Everyone is saying adjust the front brake but the front is pretty well where I want it. I can adjust it on the fly with the transmitter. The front brake has trim and travel adjustments on the transmitter. We can all adjust those fairly easy. There is nothing for the rear. I’m trying to see how you can get more overall braking power without the bike going nuts with all front brake.
I bet someone will come out with a functioning rear caliber brake that works in conjunction with the front brake but adjustable via travel. That would solve the motor braking issues. Or lets hope so.
If anyone has riden a motocross bike, powersliding around a corner and throttling out of the corner is key to turning quickly ....keep up the great vids
Finally!!! Thank you! Lol
Powersliding is not really possible since the Gyro tries so hard to keep the bike straight.
Great work !! I couldn't really tell the difference, until you turned it up to 100% braking. As for the programmer, that's just part of working with Spektrum equipment. It's way expensive, but it works, for a long time. I have Horizon planes, etc. , and the batteries are very expensive. They also self discharge to storage voltage ( huge, unless you take the time to do it manually ), and have better specs than most RC batteries.
Anyway, none of that really matters, and I watched a video where a guy was able to fit a 6500 pack in these. Run what you got !!
You may not realize how much help these videos give us , but I can tell you, they help a lot, when making a decision to drop 1K ( extra battery, and in Canada ) on a product. Real world use ( and abuse ) are worth more than any factory video !!
The best part of your channel, I know you are for real. You have never been a guy that just hypes stuff, and I really appreciate that. Thanks, and kudos from Winnipeg, Canada !!
I really appreciate this comment so much! It’s always been my goal since starting this channel to provide exactly what you explained for people. I’ve always been someone who works hard for my money so I know how hard it can be to spend that money on something that’s a let down.
I agree these videos are helpful and save me time tinkering around and breaking stuff, lol. Hobbywing is the same price. IDK why People like to hate on spektrum, but they have inovated so much over the years that we wouldn't be where we are at without them. I personally love their stuff. like you said, "It just works." Their customer service is top notch and worth every penny. So many people were able to learn to fly without instructors or simulators because of Spektrum, Blade, and E-Flite which are their sister companies.
Agreed! As a fellow Canuck from Canada his videos have helped immensely. Especially when determining if I wanted to upgrade the radio.
Ok ! I'm ready for more of your experience with the losi promoto mx. I'm ready. I've seen them all, your vids are the best in info. Thanks again.
I really appreciate that so much!!! I definitely have more on the way!!!
Dude I see your cars on the wall and man it makes me wish I was still doing rc. The hobby priced me out. Great video man cheers.
Now that's in depth. Awesome
Great vid, nice to see someone explore with tuning on these things.
Really appreciate that. Much more coming for sure! Having a blast with these things.
New to your channel. I got to run my bike in an open parking lot today for the first time...
And I'm messing with brake adjustment. Thanks for the info. I'll try your adjustment today.
Thanks
Have Fun
Man I stinking love this channel
You’re the man! Really appreciate that 🙏
Thanks for another great video!
When it looks like a bike you better ride it like a bike. Real good skills mate! Looking forward to driving you this thing on supermoto slicks!
Same here! Can’t wait to get those tires!!! Really appreciate the comment
Nice vid..I’m ok with my normal stock Esc braking..i just power slide at the corner and close the handle bars for tighter turns..i just replaced my Esc/motor gyro idk if this is a known weakness on the bike..I love it and abuse it well 😂
I'll say it again, your testing is great ! Every question I have, you address it with all of the follow up information, thank you ! How about a video riding slowly, making turns with out hitting the lean balls, huh ? I no you have done it.
Really appreciate that 🙏 I’ll have to try that out. I stay on the lean balls most the time in the driveway because it’s so tight I have to lean it all the way over to make the turns lol. You can definitely be smooth with it but I can turn basically 90 degrees by slamming the brake hitting those lean balls, spinning around and punching the throttle lol
“I’m just a red-neck out in the heat” LOL good enough for me, thanks for sharing!
Haha! Best I can do!
Its going to take lots of tuning, tweaking, trial and error, to find the right combination for each hobbiest. Just like the real thing. Great technical inform and video.👍
Thanks! I feel like the tweaking and tuning will add a lot of fun to this thing. Especially on a track!
@@2fmrc it would be neat if there was a artificial turf/ and dirt combinations course.
@@johnclemans7802 that would be cool!
I'm soaking up your information. Thank you very much for your testing results.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching and commenting. I don’t know much really but I experiment quite a bit lol
I'm look for a little more info on how to adjust the steering sub trim.
@@tonyrogers1683 there’s a knob on the transmitter for the steering trim. I’d like to play around with upgrading the steering servo soon but the servo horn/saver setup is pretty proprietary looking so I’d at least have to get a servo that fits straight up to it for now. A better servo wouldn’t really need the saver but they say the front wheel really bounces around if you’re not running one. I hadn’t pulled the servo or anything yet. It’s really been running so well I hated to even bother any of it. I figure I’ll have issues soon enough and have to start modding it at that point lol
I've set the sub trim, when it's running at quarter throttle. It's good till I shut it off. The when I turn it back on, trim is out again.
@@tonyrogers1683 maybe the cheaper stock servo not centering up well?
You need to play with your front brake also. I have been playing with these things for 25 years. Mostly 1/5th street bikes but you will need to compensate that from caliper to get the bike to dive properly
From my real street bike days, fr brake does most of the stopping.
Yeah the front is decent atm. Much more front and it gets wild on loose stuff. Just trying to get more overall because the rear has no adjustment on the transmitter.
Great work on these videos…
For a fun video I would be curious to see how the bike handles with no rider. No rider running would give us an idea of what the bike itself handles like. I know we will all run riders but I suspect no rider driving would feel significantly different.
Keep up the good work!
Really appreciate that. I’ll have to try it out! I’ve seen a few people say without the rider they damaged the brake cable because when the bike rolls it grinds the cable on the ground. I could wrap it or something and definitely try without the rider.
I’m not sure how the slipper clutch works on this one but wouldn’t having a loose slipper like you do also make the rear brake weak? Because it’s a motor brake so the motor could be dead stopped but the rear tire will still be rotating.
I wonder what rr lockup would do on corner entry on dirt.. guess I'll find out.
With adjusting the slipper loosely would that not also counter the brake force applied in the esc % or is it some form of one way bearing in there?
So what about the front brake, what kind of option are there for it? Thanks for all you videos on this new machine. Cheers
There’s trim and travel knobs for the front. Much more front and it gets wild on loose stuff. Just trying to get more overall because the rear has no adjustment on the transmitter.
When's the version 3 programmer coming out?
You need more grip (on the tires) to transfer more brake power to the concrete so better tires should be the way.
If you take out the 2 bottom screws that center section pops out much easier access.
Yeah I did that initially but once I figured out I could reach my plug without taking them out I just do the 2. It was a lot of taking apart and putting back together while testing lol
Try turning up the drag brake. Nice videos
Appreciate that. There isn’t a drag brake setting using the programmer. Not sure if the esc has that adjustment or not. I was thinking just a little may help. I’d hate to have much drag because soon as you hit the air with no throttle it would flipping like crazy lol. I think I’m gonna have to get another dx5 (even though I’m not a fan) to get full performance adjustments out of this. With it you can adjust front brake end points, flywheel etc I think.
I can’t seem to access my esc wire to hook up the card :(. Could u do a video ?
Do you think 100% brake would stretch out your chain faster?
I hope I can find a way for this to work with the V1 ESC program box. Feel ripped off buying it and now they've unnecessarily changed to a V2. What a waste of money.
👍🏽
The thing about your tires locking up is you can’t turn when your wheels aren’t spinning, you’ll just slide.
Yeah they aren’t full lock so I think it’ll still work pretty well. Probably not going to run 100% brake but just wanted to show that it does improve the braking. I think going up to the 85% is gonna be the sweet spot. Obviously it’ll be a little different on loose dirt because that tire may lock completely. I’ll have to find out when I can get on a good track with it. Probably gonna have to build my own track for that to happen though 😆
@@2fmrc yea man I think this thing could come alive on the right track. I have a few 1/8th tracks near me that are really hard dirt. Wish they weren’t back ordered as hell lol
Can you set it up to give you more front brake so that it will do a front wheel wheelie ... With the back wheel off the ground... I think it's called a Endo imo😊
Yeah the front is decent atm. Much more front and it gets wild on loose stuff. Just trying to get more overall because the rear has no adjustment on the transmitter.
How is the additional braking doing with in-air control? Is there any servo adjustment on the front brake?
Didn’t notice any change in jumping with it. I’m sure if you hit the brake it would nose harder but the way this thing jumps you never really need to hit the brake in air. Most of the time you stay in the throttle. The front brake has a trim and end point Knob
Motorcycles get 70% of their braking power through the front wheel, 30% through the rear wheel. Anything above the limit of the rear wheel, will just lock it up and slide. The trick is doing your braking before the turn, then throttle through the turn. -Ex MX/AX/CC racer
Yeah I still prefer it at around the 85% rear brake. Just because 85% don’t really mean 85% lol. It’s perfect for the pavement. Dirt I’d probably run stock setting but the braking is just light all the way around. I adjusted the front to get more and it drives awesome now. I like to lock the rear a bit and start a bit of a slide into the turn. It’s just fun!
It looks like you're adjusting the engine brake try adjusting the front Servo for front brake maybe the horn set front cable more tension .looks like u might flat track style oval track get it to power slide then under power to keep it sliding. In the mixing on radio like airplane ajust the mixing just an idea its got close to airplane telemetry base like a helicopter failsafe. ?!!! Let me know
Yeah the front is decent now. Much more and it gets wild on loose stuff. Just trying to get a bit more overall.
Can the front brake cable be adjust to squeeze tighter? Really needs some more front tire braking
Yeah I would definitely prefer get the braking from the front but there’s not really much adjustment for the front. A trim knob that helped remove the slack in the cable once it got broke in but it don’t give any more braking. The front brake knob helped some but I think a stronger servo and the dx5 transmitter is probably the best way to get more front brake. I also don’t want too much front brake because it’ll slide really bad on dirt. From what I understand with the dx5 you can set end points etc for the front brake. Nothing with the stock transmitter.
@2fmrc Thank you. I didn't know if the cable was adjustable at all. If someone didn't want to buy a new radio, they may be able to find a micro servo with a higher ° of rotation? Just a thought! I'll definitely be picking one if these bikes up in the future.
Is it possible to adjust the brake strength on the front tire? Can you add better brake pads, and, or, a higher speed servo for better braking on that front tire?
Yeah the front is decent atm. It has trim and travel knobs adjustments on the transmitter. Much more front and it gets wild on loose stuff. Just trying to get more overall because the rear has no adjustment on the transmitter.
The brake effects the gyro and will cause it to front over or rear over in the air
Didn’t seem to have any effect on mine jumping. I could see a drag brake setting giving issues with jumping but the brake don’t just come on by itself. It’s not on until you hit the brake. So as long as you don’t slam the brake in the air it shouldn’t be an issue.
@@2fmrc can't wait for mine to arrive 😍
@@Tallguysrc oh I’m sure! This thing is the only Rc I even wanna run atm. It’s just so much fun. I think I’m gonna have to build a small track out back for a couple of them to race on 😆
Yea I was having no the same issue but the front brake also feels weak? How tight do you run ur front brake?
It’s actually needing cleaned atm. It’s fairly tight atm. I adjusted the trim to remove the slack in the brake but thinking I really need a dx5 to get more adjustments out of the front I believe. With it you can supposedly adjust the flywheel and everything.
Won't the slipper clutch slip rather than slow it down more if you've adjusted it? And is there any adjustment on the front?
trim knob that helped remove the slack in the cable once it got broke in but it don’t give any more braking. The front brake knob helped some but I think a stronger servo and the dx5 transmitter is probably the best way to get more front brake. I also don’t want too much front brake because it’ll slide really bad on loose dirt. From what I understand with the dx5 you can set end points etc for the front brake. Nothing with the stock transmitter.
Can I adjust those settings by using the programming button on the on/off switch
Probably can I just didn’t know the sequence. There wasn’t any info on the mx esc programming.
@@2fmrc thanks for the info. Maybe if I follow the settings on the video and can figure it out
People need to ditch the stock transmitter.
Since the receiver is basically a 5ch and paired to a 3 ch transmitter there's some internal channel mixing.
There's a firmware update for the spektrum dx5c,rugged and pro..I wonder if you can put brake on separate channel
Yeah I know. I just hate to spend the money on a dx5 when I absolutely hated the dx5r I had back in the day 😆. I may end up with a rugged just for the fact that it’ll unlock so much more tuning for this thing lol
@@2fmrc I'm waiting to see if they do an update for the dx6r
Is the programmer the same as the hobbywing programer
Spektrum is rebranded hobbywing.
I tried using my Hobbywing programmers (I have like 2-3 different ones) with spektrum a long time ago and it wouldn’t work on the setup I had in my xmaxx. Maybe it would work with this idk?
Is there any adjustment on the front brake?
Yeah the front is decent atm. It has trim and travel knobs adjustments on the transmitter. Much more front and it gets wild on loose stuff. Just trying to get more overall because the rear has no adjustment on the transmitter.
Have you tried increasing front braking?
Yeah but too much on it and it gets wild on loose stuff. I wanted to get more out of the rear
@@2fmrc I got u. 👍
You need to adjust the front brake too.
Yeah the front brake is about where I want it for now. Any more and it gets squirrelly on dirt. Trying to get a bit more out of the rear. I think a stronger servo for the front and a dx5 to get more tuning would be a good way to really dial the brakes in on this thing.
Why wouldn’t you bump the BeC up to 7.4?
Stock servos won't handle more than 6 volts. Most plane servos won't handle more than 5v. Replace the servo(s) for HV versions & can use higher bec voltage.
Anything over 6v WILL cook almost any rtr servo.
Yeah these stock servos wouldn’t last long. I’m surprised they haven’t died already lol. Stock spektrum servos are usually complete trash 😆
Kind of funny, I am trying my best to not go down the rc motorcycle rabbit hole... but every video, I get a little bit weaker.. 😢
If they had a Kenny Roberts or Evil Knievel version it would be on the way right now.
You definitely need to stay out of the Facebook groups then! There’s a guy on there that made his own leather Robbie Knievel outfit and painted the helmet and bike. It looks amazing!!!
Well, I will most definitely look that one up!
Can't you just shove a stick in the front spokes like we used to do to the older bully kids on the streets? It always made them stop really fast and humbled them quick, too. 😂😂
Haha! Love it! Maybe we will try that in the next vid. My rider is getting pretty cocky 😆
@@2fmrc Lmao, that would be hilarious! 😂😂
IF the slipper is so loose it's slipping under acceleration, it's gonna slip under braking too🤷♂️. As with any surface rc anything.
Not 'so loose', but snug slipper nut up tight, back off 1/4 turn, THEN see what happens.
Adjusting the slipper did absolutely nothing to the braking on mine.
@@old-rcplane-phart 1/4 turn on this slipper isn’t even noticeable lol. The bike still backflips on flat ground when punched.
Adjust the front brake so they work together 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah the front brake is about where I want it. Much more it gets squirrelly on loose stuff.
YOU SET ONLY BREAK OF REAR WHEEL NOT FRONT .... YOU WILL RUINE THE REAR TIRE ... you can adjust break force without the module by sequence on the remote (dont know how but it s classic on ESC) stop the wheel isnt best way to break short (like ABS system). need to work on FRONT BREAK!
The front is about now I want it. Much more it gets squirrelly on loose stuff. Trying to get the rear where I want it. The front has adjustments on the transmitter. Rear has nothing
Disappointing the Spktrum v1 programmers wont work. Greedy money grab is the corporate philosophy.
Someone said you can update the V1 and it’ll work. I didn’t know that and haven’t tried it because I bought the v2 awhile because I didn’t realize the v1 could be updated and work.
