Multicultural education will help educators and teachers understand various aspects of a multicultural education, with specific emphasis on the four dimensions brought forth by James Banks. These dimensions are used as a sort of framework for educators. The four dimensions that are explored in this video include content integration, knowledge design, prejudice reduction, equity pedagogy. Each of these dimensions are explored in full detail using animations to help classroom teachers get a deep understanding of a multicultural education. The second half of the video discusses some types of multicultural curriculum reform approaches brought forth by Banks. The first approach mentioned in the video is the contributions approach. That consists of adding content of culturally specific groups directly into your lessons during special holidays. Continuing, the next approach is the additive approach. After that comes the transformation approach to curriculum reform. This way aims to make long lasting changes to the school curriculum for all subjects.
