    Brilliant walkthrough 👍highlighting some of the major differences, and also points out how different the lofts are(!), which is not always clear or top of mind for all.
    It's like when people ask "what iron did you hit there" not knowing anything about the lofts on my set ...🙄

      It's one of the most comical sayings in groups when you hear it...... There can be nearly 10 degrees of loft difference between 7 irons nowadays so how anyone gains anything from that question is beyond me.... But amusing 😊

    I found this when I swopped a JPX 921 forged 6 iron at 27 degrees for a JPX hot metal pro 6 iron at 25 degrees. Went roughly the same distance but the Hot metal pro more forgiving, hit an amazing high flight for the same distance and still felt as good.

      Got the 923 pros today, just back from the range and wow they’re incredible!

      I didn’t like the 923 jpx hot metal pros. Poor feel and I don’t like the strong lofts

    Good to have few different types bought secondhand to play occasionally for fun. Plus your main fitted set

    A little off topic but was just wondering if you had any plans to do a golf vlog or not? That would be awesome to see. Keep up the great work.

    Good stuff....
    Two things struck me...
    1) The Darkspeed look so much better than my old cavity backs.
    2) I'd only need 5 Darkspeed clubs to cover between 28 degs and 48 degs rather than 6 - so they're a bargain as well.
    The only real negative is the feel, and I can't believe I'd notice that anything like as much as a decent player like you would.
    As long as they don't vibrate down my spine on a miss hit, I'm happy..😁👍

      To be fair to the DARKSpeed Irons, actually they are pretty darn good for a game improvement iron 👍🏻

    What do you think would be the best iron for a mid to high handicapper with a high swing speed ? Have problems hitting it flush. Usually 50/50.

    Thank you mr Jay. Making the decision to go from my mmc’s in the direction of something with more help is not easy. I get the support here to stick with the players irons… age and health push in the other direction… choices😢

      Happy to help if I can be on your iron choice going forward...
      If you know your delivery numbers it can help reduce the available choices 👍🏻

      @@AskGolfNut would be visiting if we lived on the same side of the North Sea… it’s more of an issue getting my hands to keep hold on the grip. That’s a neurological problem… if they behave I can shoot low 70’s.. if not it is a struggle..

    Nice video, Jay! I’m wondering why the lie angle is so much more upright on the DarkSpeed irons. I’m guessing it’s because these are designed more for players who tend to come over the top, and the upright lie may help to square the face and take a bit of that slice curve off? I would probably just hit massive hooks and the occasional OB pull hook double cross at that lie. Well honestly, I can pull that shot off with my own clubs every so often, and they’re a degree flat. OB on a par-3? Impossible, they said. Then they played with me.

    I love the looks and feel of the players irons, but I need the help my game improvement irons give me. I have even changed to hybrids from the 7 thru 3 irons to get the forgiveness, height and distance I need.

    There is definitely an argument for combo sets and maybe having manufacturers change iron construction within a same set as the loft does down

    Would the forged tec or forged tec x be a good middle ground?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Middle ground absolutely but I wanted to do a more players section focused video as they get lost in the marketing a little nowadays and they are more forgiving and helpful than golfers think 👍🏻

      @dylanshelton6180 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AskGolfNut I appreciate all your videos! I have the forged tec x and have been wondering if maybe I should have went dark speed. I got them because I figured they would be a good middle ground on forgiveness and looks (thank you for the confirmation!), but I may need more forgiveness and I actually don’t hate the dark speed look. Just the forged Tec x looks better imo.

    • @andy_bickley
      @andy_bickley 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The TEC-X is a very small step up from the Darkspeed , Almost Darkspeed in a forged package, the Regular TEC has much higher CG than the Tec-X as well as the extra 2 degrees loft. 20% more spin from something that looks very much the same.

    Most forgiving players irons I've tried are probably MP 243. ZX7 and i230 are excellent also. Pros have won with ZX7 and i230. Can't get any more players than that.

      Better sharpen your razor blade , gonna need it to split the hairs on that review 👍, 243 slightly longer less spin , zx7 slightly more forgiving off the toe.

    Playing ZX5 and they are great, but soles are too wide on scoring irons.

      Thought about chopping the scoring irons in for some ZX7s.... They'd be the best of both worlds 👍🏻

  • @Pud56
    @Pud56 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Game improvement isn’t just about forgiveness, as you get older and swing speed is compromised, they help with distance. I get its largely because of the loft, but with large amounts of tungsten weighting you need those lofts. I now play 7-GW with new Big Bertha irons, when i was fitted i hit the 7 iron 140 yards, now as my health has improved and i have been working on fitness, its 170 yards average carry in a studio, so may get refitted and see if i can downsize😂 these monsters. They are not pretty, but very effective, more seniors should consider them or eleven hybrids, park the ego
