good ppl like u guys staying here. Love your vlogs ❤
I looveee tealive too! Their roasted milk tea is amazing! Annddd now I have a new addiction, coffee with cheese foam from Bask Bear Coffee ❤ so many options in Malaysia. Welcome!
I am glad you are weather happy in Malaysia!!
English is an international language !!
Cost of living is better there? Nice!!!!!
But what i'm waiting is if they renounce their Canadian citizenship and apply for Malaysian one.
That would be great if they keep on lingering on Canadian passport they are holding.
Make friends to local people, you will be amazed.....
Its kinda weird to compare countries it doesn't work like that i mean if your getting a wage back home and living in malaysia absolutely your going to be living like royalty, but if you completely move your life to malaysia and work there and get a malaysian salary i guarantee suddenly things wont be cheap anymore
Thanks for sharing. I would love a video on just the logistics of moving. Such as how you found a place, what items you brought with you, how you downsized etc.
This is going to be a fun one to film!
Thank you soo much for this video. young Muslim couples with children have now all the research done for them. Such valuable life saving information! May God bless your family. Ramadan Mubarak 🙏🏻
Congratulations on your move! Yes please do a video comparing countries you wanted to move to, and how you decided on Malaysia!
They already did that video. Check their video list
Me and my husband was also looking to move from The US(Florida)before we have kids to a place where we feel we belong and also closer to our home land India! Looking at ur journey looking forward to explore Malaysia in sha Allah!
May Allah bless Malaysia, some of the nicest people I’ve met are Muslim Malaysians, and you guys have Seyyed Naqib Al-Attas!
So non Muslim Malaysian is bad? What a narrow minded you got there
They're not lying when they tell you that food, rent, fuel and housing is super expensive in Canada. I know I live here!!
Welcome to the Salah family...may Allah ease your path here❤
Thank you for the update You guys look very happy. I wish you the very best in Malaysia..
i was in ottawa studying in the 80's. iftar was an around 930pm and subuh prayers will start at 330am. because i ate too much during iftar, i was still full to eat my pre dawn meal.... those were the days, alhamdulillah
Good to see our brothers and sisters in Islam from all over the world move to Malaysia.
you can try coffee bean if you prefer coffee n place to chill. if only coffee, i think a lot of seller selling coffee along the street.
We🇲🇾 welcome you here. Even Dr Zakir Nair choose Malaysia as his home.
Yes obviously I too as well 🇮🇳 indian.
Yes many indian like zakir nair love malaysia as new home
Zakir naik was deported and modi is after him
Wise choice masha'Allah
Home is where the heart is ❤❤
Nice to meet you both, I studied in Niagara Falls for my grade 13, in 1982 and then continued for my Degree in Computer Science in Quebec (Lennoxville) from 1983 to 1987.
So Canada is still in my heart with good memories , for almost 5 years of staying in some beautiful places over there.
Hurrah!
Thats realy great to find that this wonderful family has finaly chosen Malaysia for further dwelling. I am so happy for u guyz. Praying for your long healthy wealthy life. ❤❤
I am glad you and your family are happy in Malaysia. I wouldn't go back to Canada if I were you. UK, Ireland, Australia and Europe are much the same as Canada so you have made a good choice. Best wishes to you and your family for the future.
Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless Malaysia and the people of Malaysia and may it always be a wonderful Muslim country with wonderful steadfast Muslim community and a thriving economy! Ameen Summa Ameen! Good luck in your new home and may this home be filled with barakah and rizq! Ameen
Seems U guys in Malaysia, now it's time for U to explore Bazar Ramadan around Malaysia.
In Malaysia, other than spiritual meanings, it's also like festival food.
Salam Ramadhan. Thanks for promoting my country. Love from KL
You will love local “teh tarik” for sure. In time, you will not miss anything from Canada anymore.
HAPPY TO KNOW YOU ARE ENJOYING MALAYSIA. I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT LATER THIS YEAR. HOPEFULLY, WE CAN MEET. ILL BE GOING TO INDONESIA.
Both countries are beautiful ❤
For ease of communication, Malaysia is way better, English are widely spoken here
There are many other local franchised coffee place in Malaysia like Zus, GG, Kenangan or Bear Bask. Should try them out as well.
Great job! Enjoy living in Malaysia.
Please do a video on the process that you use to move.
You are safe where you are now. Cost of living sounds great❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well done for moving!
Yessss, I love your questions. I’m also thinking of making my Hijra and I wish they do a video on this.
Congratulations on finding a wonderful place for you and your family!
Waalekumsalam warhmatuAllah Beautiful presentation do you have explained very well indeed the comparison between CANADA and Malaysia thank you very much. The video is very clear sound is really clear. By the way, is called Turkiye, Have a wonderful life in Malaysia
That's not the question. He's not asking whether its Turkey or Turkiye.
He's asking whether its Turkish or Turkiyeish or some other word.
The first year abroad is always exciting and fun, the 2nd year gets tough due to social isolation. Granted comes down how close you are to family back home.
Enjoy.
You made the right decision. I live in Canada for 5 years as a student and never think twice for not staying on, and coming home to Malaysia is where my heart is even though the standard of living in Canada is much higher.
Lets pay zakat together..every state have their own zakat collector and they will contribute to needy..for KL area you can find PPZ.
As a Malaysian, this really made me be more grateful. Being born here, hearing everyone complaining about the weather, the politics, the wages. But seeing you loving the language, the tealive! I love that too!! I'm so grateful to be Malaysian, and welcome to malaysia!
You should try our local brand Zus coffee, their are everywhere now.
You guys should try ZUS coffee! Sooo happy to see you guys settling in well here in Malaysia. Welcome!

I just love how both of you said ice cream simultaneously like you both are meant to be for each other. Loving couple. Jazakallah.
Best of Luck to You & your fsmily❤ I am happy for You ❤
I'm not Muslim but it just makes so much sense to be in a country that lives in harmony with your religious values. I wish you well.
I'm a Malaysian living in Canada. We're not going to Starbucks or Tim Horton's anymore either. I've gone cold turkey. It's hard but whenever I'm craving some, I think of how much harder it is for the Palestinians 😭 Anyway, I visit Malaysia at least once or twice a year. I hope you'll find your tribe there and befriend the locals. You'll feel more at home and it'll make your life there much more enjoyable. Currently, I'm helping a couple of people who are planning to move there.
I'd like to ask ... Do u feel more discrimination or threatened about hajabi wearing Muslims in Canada, cause if I ever do plan to live there I don't like constantly living in fear that someone will attack because of that.😢it's been happening alot in America
Salam, my husband and I are also planning to move to Malaysia and I have a question! How easy or hard is it to get a green card or work visa. And how’s the work opportunities there? Thanks!
It is quite hard to get PR or citizenship even if you are married to a local.
Waalaikumussalam guys. Both of you made a right decision. Congratulation. Salam from Penang
I just love you guys. Thank you for keeping us in the loop.
❤️🙏❤️
From 2007 to 2009 spend marvelous time in Malaysia and still mis those days till day i wana settled down in Malaysia but unfortunately don't get chance again but one day i will visit Malaysia with my family
i am glad you are weather happy in Malaysia!!
Salam, congratulations! I'm so happy for you guys, I think it's a really good idea to move to a safer, warmer and more peaceful country. I've been thinking of it for years but didn't know which safe, warm and peaceful country to move to. Now, Malaysia sounds very tempting. Ramadan Mubarak by the way. May Allah grant you all your dreams during this blessed month.❤😊
Also transportation is much cheaper in malaysia
