    I've been manually turning layers off/on for 10+ years. **headdesk** Timeline is what I'm used to using, but it behaves strange when it comes to adding new layers or affecting frame 1. These days I board direct in the animation program just because I like having the audio synced to what I'm doing, and Storyboard Pro is not an option due to cost.
    Bridge I haven't used but maybe will install, because those template PDFs will save me doing layout when I'm presenting customers with multiple design options.

    thank you I really wanted a video like this 🙏 i've seen a few "boarding in photoshop" videos before, but none explained it in such detail so this is great!! here in brazil nobody uses photoshop for boarding (unless it's advertising work and even then, not that often) (definitely not for feature or tv) but i was trying to focus my portfolio on US feature so this helps a lot 😭 now i finally know how to do it

    If an random artist is reading this after watching the video and wishes to do the same as the video in csp here is my advice:
    You can use the new 3.0 layer comps the same way but i think you should just use animation cells instead, and use folders for the cells, set shortcuts for Menu Comands->animation->edit track- Select previous/Next cell and set an shortcut for each, and another shortcut for create new cell
    You can use pro tho you will be limited to only 24 frames aka cells, you will just have to make another file to continue if you dont have EX
    the rest is the same
    For exporting, I recommend using export animation cells and exporting all of them as pngs, then in another empty canvas Batch import all those pngs, they will be organized as pages internally in csp, which then lets you use Export multiple pages ->pdf which turns each into a pdf page or you can put multiple on a page depending on ur settings.
    Just wanted to add here since photoshop and sb Pro are hella expensive, good luck boarding.

      @@abed8504 Hey! I use the little color things for layouts and shading but I keep the key elements of the shot black. I usually have 3 or 4 layers between shading and the lines but it can be more. The process I use is pretty similar to an animation pipeline tbh. If you want I can send you a few examples.

    great demo! again!! can you elaborate on adding storyboard notes, text, dialogue under each board. watching your workflow here, you've completed the board art, in bridge arranged them to your liking, then, you mention going back to pshop to add text; are you merely going back to your layer comps and adding the text underneath and reexporting to bridge all over again for a new boards with text version? or are you importing the newly formatted pdf pages to photoshop and adding text (extracting pdf pages can be a bit annoying)? pdf even has a clunky text tool so i suppose it could be added there. i can imagine wanting to export final pages formatted on an official studio storyboard template with text areas delineated for filling and labeling; do you have a fav process for that? i suppose with bridge there's other ways to add the text to all you've arranged already without going backwards in your process thus far...

  • @tomodachidisco
    @tomodachidisco 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So if the storyboard are finished, you put all of the images into timeline and add the audio? Or the audio first then storyboard come later? Anyway thanks for sharing. Never knew such a thing as layer comp. I need to dive more to those tools 😤😤😤✨✨✨

    • @Ranarr
      @Ranarr 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've found that working with layer comps doesn't translate well into the timeline function. You can do it, but it's tedious work. I instead use DaVinci Resolve or Premier to edit the audio files along with the images I export from my layer comps. Certain jobs will have audio for you, while others won't. There is a way to work with the Photoshop Timeline and start straight from the audio, but again, compared to layer comps it is slower.

Depends on the production and preference, but at the end of the video if it’s just panels and images you have to worry about, use whatever software you want
