If our generation is able to think this way, let's hope our children can be even more optimistic.

@Ameen ShindoliTo be fair, C02 emissions count is somewhat different from pollution levels. The Clear Air act passed in the US so many years ago has done wonders to reduce pollution and smog in their cities. There was also conservation projects to clean up rivers and water reservoirs, for example: A river in the US known as the Connecticut river used to be inhospitable, 40 years later it is much cleaner and now most of it is safe for swimming.
India has less overall C02 emissions, yet since the country's industrialization is in full swing, there is yet to be a major conservation effort to curb such pollutants from being present in major population centers.
Not all Americans are stupid, however a lot of them are. That is something I will admit.
Something I have observed is the phenomenon of "Rational Ignorance." Remember to put double quotation marks on ""Rational."" This appears to be something prevalent in many Americans, which refuse to educate themselves not because they are unable but because they are unwilling. Many Americans I have been around are too focused on their personal lives and the weather to give a shit about anything but themselves and their social circle. They say that they are just one person and that even if they were educated it wouldn't matter. In actuality it does, especially when millions of people are having the exact same thought and are doing the exact same thing.
I am ridiculed for having worldly views and being concerned about whats going on around me, which is frustrating. This does highlight something about American culture as a whole, as intellectual discussion is seen as a taboo and is shunned as not proper social etiquette. Thankfully, there are plenty of likeminded people in America who at the very least know Germany is in Central Europe, the UK is an island, and that China is not bordering Mexico (People actually believe this).
