Just my understanding, the whole thing about storyboard is using the minimum drawing to maximise understanding. Kind close manga draft. It's about understand who did what at when, the flow and showing what is important.
Thank you so much! I was just looking up for information and classes about storyboard and this couldn't have come at a better time! Thanks for this part 2!
I was so happy to see "The New Batman Adventures/The Animated Series" Batman design, your breakdown on that part actually helped me a ton. Ive been making an animation using said design
I graduated college but I didn't get a degree in animation (my college didn't have that back when I started in 2013). Instead I majored in Digial Media because that'swhat the admissions office recommended. At first I thought Digital Media was the animation major. But as I progressed through my major, I noticed that majority of my classes were nothing but coding, coding, computer programming, coding, java, coding, cyber security, software development, and coding. Now I get it, computer science pay really good salaries, but it's not something that makes me happy nor can I tollerate it. Like coding really stresses me out because you have to think logically like a computer, problem solve, and tell a computer what to do basically. The most stressful part is trying to run my program and all of a sudden it's either glitchy or doesn't wanna work, all because I missed punctuation or I have a syntax error. Now you might be wondering "Well why didn't you just switch your major? Well I was thinking about switching to Business but I'm bad at public speaking, pitching sales, and accounting. Criminal Justice wasn't really my thing (not to mention that you don't need a degree to become a cop). By the time I graduated in 2019 (I was undecided when I first started college and I had to retake some classes, stupid calculus and discrete math) they added a film major. I could have switch to film but Financial Aid stopped helping pay for my classes and I was at the point of being done with school. Fast forward to today I'm still stuck at the warehouse job that I worked at during college. I tried applying to some office and bank jobs but they wouldn't hire me :( Anyway, I'm not trying to get side tracked. My question is, can I still get into the animation industry with a Digital Media degree, eventhough 90% of my classes are just computer coding classes?
@@BillyBob_McSanchez Literally five days after I've been looking through these videos. Couldn't tell you yet. Biggest 2 tips though. Build up yourself online as a good animator and build your audience (social media, etc) and people will come to YOU asking to work on their stuff. And build connections during collabs with other animators so you'll be someone they call when an opportunity comes up.
This is great info!! I especially appreciate your thoughts on pitching... I just realized that I spend WAYYYY too much time Describing the shot angles and camera movements while they're playing when I pitch 😅
amazing stuff as usual! do you have an example of you pitching a sequence? don't think i've seen anyone do a demo like that except in short bts clips of movies
hi i have a question , what really is a storyboard and whats an animatic , whats the difference? the storyboards you show in the video look like a stop motion animation, in the industry practice are storyboards shown like this video? or as thumbnails and frames in photos .
Animatics can take various forms and some can look like storyboards, some look more polished and others look rougher but in the end it all revolves around the personal style that the creator chose. Meanwhile, storyboards are usually the first step for a full animation made by a team of people. The reason why they look like stop motion and the animation isn't all that smooth is because storyboards are general sketches and don't need to look all too polished and detailed to get the point across, as it specialises on the emotion and general feeling of what scene it's trying to illustrate. Hope this helps! :)
So basically... you're saying don't go OVER BOARD?

buh dum tiss
DON'T GO UNDERBOARD, EITHER!!!!!

Thank you from Russia! You and Aaron Blaise are my favourite teachers and animators!

Look up "how to get hired as an animator" there will be lots of videos going over what you need. Including on this very channel.

@hosvet_animation In other words, networking. See, that's something that college never taught me

Thanks for the intel
Very nice
Too much detail on any project that are in just in the idea or concept stage can hamper the over all creative process.
