  • Today we unbox the Ibanez GRG121SP. As soon as I saw this guitar, I knew I had to get one on the channel. Between the insane paint job and a few of the specs, it's hard to believe this guitar is only $299.

Did the switch headpiece actually come off when you took the protective packaging off? That's a bad sign. I may have to go with the Schecter I was eyeballing. Do you still have this guitar? Have any of the components gone bad? I'm not really looking at something I need to modify. It sure is pretty though.

I dont find it as a bad sign at all this is one of the best guitars at that price Ive bought in a long time even without any mods but after the modsI’ve done its even better can keep up and compare playability wise with guitars double or triple the price . As far as the cap for the switch is hasn’t ever fallen off after this it might not have been pushed down all the way and its made to remove pretty easily if you have to get the switch out for either upgrade or replace. I put dimarzio pickups and locking tuners in it and still has all stock pots and switch with zero issues

@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR Good to know. If I bought this one the only mod I was planning on would be locking Grovers , but that would be the plan with the Schecter too. I'm split.. The Schecter is 500 as opposed to the 300 for the Geo.

I'm done with Sweetwater. My sales engineer left the company without reason. I imagine the ownership change. Just bought one of these for $250 brand new elsewhere.

I need to tell you that potentiometers and pickup switches in gio guitars ale one big piece of s...t! You're buing guitar for around 200 bucks and after few months of playing potentiometers and switch need to be changed for good quality ones. And the most funny thing here is that: gwaranty does not includes malfunctions like this so you need to pay for replaicing those parts in authorised service or lose gwaranty by replaicing them on your own. Oh, and another thing: it's very common that neck, bridge, intonation and even pickups height are setup wrong. If you put 100 bucks to regulate guitar after buying it - sounds like a pro.
