- In 2019, Timex launched a campaign against watchmaking bologna by releasing the Q Timex Reissue. Now they’ve done a GMT version, and it’s the same-but now it’s a GMT version. This watch is so good yet so cheap!

I would honestly be uncomfortable to answer anyone that asked me how many Timex watches I have, and how many I’ve bought in the last 18 months on the very first day of their availability. I respect a Rolex, plan to buy my favorite Omega one day like anyone else, but damn do I love to see Timex say “Nah. I bet we can do that for one one-hundredth the price.” The Waterbury’s, the Q’s, the M79’s, KEEP THEM COMING.
Timex has been killing it recently. So many awesome watches have been released in the last few months alone.
I love the design of some pateks and rolexs, but if another brand can deliver a similar look with the same experience for a better price, I have no problem going the cheaper route.
When I was younger I wouldve lusted after the more luxurious brands. But now that Im older I realize that feeling goes away after you own the watch for a while. What youre left with after that feeling fades is what matters. Now that im older, I see that paying a premium for brand name stuff is a waste of money.
Id have no problem paying a couple thousand for a grand seiko. Thats a premium watch thats worth its price
@@DavidLopez-rk6em Literally couldn’t have said it better myself. I have an OP, that was gifted to me by a client last year and I love it. I love it because it is a beautiful Rolex of course, but mostly because I didn’t buy it. I would never buy one lol but I can appreciate what they are for sure.
I really like Timex, they deliver the looks for a small bit of the price. Now i can have 1. a pepsi GMT (Q gmt) 2. a dress watch in 34mm (marlin) 3. a vintage chrono (Q chrono) 4. super vintage thingy i dont have a category for 😁😅 with the M79 and many more. So for a few hundred dollars you can have a vintage collection spanning multiple genres and uses.
Thanks Timex!
@@DavidLopez-rk6em spending less is fun! For me something like this is great, I can dream away on the beach with this on my wrist that I have the genuin Rolex GMT on my wrist knowing I don't actually want one anyway because I can spend all that Rolex money on things that do matter
I have a 1978 Saga watch owned in my family from new. Apparently Saga was a sub-brand of Timex. It is not remotely expensive, but that little Timex automatic movement still ticks along beautifully 44 years from its first day's.
I'd love to see it. That's a birthyear watch for me.
I hope you're having a wonderful day.
@@AverageBeausOutdoor If you type in Saga automatic watch on Google images, you will see a gold plated, gold dial watch with baton markers, a date complication and a leather strap.
They are really inexpensive. The serial number on the dial below 6 will confirm the model year.
@@jamesrobert4106 I appreciate the information. Good looking piece and I'll deft. look into it. Have a great week, Friend.
My first watch was a Timex, I loved it like it was a pet puppy. In 1971, if you had that on your wrist at 7 years old you were a made man 😂
I have a 1971 Marlin Timex and bought this last year as my birth year watch 😊
I still have my first watch, a Snoopy & the Red Baron Timex my parents got me in probably 1978 or so. It still runs & keeps decent time!
I had an easy reader when I was 13 and totally loved it. I just recently picked up a weekender and it was like getting an old watch back.
Your assessment was honest and fair. I own a few of the new Timex releases and my reasoning for buying them? Affordability and aside from their failings, are really stylish little timepieces. I don't feel guilty taking my Timex watches with me on vacation because my association with them is different from my more expensive watches, in short Timex watches are fun, functional and don't take themselves too seriously. I appreciate that.
Thank you for continuing to make these style videos, in my opinion, the podcast style videos probably deserve their own channel
Brilliantly narrated Mr Hands, perfectly describing a 'real' friend and not a hanger on or someone like a magpie who has to move towards new shiny things. I could do with a friend like that so I might just give Mr Timex a call when I need that (overdue) detox. I have a few 'real' friend watches that always support me in my time of need, another would be welcome.
Never thought I’d be on a waitlist for a Timex 😂
being an "older" lady I have owned many a Timex and remember the commercials fondly (Takes a licking but keeps on ticking) . Thanks for not treating Timex like some 10 dollar cheap watch and giving it its fair due
I LOVE WATCHFINDER
It’s like 90% flowery poetry and 10% about the actual watch. I don’t come here to learn about watches.
@@zacharyparis Well listing specifications isn't really the point of this channel anyway. The videos are more opinion pieces with great visuals of the watch.
I love their videos a lot more than their customer service…
@@tayflintstoner2873 I don’t mind a few metaphors thrown in there but this guy is out of control!
@@zacharyparishe sells emotions, same reasons most buy a watch.
I'm no expert on horology, but my late grandfather was a hobbyist, who repaired watches and clocks. His advice on my first watch was "you can't go wrong with a Timex." And he was right. I wish I still had my childhood Timex, but you can't take all of those possessions with you for 45 years. So my little three-hander watch went to a jumble sale, after I got my first digital watch (also a Timex.)
Well, one thing for sure Watchfinder are not snobs on any way, they give the same high quality bespoke review and treatment to this bargain basement watch as if it were raised in the same stables as A. Lange & Sohne, respect.
Yeah I love that they give the watch a persona and talk about what it feels like to wear and own one (and nail it so well!), so many other channels will just talk about the specs and value on offer for these but when it comes to Omega or something they get all poetic.
Driving a Dacia and wearing a Timex while enjoying life without feeling poor...So good of you to devote attention to afforabable & value for money watches...
I own two timex chronographs and I'll be the first one to say I absolutely love them... Theyre just so reliable and functional and look good without having that air of pretentiousness or disingenuousness behind them.
They arent an expensive designer watch, they arent a cheap designer watch... theyre just a good watch that works well and looks rather becoming at the same time without breaking your bank. They arent lying about what they are or flaunting themselves... theyre just casually great at what they do.
Timex has my favorite brand cameo in films.
The hidden camera which the feds used while arresting Tony Montana in Scarface is placed on the 12 o'clock of a Timex wall clock.
What a banger of a video! Liked the analogies a lot, made my day! Also really like the watch
The other thing great about this is you won’t get your arm ripped off for it in central london 👍🏻
Surprised but pleased to see a Timex on your channel. I always enjoy your videos and seeing all the glorious wrist candy to which many of us aspire but can likely never afford. Or at least justify. Like many others my first watch was a Timex, back in the '60's. Currently own a Timex Expedition Field watch with which I am very pleased. My every day watch and my favorite, are you sitting down?, is a near twenty year old Invicta Pro Diver with the Sellita SW200 movement. To me it looks exactly the way a diver should look. And just feels good.
“Vendetta against your arm hair” I felt that ugh😅
Thanks for this. And thanks to everyone’s good-natured mate, Timex. Never fussy. Never fancy. Always there for you to lean on. A watch generations of honest hard working people wore to church and cut the grass in. Cheers
I have the black and gray version. It's a lovely piece that i go back to from my casio oak and tudor bb 41 heritage
Me too, because IMHO it's the better looking watch and way more unique, like the Pepsi and Batman rip-off!
On my left wrist is the Timex 21, from the 1960’s. On my right wrist sits the Tissot T Touch Solar Connect. Less than five feet from me sits the Timex M79 featuring day, date, Pepsi bezel and an automatic movement from Myiota. Keeping it company is a Speedmaster Mark 4.5 and other just as nice companions.
I have two 50's marlins, I love them, they are simple and look great!
The Q is a great watch for the price, but the king of that price range IMO is still the new Seiko 5 Sports, which also gets you an in house automatic movement and much better finishing. But hey, options!
The finishing on the Timex is not bad at all. I have an SKX, it's more of a tank, for sure but the Timex is finished nicely. Some polywatch wouldn't go amiss on Mr Hands crystal tho.
@@davidcane7211 I don't think the finishing on the Timex is strictly BAD, but I don't think it's AMAZING for $200+ USD. My DressKX, on the other hand, I got for around $180 and is finished honestly incredibly for that price point. But yeah, not saying the Timex finishing is BAD, just that there are other better finished options at the price.
I own this watch and it gets just as much wrist time as my Seamaster 300m and Navitimer and more than my DateJust 41 and Cartier Santos - its that good. It's super comfy and light on the wrist, the bracelet is great, the sizing perfect, its accurate and looks cool as well. The fact that its a GMT too just adds to it. I can't recommend it enough.
OT -- Andrew I got the second dial bezel and crystal for my Hamilton Railway Special and replaced the solid case back. It is tranformative. You have to do it with yours. Because the bezel proportionally is so thin and the crystal is so large, it makes the watch look light, belying its considerable heft, and of course it opens the gorgeous 992B movement to view. Thanks again for the inspiration.
I bought the non GMT version today on sale and I'm impressed! I will look for the GMT and purchase that model as well. These are great value and sit well on the smaller wrist.
It is likely more accurate than a Rolex mechanical GMT, and at one hundredth the price.
Any quartz is more accurate than a cosc certified mechanical.
How noisy is the clicking? I have a weekender that i like until i put it on and have never ended the day in my wrist because of the noise
The 2022 Timex Qs have pulled me right in. I've got this Pepsi GMT and the new Chrono. Yesterday I ordered the pie pan Hodinkee collab too. Timex are on a roll, and they're SO cheap.
I can't believe the face of this watch is scratched in the video.
I love these videos and how well they are narrated. I’ve had gout 3 times and it’s terrible. I definitely don’t want to have watch gout too! 😂
Andrew, you are making it VERY difficult to keep to my 4 month watch buying embargo
Good luck. I know the pain.
I have the "batman" version of the Timex Q GMT and I love it. It's a looker.
Me too! It was kind of hard to get but I love it.
@@Pupui89 Yeah, I had to sign up for the email notification on the Uncrate website so I'd know when they were back in stock.
Yes, you sign up at uncrate on the mail list, otherwise no chance. I like it because it doesn't have the fake patina and the Pepsi look is really overplayed to me. the black and blue goes with most everything the average person wears.
Bravo for the witty review on Timex. I never wore a watch till after I retired and didn't need one. My first was a Timex stretch band 30m. Then I found out you can't go swimming with a 30m. Or a 50m really. So I got a timex 100m. And there started my journey in horology. My collection ranges anywhere from Timex to Tisot. I'm very partial to automatics. But a Timex with a Swiss movement? I may have to get one of those. I'm curious to know what the water resistance rating on this watch is.
50 m
Cannot unsee the scratches on the glass 😅
Buy what you can afford.Wear it and enjoy it. I don’t have time for some people and their opinions. I have a timex that has gone fishing with me for over years; I’ve only had to replace the battery once. I love it. Thanks Andrew
I just got the black and blue version. It will seat beside my Sub and my speedy, as a watch, it’s beautiful and I am glad I have it as part of my collection
My brother Andrew and his team dropping another amazing video 👏
I love my Q, it’s so good for the $!
Well I like it so yes, I would buy a Timex. Too much watch snobbery out there and the fact that Timex still exists is testament to the company itself.
lol this guy whispering the whole video is hilarious
Your dicription was hilarious 😂. Timex is a good basic watch but your description elevated it to the next level! 😉
Love the reviews. Please can you review cheap Chinese watches. I bought a watch to use in the water when doing physio exercises. It was silly cheap and I now wear it when going swimming.
I have both and the GMT is by far abetter piece and the extra price is well worth it.
The over-tick on the second hand is giving me an aneurysm. I’m not a mechanical snob but like damn there are definitely better quartz movements out there. I have a citizen AT8020 and that one ticks on the money every second. Such a good design, give it a movement that’s worthy
Cry a river
While I was wading through what seemed like hours of flowery exposition, I must have missed whether or not there was any mention of this being a "true" GMT with a way to set the hour hand independently.
Flowery exposition is great, but please.... a couple of useful facts mixed in would be much appreciated.
The paint looks neater than a Rolex on the GMT hand and the date wheel won’t let you down like a Tudor 🤔
“vendetta against your arm hair” LOL 😂
Can you review Fateh Watches? Its a watch brand from Malaysia.
Quite a few people have mentioned using a supermarket carrier bag to "disguise" the fact they have something expensive in say a Rolex/Omaga bag. Common practise in some other countries like Spain, Italy, Hong Kong.
Been waiting since April for Timex UK to restock these.
nice video and narrations. I bought the Q Timex Reissue (gold) and then bought the GMT version a month later. I love the GMT looks and experience, and for me it is nicer than my Seiko Turtle Padi (same PEPSI colorway). the funny thing is, I got the exact scratches like yours after second time wearing it haha. the glass is fragile and 'm thinking of applying Polywatch later.
Looks surprisingly good close up.
Yes, it’s intriguing how good it looks, the quality is there, on the surface if you don’t look at it under a jewellers eye glass there’s not much between this and the best haute horologie of Switzerland 😂
Listening to this commentary is like watching a movie. Thank you.
This is a very nice video and a nice watch as well. Does the hour hand jump without interfering with the other hands when set?
I bought the black and grey version with the rubber strap. Love it!! I wear it proudly and slips under my dress shirt easier than my Seamaster. Well done Timex!!
Strapped on a bracelet that has an vendetta against your arm hair...omg that made my day :)
Where is this sold?
Still wear a Timex I bought 10 years ago for about £20 as my knockabout watch. I'll always have a Timex in my collection.
I have the initial release of the Q diver watch and for the money it is fantastic. Great brand.
Great narrative, loved it.
"Perfectly imperfect"
Andy you're a poet and this is a love letter to nostalgia and democratization of horology
I've got the day/date with orange and blue bezel of this. I bought it on chrono24 with lower price than retail. It offers so much for its price. The only downside I find annoying is the loud second hand tick.
Ever sleep with a rolex, I hear the movement. Lol
Is the ticking as bad as the weekender?
@@Praxeus514 I don't own this one. Could be the case if it is the same mouvement inside
I currently have Tag Heuer Calibre 7 GMT. I'm planning on selling that, buying the Timex, a quartz Tissot PRX, a Bulova Lunar Pilot and putting $1000 in the bank.
Thanks for the heads up info.
Please can you review the new Speedmaster 57?
I have one. It's not my daily go-to watch. But it gets lots of wrist time. And golly, I never have to adjust the time!
I thought of it but opted for the tissot prx
Audio has slight echo in this video, you need to return to the soundproofing set up you used before, the echo robs the narration of intimacy.
Totally get the vibe that you wanna spread.
A simple watch that you would not regret buying afterwards, financially.
A watch that does its job well.
I was sadly unable to get my hands on the WMT collab with artist Labeg. Please, I would love to see you review it, and hear your thoughts about the playful design.
You should review the Giorgio Galli S1 38 mm, Timex is really doing some interesting and, more importantly, original things recently.
I was on the wait list for this watch for about 4 months. I purchased it last week (16-Mar-2023). When it arrived, the GMT function would not work properly - did not move at an hourly pace and would not stay in sync with the hour hand. Called customer service and they would not repair or replace it, would only process a return/refund. Never heard of such a policy. Disappointing for a long term brand. NIce looking watch though.
I have the same issue… purchased one the other week & GMT hand doesn’t track the hours or move for the matter of fact…
Is it factory scratched?
Timex is the watch you buy from the PX that does hard work without complaint or demand. Not sure that I can pay it a higher compliment.
I've been looking for a affordable GMT watch, this is it.
Heyyyy ... Pls make a video on the new bremont audley.
But how loud is the ticking? Genuine question. The last Timex I bought ticked too loudly. I had to send it back and got a Seiko 5 instead.
Great video but I disagree with your comment, just because you can afford Rolex, doesn't mean you should buy one.
Great watches, will not call them cheap but affordable.
I'd say they're cheap. You will not find a watch anything like this that actually works for less money
Videography, script, delivery. 11/10 🫶🏼
Great video as always 🎉
Thanks
There is no shops offwring this watch with this braclet...
I like this aesthetic, but this one with the black dial, GMT hands with the red arrow tip, 24h bezel, date only complication (instead of day-date), metal surrounds on the hour markers, oyster style bracelet (and the Mercedes hands without the Mercedes logo, although this was on the original as well) make it looks TOO similar to the Rolex GMT-Master "Pepsi", fringing on the homage watch category, rather than a thing of its own. The price is great though and the added GMT functionality is definitely a welcome addition. But I'd personally wait for another color way.
The whole q line is solid. I have Chrono & gmt.
A watch my kids can enjoy and learn to tell time with for less than a video game costs. It can't get any better. Think they will loan me the watch for the evening?
I have always loved Timex and have owned many over the years since I was a young child.
Even though this watch is a dime a dozen, it must be a great feeling to hand your watch to Mr Hands and have him get some great shots of it whilst waxing lyrical.
This watch has a ffffxkng waitlist?! When Rolex Disease has even gotten to Timex, it’s all over.
No lume shot?
Creo que Timex se ha equivocado en poner un brazalete tipo Swatch moderno y no algo más vintage como uno tipo grano de arroz. Saludos cordiales desde Madrid, capital del Reino de España.
Do you sell watches in Geneva? Saw your name in the front of a watch store here!
I just can't go back to quartz. Timex has some banger watches including the Marlin automatic.
I might have to give Timex another look.
Even timex i could afford😢 but love your content about timex! Much love watchfinder!
Great vid as always, but please, someone, get Andrew a £4 tube of polywatch for that crystal.
The Best Descriptions yet 😂😂
Blimey
You guys know how to endear your audience to a watch. I own some nice watches, but I really want a timex now.
Who else has the jumping minute hand when you push in the crown to set the time...?
Lmao...."a vendetta against my arm hair", well said!😆
That was a quick reaction to your subscriber's opinions!! 😯😯😯
I don't see this exact watch for sale anywhere.
