9 reels is a whole lot of the Concept A! Never thought about using the trick shop as a means to color code the reels for the use. Great idea. I’ve wanted to get into trying out 13fishing. I think when I’m ready to make the price jump up to a reel from them, this’ll be a good choice
I have a 13 Fishing Concept A2, Concept C, & just got the Concept Z2 SLD for my anniversary, and planning to get the C2 by fall...love all of them, casting a countrymile don't hurt my feelings... going to upgrade to the CZB bearings in the C & A2..then, sailing casts across the board... I also have a Daiwa Tatula, which is ok, Abu is also ok, Lews I've never tried... but so far 13 is doing it right!! Good video man, it's good to see honest reviews!!
Great video Matt! I started picking up 13 fishing reels over the summer and I have to admit really great reels. I have a lot of baitcasting reels, mainly Shimano. Very reliable. I used to go through Reel-Ex to get reel serviced every season but it got pricey. Now I service it myself. I've explored alot of reels e.g. Abu, Lew's, Diawa, Quantum but seemed to result back to my Shimano. I think tackle warehouse might still have that reel demo with a deposit. Might want to give that a try to get some ideas of brands reels you would like use in the future.
I don't use baitcasters, but the Cadence spinning reels I've started using do have the EVA material knobs. I wasn't sure about them at first, mainly because I use Reel Grips on my other reels, which have smaller, hard plastic, knobs. The Cadence EVA material knobs are larger and not slippery when wet like the hard plastic ones.
i never had the chance to learn how to baitcast bcuz the concept A 8.1:1 i got has a faulty spool. It wouldnt cast not unless i put a very heavy weight at the end of the line. During retrieve i can feel the spool wobbling because the central pin is out of alignment. Local tackleshops here in the Philippines dont have extra spools and if they do its gonna be expensive. I've been keeping this reel for 2 yrs now..yes 2 years i would have been very good at baitcasting.. if anyone out there have extra spool for concept A, i would really appreciate if you can help. Tight lines!
What would you choose between quantum inshore baitcaster and concept A For your kind info I do the inshore saltwater rock fishing targeting grouper barramundi and snapper. What would you choose between the two
I had 2 concept 13 reels. Had them wore out pretty quick after 1 year use “southtexas salt fishermen” was really disappointed. Ended up going with Shimano Curado and shimano core. Going on year worth every penny. And have hold up more to saltwater.
I have the concept A I really like mine. I have some Abu Garcia's black and blue max but the 13 out performs them and evens feels better. Great video brutha
I don't have a 13 reel. I have used Abu, Shimano, Kastking and Piscifun. Lews is just Abu Garcia reels with a different name. I want to try Diawa so it's my next reel. But, out of the bunch, Shimano Curado is the one I would use.
I had 2 conceptz broke but like you said it moslty is factory mistake i only had it for 9 months 😂guess what i did bought other one it last me year now
@@YankeeTankerOutdoors that's what happened to my concept a Took it apart found out what was wrong. then bought the concept Z I love the z! It's so light! and if the concept A cast a mile id say this one will cast a mile and 1/2 and lighter bait farther I would say!!!!! No no issues with the z yet I literally use it for EVERYTHING!
Same issue here with the worm in the ConA. Was less than a year old, so sent it in for repairs, been a dream ever since. Bought an OriginC as a stop-gap, not impressed, definitely lower quality (feel and performance). Just ordered the ConA Gen2 which has a beefed up worm...delivery tomorrow!!! Also have a Quantum EPT, Piscifun Phantom, Shimano Currado. By far the Concept A is my fav.
@@sgb3474 mine was right at a year when it happened. You recall how much it was to send it in??? I still have it sittin on the shelf. I'd send it in if it isnt too bad
I have a concept A3 on my Dobyns swimbait rod that I use for my medium swimbaits. I also have a Shimano tranx 400 that I use on my musky/salt rod. No problems with the A3. But the Shimano feels a cut above, especially under heavy load. It's a powerhouse for sure. Over built I'd almost say.
I have 3 lews(HDwide spool, BB1, TournamentPro), 3 shimanos(curado K and E, tranx), 1 daiwa(tatula SV), 2 Abu (black max, Revo inshore), 13fishing (A3) and to top it off my first baitcast that is an old POS Shakespeare. And aside from the blackmax and the Shakespeare they have all been amazing reels. But I must say... the standouts are the Shimanos, and Daiwas with the Lews just a hair lacking but not much. Two of the three lews need more maintenance than normal seems like to keep them smooth.
Just try a curado K. If you don't like it, put it on FB and it'll be gone in no time and you'll have your money back. The K is a tank and dosent leave you feeling disconnected in any way from the bait.
I got a 13 fishing concept c and a Shimano Curado . Try Shimano Curado , they are solid. The concept c is new to me so I've yet to really give it a solid comparison
Dead honesty, i have 1 baitcaster, i dont use it much as i cant seem to get it dailed in properly. i might just need to clean the darn thing to get it working all smooth like melted butter.

That's true. Use the gear, THEN do the review! Smart man!

The 13 - but not the concept a - I would get one of their salt reels.

Where can you find the Trickshop? Can't find it anywhere
It’s on racklewatehouse.
What’s the best number to use on your break for less back lash
Can’t answer that question. Is it windy? What’s the line dia? What’s the weight of the lure. You have to figure you that out.
I have a c an a and an a2.. like them all but i now have 3 tatulas that i prefer.

What happens when my A2 makes a rough retrieve and slight noise when i reel it in
Already? Return that shit.

I had problems with the worm gear on the reel. Is there parts available to buy to replace broken/worn parts or just buy another????
So it’s sad to say but time to buy a new reel. This has happened on another concept a for me. 🤷🏼♂️

It’s 25 bucks I think just for them to look at it. Then parts and labor.

Look at the Abu Garcia revo sx, $170 comes in 6.6:1 or 7.3:1. I have a 13 fishing inception coming.
With a bigger spook I can literally spool this reel with 30lb power pro. The rod is a glx 7’ mh
Nice review, what actually broke on the one concept A that you had repaired
Reverse bearing is an issue with that one reel. I never had it repaired just got a new one.
I have this and a shimano slx and the slx casts farther and is smoother but everything else about the concept a is better
I love 13 fishing I got 2 reels and there the best I’ve ever owned, definitely a good company

Yes. All of mine are doing pretty good as well.
try kastking reels?
lmaoooo oh my god.. seriously laughing my ass off right now.. GO AWAY with that crap.. lol

I’ve had it since the day it came out and I did a review on it 5 months ago. Great reel. It’s on my channel.
No question, Daiwa Tatula 100 or even better the SV TW. Super smooth!
What? This wasn’t an opinion piece. Glad you like that reel. It has no relevance on a video that isn’t comparing anything.
