    sadly it doesn't take a month to reset reward pathways if you've been creating them for 10+ years. i quit for 75 days no masturbation or anything and the moment i watched it i got the most insane dopamine high like i was on heroin or something. the day after it didnt even feel close to that but yeah it takes way longer for your brain to reset a 10+ year habit. I heard 14 months is a good goal but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes longer than that.
    either way the biggest indicator of developing a porn addiction is a life that is meaningless so add some meaning to your life like a partner, job, school, social life and use porn as an indicator of when you need to improve your life. it's a blessing in that aspect.

    • @fraai
      @fraai 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      from my experience the first week is by far the hardest. also you do progress so lets say you get a 75 day streak first time the second time it will be easier to get to 75.
      a thing i do is whenver i get an urge i do an exercise like pushups, squats or something till im EXHAUSTED. so i replace the urge with another physical activity.

    Time to go, all new, completely refreshed and reset. Maybe it’s better to head for those 30 days first instead of trying to change the whole world. Pray for me brothers, I will give my best and keep looking for the good things in my life.

    Addiction isn't the disease. It's a symptom. A symptom of lacking sufficient neurotransmitters which are a result of factors genetic (parental circumstance), epigenetic (developmental circumstance), or both. These factors can contribute to a myriad of psychiatric or developmental conditions which have a high incidence of addiction risk. Combine that with exposure (socioeconomic situation influences this to a large degree) to certain substances, or activities which help soothe that lack, and you get a person who really can't "just say no". Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins, and Dopamine are the biological currency of exchange for a bearable life, and when one's needs in those areas aren't met, a human will seek out ways to address it. Sufficient hormonal and chemical levels in functional, non-addict people was never their choice, and similarly that lack isn't a choice either. Quitting is only possible if the addict has an alternative route to healing those deficiencies.

      @davidg1594 try to find a new hobby that you enjoy? I've recently taken up cycling. Makes me feel great and I enjoy it. I'm more motivated after and feel less inclined to use my phone, youtube etc. Exercise is also good as it will release endorphins and a healthy sustainable amount of dopamine which can make you feel more motivated and happier in the near term. Can also give meaning/purpose such as training for a goal (marathon, strength gains). Purpose Is also important in overcoming addictive behaviour.
