Great reaction. Though there is a bit that you didnt get. Dax says that he doesnt need religion but spirituality. Spirituality has absolutely nothing to do with religion. And Christianity, Islam, Budhism and so on and so forth are all part and parcel of set rules and doctrines, therefore entirely a religion. That is why he says he doesn't need to hear it from the book but directly from god itself.
I can certainly understand where he's coming from. However I do believe God created religion, it even tells us what "pure religion and undefiled" is in the Bible, but Satan created his millions of counterfeits. With men only interested in power or wealth, not anyone's physical, let alone spiritual, well being.
The richest person on Earth cannot solve poverty by dividing up their riches. Let's say that rich person has $277 billion. World population is just under 8 billion. Dividing that rich person's money among everyone on earth would give each person less than $35.00. And it would leave that rich person with no money at all, and therefore no longer able to do any of the things they may have done to help society. Now, if we limit the distribution to adults only, it would increase each amount some, but it certainly wouldn't solve poverty. All it would do would be give them a little extra money that will likely be spent by the end of the week. If there is a means test for recipients, that would raise the amount to each person. But then someone has to determine where the line is drawn. And those just above that line (therefore not receiving funds) will resent now having no more than the poorest people in the world. Remember, even after everyone receives that money, they will still be the poorest. I'd bet then we'd still be talking about poverty. But I do understand your sentiment, your heart is good.
