$4,600 for california residents, and about 8k for outside residents. You can apply for financial aid. I got accepted in the 2024 program and got a full scholarship so now I do not have to pay anything.

Sorry for the late response! The Disneyland field trip costed $190, which covered transportation, admission to the Disneyland Park & Disney’s California Adventure Park (1-Day Hopper Ticket), a $25 meal voucher, & chaperones. Hope this helps!

If you know your friend's full name and they are the same age as you, you can request to dorm together if you both get into the program. CSSSA admins will send out a "Dorm form" to best match students with other students. When it's sent out, both you and your friend must enter eachother's information for a chance to dorm together. Thank you so much! To answer your last question, I did my Joji drawing digitally. I’m not too sure about the details for out of state, but I recall hearing that usually around 20 are out of state across all departments which sounds really competitive (but don’t quote me on it, I still encourage u to apply of course) As for advice on the portrait section, these prompts change every year, so it may not be the exact same assignment this year. I’d say what worked for me was to really hit up 3 spots across the application: really show off your technical skill, your personal style, and your creative direction. I learned so so much at CSSSA- It’ll be hard to summarize it in one response but I think the most impactful parts of CSSSA animation for me as an artist was definitely animation history class, which is super intriguing and I feel like not talked about enough, and figure drawing class. I had never done any kind of figure drawing before so it was a crazy experience and watching myself improve was pretty cool. Overall, CSSSA was an amazing experience, the best part is talking to new people and making some really close friends. Tbh, I would not attend CSSSA again 1. because I am a senior now and I will have graduated by CSSSA 2023 and I would like time to relax and hopefully go on my senior trip and 2. because I feel like for me CSSSA was such a unique and one time experience that going again would never live up to the first time- and I don’t want that comparison Hope this helps!

So this year CSSSA was only open to California residents due to COVID, I think they used to take international students (don’t quote me on that). I’d say just check the CSSSA website for more information when application season comes. As for tuition, It was ~$4k this year but I’ve heard that previous years was much less expensive (maybe $2k?). CSSSA is very good with scholarships and paying for you if that’s any problem, so Id say don’t worry about money if it’s a main concern!
