  • In this episode of NSF Live, EJ, Jack, And Sawyer talk about all things space that have occurred in the last few days. This includes the return of Booster 10 to the orbital launch mount, the launch of Pace from the Cape, the release of NASA WB-57 footage from the second Starship flight, and much more
    NSF Live is NASASpaceflight.com's weekly(ish) show covering the latest (~1 week old) news in spaceflight. It's broadcast live on Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern. On each show, we rotate through various hosts and special guests.

    Really fun stream and Kevin's ending was epic LMAO. I liked the time of the stream and diferent times for lives on different days. Thanks for my daytime live chat.

    Yet another informative and fun show. Chat was nuts (in a good way). My only suggestion is to shorten the length. Two and a half hours is too long. Not for me personally as I have no life:) Thinking of those who may want to watch the replay and might not due to its length. The Sunday shows only ran ninety minutes. Thanks Jack, EJ, Sawyer, Kevin. PS, I previously opined on the start time last week.

    Could it be that the WB-57 zoomed in really close on hotstaging making the hotstaging startup sequence visible and they don't want to show that? Same may go for engine relight of booster then explosion.

    I have some S25 tiles and even the “3-peg” ones are glued, the pegs are glued into the tile with a silicone type of adhesive

    No cockpit windows on the New NASA quiet SST .... because that reduces the shock waves.

    Since they recklessly asked for ones oppinion I will give it, I like the format, the bander and everything.
    I really really dislike how late it starts, i know it is because I am european but I like raptor sidestart times so much better, at 21 (9pm) local time for me is a lot better than 01 (1am), I would even be happy if we split the difference and start it 2 hours earlier and not 4 like the raptor sides.
    That said i enjoyed the show a lot, and really appreciate the easy of getting a lot of information about whats going on in once place, I am just a middle aged idiot that complains about bed times and I could watch the show later... but watching live is more fun...

    How can anybody think Voyager 1 & 2 are not the best missions ever

  • @lucababnik141
    @lucababnik141 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I don't think the lox was there as a payload simulator, i think they dumped it because due to a lack of payload they had extra in the tanks and had to dump it so it wouldn't off-balance(or overpressurize the ship due to reentry heat) during reenty

    • @nSnowCrow
      @nSnowCrow 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doesn’t make sense to me. Why not put a hunk of metal in the payload compartment. Why not vent later to simulate payload delivery in orbit. Why not load also methane to ensure the capability to reenter. Why vent through the engine bay? Soo many whys.
      And an option is that the lox dump was not intentional but a burst pipe.

    • @lucababnik141
      @lucababnik141 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nSnowCrow only ox because cheaper, through the bottom because the liquid is on the bottom, no hunk of metal, because the ship in reentry needs to be empty. Not vent later because when engines are on the liquid is on the bottom and can escape freely without sloshing

    • @lucababnik141
      @lucababnik141 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nSnowCrow but also possible it was a burst pipe. Just don't think oxigen was the payload simulator.

    That footage almost seems a little disingenuous. Especially for people watching for the first time. How quickly it cuts from engine cut off to the explosion.

    I disagree with this show being 2hours+ in duration. It's not a dedicated tank watching stream.
    It's also somewhat redundant with TWIS released the very same day covering all the same topics.

    It's just ludicrous that they did not show staging, we've already seen it! They can't squeeze the toothpaste back in the tube. Hot Staging was the whole point of this flight, the new thing, the "Fix." As shown it makes it look like it just blew up and didn't even get through staging and it did it but someone having not seen the original footage could get a real different take on how that flight played out. Just a dumb move. I'm starting to loose confidence with SpaceX if they start pulling this kind of thing when we always got to see most everything before and that was part of the charm of Starship the openness of the whole thing.

    You gotta stop letting Jack host these. They've become unwatchable. This used to be where I could get weekly updates and information, and now it's just off-topic discussions, long moments of silence, and inside jokes. It's not enjoyable to watch.
