    What the Greeks have contributed to our food culture cannot be understated. Inventing grilling 4,000 years ago, and even bread, the beginnings of fast food. I’ve been fortunate to grow up in a city of diverse cultures, and had many Greek friends . The combination of lemon , oregano, olive oil that’s frequently used is nothing short of magical. Let’s not forget the Greek salads with feta, anything more superior? Although many recipes to make this, I’m looking forward to making this . Looks like a winner hands down. Thank you.

      @@jodifinnegan4453 Totally agree. The European bakers are masters of their craft. But if anyone is fortunate enough to experience an authentic Greek pastry shop, let’s just say it’s “sublime “.

      Update. Just made this 5 star dinner for 4 people for 10$ .Easy , simple ,and crazy delicious . Used bone in skin on leg quarters , on sale 79 cents a pound. Dry brine garlic salt and oregano overnight. Put the leg quarters on the outside grill while rice was on the stove. Used bottled lemon juice, sorry. Used more oregano as well, because I love it. Legs back on the rice and in the oven for 20 minutes. Perfection. Made Greek style warm potato salad as well. The usual suspects, olive oil, lemon juice, ( or vinegar) oregano, salt pepper, added while potatoes are warm to absorb . Warm or cold, crazy delicious. Making this lemon chicken forever . Ps, my son hates dark meat, I saw a leg quarter missing , rice was gone.😱

    I had this at O'Hare airport of all places, by in the early 2000's.
    My dish had potatoes also...
    The rice was so good, the Chicken was excellent & the potatoes had my wanting more.
    I usually not a "thigh-guy" but this bowled me over.
    Gotta try this at home.
    *Thanks for reminding me*

    • @CadaverBuffet
      @CadaverBuffet 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lower heat, keep the lid on, and cook for longer. Every time you remove the lid, you’re releasing steam, which cooks the rice from the top down. Bring it to a boil, and lower the heat down low and leave it alone for at least 20-25 minutes (in a dish like this) if you keep the heat too high, it’ll burn to the bottom. Use an instant read thermometer on the chicken if you use that in your dish and ensure it gets to at least 160F degrees before removing from the pan and resting.

  • @josephdallal6567
    @josephdallal6567 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you tried burying the chicken breast under the rice prior to cooking to prevent the drying out (or is it primarily temperature control for breast?)? My wife doesn’t like the thigh meat but also doesn’t like dry breast. Thank you for your efforts to make well edited teaching videos.

    The water of rinse rice could be used for your face.
    Put rinse rice water on your clean face before you go to bed. Wash your face in the morning. After a week, your skin face would be lighter.

    The water/rice ratio is off, rice was al dente. 2 cups rice should be way more than 2 cups water. Took chicken out and put on stove with more water, stirred, and continued to cook then steam. I used boneless skinless breasts but added them for the last 20 minutes of cooking in oven. Took temp, added 5 more min and was good. That's when I realized rice was under cooked. Otherwise tasty.

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @michiganderintexas

      It was basmati rice. I googled and it is classified as a long grain rice. Maybe basmati needs more soaking time.
