I’m so excited, I’m going to apply this year even though applications haven’t started I’m binging all the CSSSA videos. The thing I’m actually worried about though is assignment e part 1 lol I have faced little to no adversity and although I know I am mature to the point where they are looking for, it was all internal and I have no way of showing that in a paragraph, I’m taking AP Euro but that’s not that hard for me lol Edit I ran out of videos to watch, I’ve seen them all😂
I like your art style and your typed statement about how you accomplish difficult tasks a lot! I am hoping to apply for 2023 and I was wondering if you had any advice for the portrait section of the application, and if you know any tips about out-of-state applications. Also, what was the medium of your Joji drawing? Digital? Oil?
Thank you so much! To answer your last question, I did my Joji drawing digitally. I’m not too sure about the details for out of state, but I recall hearing that usually around 20 are out of state across all departments which sounds really competitive (but don’t quote me on it, I still encourage u to apply of course) As for advice on the portrait section, these prompts change every year, so it may not be the exact same assignment this year. I’d say what worked for me was to really hit up 3 spots across the application: really show off your technical skill, your personal style, and your creative direction. hope u get in!!! I just found out about CSSSA and im in my freshmen year. It's already Feb 22nd and deadline is 28th so I'm already terrifyingly late. So I'm applying next year! I Wish you luck!!!
Hi, do you think you learned anything new in the animation department at csssa? What was your experience like? Also would you ever decide to go to csssa again?
I learned so so much at CSSSA- It’ll be hard to summarize it in one response but I think the most impactful parts of CSSSA animation for me as an artist was definitely animation history class, which is super intriguing and I feel like not talked about enough, and figure drawing class. I had never done any kind of figure drawing before so it was a crazy experience and watching myself improve was pretty cool. Overall, CSSSA was an amazing experience, the best part is talking to new people and making some really close friends. Tbh, I would not attend CSSSA again 1. because I am a senior now and I will have graduated by CSSSA 2023 and I would like time to relax and hopefully go on my senior trip and 2. because I feel like for me CSSSA was such a unique and one time experience that going again would never live up to the first time- and I don’t want that comparison Hope this helps!
