Still listening in January 2021! Awesome song sung by the Hawkins Family! I’ve been listening to the later version sung at GE Patterson’s tribute with Shontelle Norman and Stefanie Bolton, and I’m so glad I finally discovered the original here!! Thank you Bishop Walter Hawkins! RIP
❤ yess carrying on this profoundly inspiring song in 2024 everyday and night . Our world is in peril this song keeps me inspired and gives me strength to go forward in Jesus name.❤❤
His ministry was incredible. Truly a gift to us from God. He wrote some of the most powerful Gospel music ever created in my opinion. Forever RIP Bishop Walter Hawkins.
Love this song taken me through through those times. Still has the same effectiveness back then as right now. Love love the sweet anointing that spreads to reach the hearts and lives of people. Still touched by the love and inspiration of this song.
Forever Gospel RIP Bishop Walter Hawkins you live on through many......I love for sharing your talent with us and Lord thank you for using him to reach ME personally...
What a marvelous thing God did in Bishop Walter L. Hawkins. God stirred up the gifts in our pastor. I am thankful to God for loaning him to us for the time. My pray today as we give honor to whom honor is due on his birthday, that we move forward and remember what we've been taught. Put into action the messages he shared of Christ's love. Lord, Give Us Time.
The best Gospel Music IMHO was from the late 70's starting with Andre Crouch, the Hawkins Family, the Clark Sisters, the Winans Family, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Commissioned, Witness, Yolanda Adams and it ended with Fred Hammond as a solo artist. I wouldn't walk across the street to hear much more than these that I just named. No, not even for FREE. Just a few more people happened to slip through the crack such as; Tonex, Kim Burrell, Donnie McClurkin Kikki and LeAndria Johnson who IS the best thing to happen in Gospel since the early 2000's when Kim & Donnie showed up.
I was introduced to #walterhawkins music as a boy then my Mother Lillian Parks started singing with the Hawkins Singers in 1980 and sang on their Love Alive 4 project. She traveled with the Hawkins Singers and shared the stage with many other Gospel singers and I knew who they were and how amazing their voices were (I was and am a fan) #clark sisters #shirleycaeser #mightycloudsofjoy #darylcoley.
Wow.. Nostalgia at it's best.. I remember when this song was released..(the good ol days) loved it! Dude on the Hammond was Killin it! Who was he?? ..and Tremaine OMG!! One hot sexy-singing beautiful black woman.. love her!! .. and her very powerful unique voice. I can never get tired this song.. and if you can bear witness to the wordings of this song, that makes it all the more better!
Younger hip hop kids could learn something about this! Yes this is how it was.. You were not in a modern day church (Night Club) setting. This was Holy Spirit filled Praise..
I miss this era 1980's and 1990's. This era had a clear-cut message about Jesus. Bishop Hawkins and Edwin S Hawkins left a legacy of music to radiate throughout eternity. Play that organ!! Lady Tramaine and Lynette - beasts all by themselves.
Walter is so smooth in his music. Nobody is directing anybody. Walter isn't making signals or getting overly sweaty. The singers are tight as well as the musicians. I hate to sound like I'm looking down on today's music but something is missing in Gospel music.
The first time I saw Love Center perform in person, they opened for the Winans at Center of Hope Church. I kept looking for a choir director but there wasn't one. From the organ, just a tilt of his head or a nod and that great choir was on que.
All of the Hawkins singers are talented, but when you look at Tramaine, in the back or on lead...very few singers that touch your spirit..that i her. I heard this when i was out in the world and i remember hearing her stirred something in me, later i found that is was the God speaking throughher voice....we need more of that today.
For all of you fans of Joel Smith( the late Bishop Walter Hawkins nephew and long time musician), soon you will be able to download his bass/drum grooves as a ringtone-contact legetteeric@yahoo.com to be placed on mailing list!-He is playing the drums on this song
The Holy Spirit is that inner gut-wrenching feeling that makes the mouth utter. What is this won't let me hold my peace letting others know: God is Real!
This is one of my favorite gospel songs. This is a clear illustration of the struggle with black people trying to separate their sensual and spiritual lives. In our original spirituality, before being colonized, we didn't separate the two. We didn't "know" being naked was sinful/shameful because we were not aware of the Jewish scripture (i.e. Genesis, original sin) It is a long complex story, but, Whatever It Is, hopefully we will figure it out.
Oooohh!! I haven't heard this song is many, many years! For me ... before the Richard Smallwood singers (whose music I adore) there was the Hawkins!! Thanks for this upload!!
Truly amazing singers! His was a beautful instrument for Christ. No other voice like Walter Hawkins. He was by far my favorite gospel performer/singer. Still get happy every time I hear him sing! I grew up to the Hawkins Family, the Clark Sisters and Shirley Ceasar, true gospel legends. Anointed and truly blessed. RIP Bishop Walter Hawkins! Your music will live on forever!, a testimony in itself!
Maybe...but the album this is on was the on the same album with Love is God , Try Christ, and Goin to a place.. made in 1980, their first live recording as The Hawkins Family.
The Legend I grew up with the Hawkins music they we're the best we will never get anything as great as this again I miss bishop Walter Hawkins and Edwin Hawkins true legends ❤❤
I'm glad I had the honor to meet him My pastor years ago right before he passed away he came to Arizona for a few days to dedicate our church he was our Bishop and my pastor took me with him to his funeral.iits to much to tell but I got a chance to meet Tramaine and Carlton Pearson and a lot of great gospel singers I will never forget it ❤❤❤
A gem of a song from Walter Hawkins RIP. As we note his passing, we are reminded we give thanks for his legacy, his life and music that touched all of us and will live on via all the vehicles of communication that we have today. AMEN AMEN.
I grew up in Chicago during the sixties listening to herb Kent on the radio. He would close each night with this song. What a blessing it is to still listen to this anointed song.
The Hawkins family will always be my favorite Gospel Singing family until death takes me away. I have followed them for soooooo long and will continue to do so.
Feeling thankful tonight for a lot of things, including those that are mentioned in this song by Walter Hawkins and the Hawkins Family. I saw them perform this song and the entire album that’s titled “The Hawkins Family” during a concert in West Virginia in the fall of 1981. What a blessing *that* was! I found out about this concert through members of the Shiloh Baptist Church choir. I was part of that choir and attended that church during the year I lived and worked in/near Charleston, WV. They even convinced me to lead a song once. *Once*…
What ever it is, I'm just in a Walter Hawkins mood this rainy morrning. One of my all time Walter Hawkins songs. I believe this is the first time seeing this live version. Just WOW!
i believe when a artist has a moment like this where the song touches your heart...it is the father speaking to the us..I love this song just like it was new
Still listening to this in 2024❤
Me too 👏 ...
HIS MUSIC WILL ALWAYS BE "TIMELESS".
tramaine hawkins has one of the richest voices ever. it's so beautiful.
I totally agree.
And I agree with you both.
Out of all gospel singing virtuosos, she is my absolute fav!!!!💖🖤
Yes!!
She always used the voice to God's glory, could have went into secular music.
Brings back my Sunday mornings listening to the radio as a teenager… great timeless music 👏👏👏
We need more songs like this. No show or fashion just loving on God. :-)
amen
That's not say they must look shabby to fit our religious obligations....
After all this time, Bishop Hawkins is still relevant!
This just doesn't get old....which indicates to me just how inspired by Him this must be. Makes me want to shout about it!
I'm here in 2023 🙂
I'm here in 2024

I was so privileged to meet Walter Hawkins once and to tell him how much his music meant to me. Rest in peace, Angel Walter.
His ministry was incredible. Truly a gift to us from God. He wrote some of the most powerful Gospel music ever created in my opinion. Forever RIP Bishop Walter Hawkins.
My god! Walter had some serious vocals.
Love this song taken me through through those times. Still has the same effectiveness back then as right now. Love love the sweet anointing that spreads to reach the hearts and lives of people. Still touched by the love and inspiration of this song.
Yes, the man was bad. He's one of a kind.
What is this(HOLY SPIRIT)...makes me want to RUN ON IN JESUS NAME; HALLELUJAH 😇💃🏾🦁❤🤣🤗!!!
Amen I to love his music.
Walter Hawkins, Lynette Hawkins Stephens, Tramaine Hawkins and Edwin Hawkins are the most richest Purest Gospel voices in Gospel History
I agree Walter, Edwin, Tramaine, Lynette best gospel voices to me until this day. Natural gifted voices
Real Gospel Music and anointed vessel of God, Bishop Walter Hawkins and Hawkins Singers,
REMEMBERING WALTER HAWKINS (MAY 18, 1949 - JULY 11, 2010 [07/11/2015]

Ahhhh! So classy! There is none like the Hawkins Singers!
When you have a personal relationship with GOD you understand the song completely

Reminds me of waking up Sunday mornings getting ready for church and my jamming this I miss those days
Is that Tramaine Hawkins singing also?
Yes, to the heavens!
My grandmother approved -- truly a testament to the value of this music! Still causes me to simply sit and listen for the message.
Daniel Hawkins on that organ!
Its not how good you sing. He was anointed. That alone is enough. I'm trained. Well trained and can't sing like him.
Timeless classic

It's the real instruments not the new Age technology instrument the realness of that makes the singer sang a little bit harder too me

This song gets me threw the day its deep inside me oh how I LOVE GOD
He has a very beautiful voice.

He is definitely one of my favorite gospel singers. Favorite male gospel singer for sure!
