Wanna know what I love about these highlights? Look at how Reggie tackles, he doesn't launch himself like a missile for helmet to helmet trying to kill people. He remembers to just tackle, he wraps up, brings you down. Doesn't try to be fancy, and the way he celebrates, simple and humble. GOD I wish we had more Reggie Whites, but then there'd be no offense in the NFL XD.

Thank you Philadelphia for making the inexcusable mistake off letting go of Reggie. He made everyone on that Packers D better. He made Sean Jones better, he made Santana Dotson better, and he made Gilbert Brown better.
Reggie, Favre, Holmgren and Wolf turned Green Bay back into winners. I’m glad we got a ring for him.

    • @PaulGaither
      @PaulGaither 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

You can thank SF for choosing George Siefert over Holmgren to take over for Walsh.
Mike Holmgren desperately wanted the 49ers job. He wanted it after George left, but they chose Mooch, so Mike went to Seattle.
Later, after Seattle, Mike went on record wanted to be the GM of the 49ers, but settled for the Browns.
In 2015/2016 he wanted to be the head coach after Harbaugh and/or be the GM but SF always turned him down. I don't know why.
Imagine a time line where Holmgren was the HC since 89 and he didn't help green bay take over the NFC in the 90's and it remained Dallas vs SF and then just SF after Dallas was done and no green bay... And then what he did with the Seahawks, but kept it up with SF. It could have been close to Belichick levels.
A ring in 89 and 94 and maybe another in between. Maybe the ring in 96 instead of Green Bay and a chance in 97.

@@1990Thunderbolt - I don't know how sarcastic you are being, but it is true.
Well, Brady wouldn't have been used as well with that squad as the Patriots used him. The staff was not good.
However, everybody expected Rodgers to get drafted by SF and the world was shocked when they took capitan check down.
Also, hindsight is 20/20 but SF had the #2 pick in 2017 and only had Hoyer the destroyer at QB. Watson and Mahomes were in their lap and they went with Solomon Thomas. Sure, they later got Jimmy G, but you cannot tell me that an unproven rookie Watson and Mahomes mobility are NOT what Shanahan wants/needs in his zone scheme with play action and bootlegs.

This is not my first view of the video, but I noticed two new things that made me love Reggie as a player even more.
    1. You couldn’t block him one-on-one in any situation whether it’s off the edge or on the interior.
    2. You couldn’t double team him when he was lined up on the interior. He said that the interior was his favorite place to line up because that’s where he won the most. He was too quick for centers and guards.
I’ve never seen that kind of dominance in my life, and I might not ever see it again. There have been a lot of great defensive linemen over the years, but I’m sorry, I couldn’t find one as good as the Minister of Defense.

The scariest thing about Reggie White is how Bill Belichick, who was the defensive coordinator for the Giants at the time, pined really hard for the Giants to draft him, but the front office instead chose to draft an OL instead, who ended up never playing for the Giants anyway. Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor could have helped the Giants create dynasty for several years from that time. Thank God the Giants did not listen to Belichick.

It's a shame his faith was barely mentioned in the video. With all this talk about race mattering these days, I have to say that as a Christian of a different race than myself, Reggie White was an inspiration to me as a young man showing that no matter what your job was or what you did that you are a representative of Christ. He did that very well and "ministered" to a lot of his coworkers. That is just as big of a part of his legacy as his many sacks. Someone doesn't have to look like you to make an impact.
