I do own a 1999 TT MK1(8n) coupe and its a 180 hps (132 KW) Quattro and one single exhaust (5 gear clutch). Never seen my type/model ever on the dutch roads. I guess its a rare model or at the time of production/sales less popular. I bought my model because it is without the later adapted spoiler and never made use of the free of charge spoiler mounting by Audi. I have driven it for more than 18 years now (second owner). Bought it secondhand as soon as I could afford it. Since the introduction of the MK1 I found it instanlly super nice shaped car. More than 340.000 km's run already and sill going strong and I hope that there many more years to come! Don't like the looks of the MK2 and MK3 although they have a better mech. performance.
If you intend to by a secondhand TT check how may owners it had before. The more owners the more problems to be expected.

      @TheParrottBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

That’s a brilliant story! Nice to have had it for that long as you know it’s been well cared for and you’ve done whats needed when it’s needed. They look so strange without a spoiler as in the UK you just don’t see them without a spoiler. Cool story behind them though and of course it’s where they come from.
Nice to see your using it as much as possible with that mileage. Yeah your probably not wrong there is a few exceptions but like anything the more hands something passes through the worse it is 😂😂

Slight Tech update Dominic, upto 2002 the roadster 150 bhp came with Ko3 turbo, cable, when the range got face lifted in 2003 and it got the Bosch ME 7.1 ECU the 150 was given the Ko3s DBW and tuned down for production cost reasons

Hello. I’m thinking about purchasing a 2003 Audi TT New transmission valve body, new headlight assemblies and new bulbs. Minimal rust, frame still has underbody coating. Transmission shifts a little rough still after new valve body, should just need to be driven to correct shifting. Like new tires and brakes. I’m wondering if I should considering value body issue after replacement. Any advice.

I purchased my 2005 Mk1 Roadster in Brilliant Red 4 years ago. Why because “I fell in love” with it. At the time of writing it’s done around 129.000 and is just so sweet to drive. I keep it regularly serviced and with its age I’m starting to spend a few quid on it, although no adaptions. When I first bought it all I wanted to do was drive about and enjoy it in my own private little way. Occasionally I will get someone shout over to me “I love your car”. ... It wasn’t until the other day when I was looking all over the place on how to remove the high level “3rd Brake light” I discovered just why others also love their TT’s .... A previous owner has very poorly lacquered the light housing, along with the boot spoiler and door mirror housings. My daughters boyfriend is an absolute gem of a paint sprayer and will be sorting this out.... So getting back to the story, whilst I was looking I came across your videos. After seeing the passion and knowledge you spill out, I felt I had to subscribe. Loving the videos!🍻 . P.s.... I still haven’t found much on that high level 3rd brake light removal yet🤔

Thanks for taking the time to message and tell your cars story. It’s always nice to know how others got into tt ownership! I was similar when I found mine.
So I’ve never had to change the 3rd brake light in a roadster no would guess it’s done from the boot but I could be wrong. If your on Facebook join the tt MK1 forum page someone is bound to know
If you take a look at this link it shows how it mounts on to the boot. 7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Audi/brand/3/0/TT%252FTTS/Audi%20TT%252FTTS%20Coupe%252FRoadster%20(1999%20-%202006)/Audi/VEdhV0lBcE95WjNtTkFVRDdPcHo1QT09--/6bbffde8b5b8077d2d0a5796da6eea3c:a1fd1ff34b8141d9feef0f44f57538c4/universal/10101-%3E11507-%3E11524/229945600::945060::394833

Nice vid, mate! I think your channel is very helpful!
I'll throw in some additional information to clear some things up as well as making the confusion even greater simultaneously. :D
I just checked some Audi pricing lists from 2005/6. German ones though, so I'm not 100% sure if they're applicable to the UK or the rest of the world.
First of all, the 150 PS AUM engine wasn't limited to the roadster. Originally it was available since January 2001. It just took almost two years for it to be adopted for the coupe after that.
In September '05 Audi replaced the 150/180 PS engines with slightly more powerful ones. The power was raised by 10 kW each to 163 and 190 PS. Those two are quite rare to find (I got the former one from '06 though, hehe) since Audi produced roughly only 10000 TTs in the last model year, if I read the statistics correctly. As far as I know there are no big differences to their predecessors except the software. Moreover, the 225 hasn't been sold anymore as of 2006.
Xenon headlights were standard equipment only with the 6-cylinder versions and the quattro sport. They were optional for every other 1.8T model. On the other hand, one could order the headlight cleaning system in combination with regular halogen headlights... Weird.
The 6-speed automatic transmission ("Tiptronic") was indeed only available for the 180 and 190 PS models.
The K03S turbo is a misconception. Borg Warner produced only two turbochargers for the TT, the K03 for the "small" 1.8Ts and the K04 for the 225. During the later model years BW revisioned the K03. The only real difference is the compressor wheel, which now had eight instead of twelve wings, making it a bit more robust. Output stayed the same and it's still called K03 by the manufacturer.
I read that in a mail someone wrote to BW asking about this topic, published on some forum. They also stated that the newer K03 turbos can take up to 220 PS / 217 bhp. Definitely worth considering before upgrading to a larger K04. Don't quote me on that though. ;)
The safest way to tell which engine is inside the TT is to take off the engine cover and have a look on the left side of the engine block. There should be a small embossing with the engine code (e.g. AJQ, AUQ, BAM, BVP, AUM, etc.).
I hope thats helps. Have a nice evening!

TT quattro has haldex system not torsen so its primarily fwd unless traction is lost in the front then the rear or quattro system haldex comes on unless a hpa controller is fitted to overcome the haldex approach...turning on full quattro similar to torsen.Volkswagen use the same haldex system in the golf etc...but call it 4motion.

    Great video. Informative as always.
Hi Guys. I'm currently looking to buy a mk1 225. As I understand earlier cars have the APX engine code with later ones having the BAM designation. Anyway I found a car I like, did a background check on it but the engine number came up as NK013700.
I have been looking at forums for a while now but have never come across this designation before.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom.

      Hey Tom,
usually the engine code is only 3 characters so not sure what that designation is. I would ask the seller to check and send you a pic of engine tag that is engraved or the boot sticker / sticker in owners manual. That will give you a definitive answer. I have a 2001 Bam in mine. • @TheParrottBros

That could be a number of things, n75 failing, boost leak, bad maf etc. Have you got a boost gauge?
Unplug your maf and see if it still does it, if it doesn’t it’s that.
But like Rhys said could be a boost leak, it’s certainly not a coilpack as they usually fail under load not just at 3k

The Parrott Bro’s yeah! 150-163-180-190-225-3.2 with lots of variations between uk and Europe I’d say. Fun fact is I fell in love with the TT because of a wonderful 150 roadster, light blue (like lighter than denim and with a bit of silver in it), grey leather/alcantara interior, parabols and electric roof (which was an optional on the 150 but was included in the 180 and 225). It was awesome, a real unicorn. And then we got a 225. We had to exaggerate 🤣
