    Nice video guys. I’ve have good success with ultrasonic cleaning of carbs, saves a bit of disassembly and baths are reasonable priced in recent years. I always liked the Gixxer Slabside, keep posting videos with classic bikes!

    Carbs are lots of work, I have a 1991 GSXR 1100 M and it still runs well. I spent quite some time in getting the carbs sorted, just did a 1200km ride with it and she performed well. Got at least 13km/l at an average speed of 140km/h and the Hayabusa's are annoyed by her, they can't seem to get away from miss M....lol
    Awesome video guys.

    Nice video guys. The bike sounded like crap during the first few tests but good at the end. My bikes a '88 GSX1100F with 115,000 km on it (bone stock right down to the mufflers) and will still almost rip the arms off under full acceleration, but over the last couple of days it quit idling so I think a pilot jet must have some issues. It sounds like it's hitting on 2 or 3 cylinders until revs get above 2000 and then it comes alive. I wish I had a place where I could work on it myself.

    Great to see some mechanical bikes for a change. Personally I feel the industry is heading off a cliff, where they offer just more and more power, and with all of that power they squeeze in more and more electronics just because most people don't want to learn how to ride. So many youtubers spend most of the time drewling over who got the most toys on their dashboard, and how it feels to ride just fades away into nothingness. Who gives a shit about spending half an hour pressing buttons and swiping here and there just to head out for a ride. Come on people...

I've read/watched that the rim of the float runs parallel with the floatbowl seat, yet if I set the floats to 14.6mm measuring from the top of the float to floatbowl seat they are miles from parallel. Do I need new needle valves? Cheers to anyone that replies 😁

      The airbox is very hard to get in and out with the engine in the frame, even with the carbs off, unless of course you destroy it, but DONT do that :-) The part number for K&N is RC-1824.
      But honestly for everyday riding, and smooth carburation stick with the stock airbox, You'll never get that crisp smooth response with pod filters on CV carbs. If you really want to ditch the airbox and can afford it, get some Mikuni RS Flat Slides, 36mm, those work great.

    • @1986XRV8
      @1986XRV8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've owned these GSXR's since 1989 and have done a lot of different combinations on them. They're best for street and light track work with the stock airbox and a good airfilter. If you do run pod filters just stick with the Mukuni jets and needles. The aftermarket jet kits run way too rich.

      How many turns out were you on the air fuel mixture screws?

    • @DJ_Driven
      @DJ_Driven 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're referring to the brass plug possibly blocking the air fuel mixture screw from being adjusted, you have to use the correct drill bit very slowly, when it just pierces through you pry it out with a pick tool and you're good to go. Slowly back the air fuel screw into where just bottoms out without using too much power and normally about 1 to 1.5 turns out max. You know you'll have it right when you hear the engine pitch change by adjusting at the Sweet spot.

    Taking the carbs in and out on these bikes with the factory air box in place is a cast iron cunt! add in 35 year old inlet rubbers that have turned rock hard and you are in for fun times.
    I got mine in by heating up all the inlet rubbers in a pot of armour-all then quickly cleaning them off and bolting them on then fitting the carbs on while they were still warm. (the inlets have to go into their matching cylinder but the part number tells you which ones are which) it was still an arse pain and took two of us. Having pod filters would make it much easier due to having room, but my bike is a stock restoration. Just need a original exhaust, they are out there but hard to find in my country.
