Thanks so much for playing with Cellarius =D Wave build is awesome 😎 Actually the oracles are widely different from each other hahahaha that is why we made difficulty level separated for each character, cuz the complexity of the characters increase a lot, the two last one are super complex (the last one specially) so we didnt want players first time playing with them on anomaly 5. But after hearing the feedbacks from players we decided to make the difficulty levels shared across all characters, but the player need to win at least one run with a character on Anomaly 0 to unlock all the other Anomalies that are shared. This way we prevent new players to hating a specific oracle because of the difficulty. For speed up the run, you can also disable NPC/Rewards animation, it also decreases the run time length a lot!
Glad you're playing more of this game, would like to see more, already have a dozen hours in it myself! 8:26 Mild unlock spoilers: There is actually a blessing you can unlock for Cellarius that makes Wave work just like that! 1:14:40 The difference between an enemy "receiving corruption" and "increasing overcorruption" is that receiving corruption means it will also "heal" them because it hits their "corruption meter" and just also effect the "overcorruption meter" as a result of that, whereas "increasing overcorruption" ONLY affects their "overcorruption meter". Also I'm sure any effects that have to do with an enemy "receiving corruption" would not proc from "increasing overcorruption" effects. Also, no need to count the amount of dice you have of a certain type, they are all color coded. You can also tell visually by the corners of a die what type it is. There is also a counter in the dice pool menu that displays a number next to each color. For reference: Starter = White Safe = Blue Balanced = Green Risky = Red Epic = Gold
worth noting that giving an enemy light will help prevent them from overcorrupting themselves, but Decay will still tick up ignoring light shield and similar effects (barrier, incorruptible)
Oh and just for the sake of clarity on that final fight, "corruption" heals the enemy AND increases the overcorruption bar, "decay" increases overcorruption without healing the enemy. Man this game has too many words in it. PS: I personally think that the characters in this game ARE wildly different from each other, moreso than any other strategy roguelike I've ever played! I'm gonna be replaying this one for a while yet for sure
They literally patched the fact that Ascensions are not unlocked seperately anymore today. Might have been because of your "critique" at end. The developers are really trying hard, i hope this game will get the attention it deserves. Thank you for showing it to us!
It's a shame that the characters you select to play as is tied to difficulty - it would have been more fun (for me) to pick any character and have a good time, instead of having to manually select a difficulty by picking a later hero. Especially if a playstyle or hero ends up being too difficult to be fun.
the difference between receiving corruption and increasing overcorruption, is that when an enemy receives corruption, they gain overcorruption, and "heal" the same way you do with purify. so if its increasing overcorruption, it doesn't heal them, while receiving corruption does both.
Would definitely enjoy more Astrea - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how different all the subsequent characters play and feel. In answer to your question during the last fight: Receiving corruption both heals the enemy and increases overcorruption. Increasing overcorruption only does the latter.
Duuuude, this is gonna become one of your best series for sure. This game has so much to offer... i don't want to spoil you, but can't wait till you play with the next character hahahah he's so entertaining... kind regards man!
most of the shark blows drop you just far enough to use the first virtue which then can heal you to the point where you can shark blow again ect. For the next character you will want to consider overcorruption as a good thing. Take the virtue refresh blessing and laugh all the way to the star bank.
A few of the Oracles DO feel same-ish, however a few of them do feel different enough to warrant having separate anomaly levels, ESPECIALLY the last Oracle.. Still would have preferred it to be universal, but hey, gives us an excuse to play this game more
just went through this, unlocked the characters. It was pretty fun, however some characters are easier to win with than others... that said, I think you did really well with Cellarius. Btw, you can drop a selection die on top of a target to initiate it.
SHORK. Yet another game reto convinced me to buy xD Really hope this game gets enough traction to watch reto be absolutely brainblasted by the last two characters!
For the difficulty thing, yeah, i generally agree, artificial difficulty (to me, at least) is just not fun, but also it’s much easier to implement, and generally better for a game to have an unfun, completely optional difficulty system than not having one at all
Dunno how I am here first, but wanted to say I love the videos. Do you think you'd ever dive into doing a "Top 10 roguelikes video or maybe even a top 10 of a sub-genre of roguelikes like action vs turn based or something like that? You obviously play a lot, so I would love that kind of content too. The only one I know that is up there for sure based on uploads is Brotato haha.
It is tough, if I did it would not be phrased as a tier list or top 10 list. I find the structure innately reductive and toxic. What I _am_ interested in is a recurring "5 Roguelikes to Check Out" kind of video as it is more malleable, and not something I'd feel like I want to change 1 month after I post it as I would a ranked video.
@@Retromation I get that, but as a consumer of these games you must have some kind of subconscious enjoyment ranking. I would enjoy the games to check out videos, but maybe also you could do a "top 10 games I have spent the most time with". Sort your library by hours played, and see what shows up! Maybe that's a little more objective. The whole point of the list is not to say what is definitively better, it's more so what games you personally have enjoyed and have kept you hooked.
Eh, maybe. Looking at my most played ranking, I don't find it to be a very good one-to-one representation of quality. A lot of the games I like the most aren't at the top.
@@Retromation Thanks for the reply. I get your not exactly in the game review business, but a lot of what I use your channel for is finding new games and trying to extract your opinion of them from these let's try videos. You really play a ton in the genre so we all very highly respect your opinions on these things.
There is a discussion that might lead to unify anomaly levels throught all characters on discord! So your feedback was valid, many players felt the same.
Hello, there is a demo on Steam from Super Dungeon Designer, it is a game like Super Dunjon Maker you can create your dungeons and it will also be possible to share them when the game comes out in early access, will be interested to have your opinion on the game.
Hey Retro you might've already figured it out, but when wave triggers it also purifies yourself too not just enemies. So on it's own I don't think it's quite as useless as you first realized :) Although if you are only facing one enemy then it's still not super helpful XD Also I would love to see you attempt a full run with every character :D
I hope you play this one for awhile! There seems like there's such a wide variety of potential stuff you can do.
Thanks so much for playing with Cellarius =D

Whooo! I was hoping this would become a series. Commenting on the video to support the series.
I know the runs are long but I love this game, man.
Puppy-lookin' shark fella is very cool! I do really like the art in this game.
I hope we see you play all the characters, they do have very different play styles and the last one is extremely difficult
It's a shame that the characters you select to play as is tied to difficulty - it would have been more fun (for me) to pick any character and have a good time, instead of having to manually select a difficulty by picking a later hero. Yay, more of this game! I wanted more of this game!

This is a fantastic game! Glad to see you playing it, and I'd love to see more!
I'd absolutely love to see more of this the art is great and it looks like so much fun.

hey reto! love the series! also, when you're checking your dice bag, it shows what is in your deck right at the top
Duuuude, this is gonna become one of your best series for sure. This game has so much to offer... i don't want to spoil you, but can't wait till you play with the next character hahahah he's so entertaining... kind regards man!
Such a good game! I love everything about it. Glad you demoed it a long time ago, was a day one purchase for me
Boy do I enjoy your content! But this game takes to another level!

Shark seemed pretty whacky.
Cant wait to see whats next.
A new series on this would be amazing!
Would?
It's already one! 😆
You can speed up animations in settings - that way, runs would be faster.:)
^ 2nd option feels like the intended speed and default option is tutorial speed.
From playing the demo, Cellarius the shark dude was my absolute favorite character!
immediately hyped to see more astrea
just went through this, unlocked the characters. It was pretty fun, however some characters are easier to win with than others... that said, I think you did really well with Cellarius. Btw, you can drop a selection die on top of a target to initiate it.
Really love this game! I'll keep watching for sure

Deckbuilding? Oldschool. Dicebuilding? Now you have my attention!

Would absolutely love Retro to put out the content, dude has the skill, the voice, the personality, and I trust what he says about the genre.

My favorite vids you do are ones where you really think about and strategize moves and builds. And this one feels perfect
Beautiful game.
