A CVT is a transmission which can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. This contrasts with other mechanical transmissions that only allow a few different distinct gear ratios to be selected. The flexibility of a CVT allows the driving shaft to maintain a constant angular velocity over a range of output velocities.
My Dad got a red 2005 rental Maxima from Enterprise once. I borrowed it for the day. What a car! Throttle was touchy as heck, barely touch it and you were flying. Great brakes, handling, sound, looks, power, etc. Loved it! No way can I afford one right now though...
Very nice, my girlfriend and I just purchased this car for her yesterday, sort of almost on point with my infiniti. Great car, same color and everything.
The fact a 2007 Maxima shares the identical keyfob to a 2017 Maxima is kind of sad really. Still the facelifted 07 Maxima looks a lot better than the early 04-06 versions. Above all, the interior center stack felt significantly more upscale instead of a giant slab of plastic, something the 09-14 Maxima reverted to.
I like my 2004 maxima se, an I'm not scared of repair work, ebay an you tube definitely helps, so if you get your hands on one, it's do able, if you just don't want that car note
It is a nice car. I personally rather have a traditional moonroof than that glass piece going down the center. And I feel like Nissans reliability and durability’s average to above average. Not as good as Some cars but also better than so some cars.
Yes i had an 05 Maxima. The one thing about these is the transmission (04-06). And their camshaft sensors need to be bought from Nissan. The 07-08 where the most reliable ones imo. For this gen
@jsnevels2 Part 5 TL has Standard hill start assist. Better suspension (Technology). Larger stabilizer bar. Larger wheels. ACE body structure. More advanced Traction and power control systems. Tl is 5 inches Longer then maxima. An inch wider then maxima, TL has a larger passenger volume, Larger tow capacity. Tl has more Leg room, Shoulder room, And headroom! And Lastly, The TL 6Speed does 0-60 in 5.2 Seconds. :)
When it was new, it was a nice car. Now at 10 years old, I wouldn't be surprised if it's completely trashed. 22 inch rims, slipping transmission, and probably has a title loan on it
James Amona not really the 5 speed were the problematic transmissions. Cvts didnt really have this problem a few rare cases. I have a 2005 but i want a 2007 or 8 they look sharper and the interior is a lot better too
Nice vid, as usual. While you were driving did you have it in manumatic? Love the sound of the Q series V6 though :D lots of power too! Would be sweet in black with a stick haha
Wooow! El mio es igualito, gris, vestiduras en velour y con ese raro strip sky view roof. (I thought I was watching mine imported from Texas!) Una compra de oportunidad. Todavía se maneja muy bien en 2021.
@jsnevels2 Part4 The TL Has a telematics system. XM nav weather. XM nav traffic. 10 Way power seat. 8 way pass. seat! Standard automatic memory seats. Standard heated seats. 10 Speakers. Dvd player. Usb port standard. Standard HID headlights (Xenon)... Programmable Perimeter Lighting. Auto tilt mirrors. Auto fold in mirrors. privacy glass. Multifunction Smart Key with more features. More Torque. ULEV 2. (Maxima has ULEV 1even with a smaller motor -_-) Standard Paddles... STILL GOING>
Nice car. My 2009 Mazda CX-9 has the same key setup. If the key is within the car then you can turn the car in with the knob by the steering wheel. It has BOSE too.
@jsnevels2 Part3 Now lets crunch some numbers. TL AWD... 42 Grand fully loaded... Maxima SV 40 Grand fully loaded.... But here is the thing, The TL Has more power. It has an optional 6 speed, Gets the same MPG as the Nissan. The TL has a better residual value. Better warranty. More memory adjustments. Better voice recognition. Standard rear view Camera with guidance. 12.4 GB's of free space to rip music, and it still has a 6 disk changer optional. Not done yet...
@jsnevels2 Part 6 Your WHP numbers are way wrong. I just did some research and found out that the accord EX makes 152 to the wheels. I dont know about the Altima, but numorious websites are suggesting About 133.2 WHP for the CVT, About a 26 % loss is what is happening down there. That number would make sense for the Altima doing slower 0-60's then the accord EX. Hmm :D
@jsnevels2 Heres the thing. Have you driven a honda with a V6? It sounds like you have not? The J35 in the Accord V6 makes 85% of its torque at 1500 RPM. All J series motors do that. I would just like to point out that Nissan does not race anymore. Honda does, and when nissan did race... They only used the VQ35 in the 350Z from 04 to 07. Thats what i know about VQ racing.
Forr some reason i like this car. I have a 2006 jeep srt8,1986 mustang gt and.a 2004 range rover and im kind of looking for another car to drive bk and forth and this car seems nice to me. it shouldnt, but it does.
my sister just bought a 2010 Sentra SR, nice little car. Definitely best thing under $20k. I love the older Maxima's, but I'm not too sure about the brand new ones =\
Not really. A CVT's merits are based more on opinion than fact, because there really isn't much of a benefit of one over the other. You may think it's a nice transmission, but my preference is for distinguishable gear changes.
I had one of these cars back in 2020 and sadly it was the worst car I’ve owned so far. It gave me nothing but problems the entire time I owned it. I went to go get it registered and the 02 sensor failed and the check engine light came on. After that there was a bubble in the coolant system so my temp gauge was all over the place, I got stuck in snow and one of the coolant hoses broke, after that the flex pipe was clogged so the car would feel like it was going to stall especially going up hill.
@Zumoffj The altima 3.5 has more hp and trq . But when it's a cvt it's runs the same 1/4 and 0-60 as this maxima! Both do the 1/4 in 14.8 sec and do 0-60 in 6.3
No it does not it just beeps 3x and will remain on until you turn it off. Also, if you leave the car on in accessory and walk away, someone can start the car and drive off.
@jsnevels2 PART2 Noooo... The 190 HP K24 Makes the SAME mpg as the 177. And torque has nothing to do with MPG estimates. A car can be tourqey and get great mileage (EcoBoost) Higher redline? Its not much longer then the Altimas. And that still should not make a difference in efficiency. Now about the maxima. Nice! He has a fully loaded maxima. Maxima is not comparable to the accord as it is obviously in a different class...
@jsnevels2 UM YES! At some point in your life (Once your old enough to drive in 3 years) You WILL indeed have to tow something.. And the towing capacity of the TL shows that it has a stronger more willing power train then the maxima.
@jsnevels2 PART3 Now let me ask you a question... Your dads maxima costed him 40 Grand correct? 9 Grand more then a fully loaded accord with most of the same features, And bassically the SAME price as a brand new 305 HP Acura TL SH-awd correct? Now please dont tell me that the maxima is a better car then the TL. Because you would clearly be lying to yourself. Now, a fully loaded SV maxima weighs 3750 lbs A fully loaded accord Weighs 3559... I thought the accord was fat?
I'm getting this car in a couple of weeks! Thanks for the video it helps knowing what I'm getting! 😄
How has it been?
Did you ever get it? If so, do you still have it?
Update?
I've never understood the weird sunroof strip in the middle of the car
it was a weird option: it was a fixed moonroof.
That was stupid wasn't it
One of the cleanest Maximas I've ever seen

There's a key in the bottom to unlock the door. Once inside, there is a slot that you put the dead remote in that allows the car to start.
