    the KT keeps the highend without getting harsh while the warm has more mids but that can cause it to sound muddy or dull. basically one is more for color one is more for control both sound great

    The LIN76 is my new favorite out of the 1176 clones. I bought one and it sounds beautiful!!

      I got a lin76 and returned it, sounded like ass, muffled the high end, over emphasized the low mids and lows. When I say muggled, I could boost 12 db on my eq and still get no high end out of it.
      Sounded terrible to me. I replaced it with a KT76, sounds miles ahead and is less expensive.

    Wow, the KT is a lot better then I thought! I felt like it stood with the warm.

    With the acoustic guitar I immediately noticed they react differently on the same settings, so to me this test has only showed me that the Klark Teknik has a faster attack at the same setting. In some of the vocal tests some people perceive a more roundness in the warm audio, but to me this is nothing but the warm audio being slower, I bet lowering the attack in the KT and a slower release will get you almost the same as the warm audio.

    i hear a ton of added harmonic content in the WARM unit. The bass became muddier in the low mids, and you can definitely hear the added saturation make the guitar sound more full. This is a matter of taste, IMO- the warm's 'color' sounds better/more pleasing to me in the shootout, but the added densiity would be more difficult place in a dense mix...

    Same, but prefer the KT based on price.

    KT def more transparent, if you are looking for more analog color the WA does a better job, neither are a 76 but I honestly think if you are just trying to get away from plugins I would take the more transparent one. I do like what the Warm Audio one is doing more to these sounds over-all though. KT has way less saturation, which is what most people are looking for in a 76, so.. even though the KT def isn't as close to being a 1176, it's still very cool/useable.

    The KT on drums sounds just slightly more punchy. I think I like that better. I can’t hear a huge difference otherwise.

  • @willsantos3781
    @willsantos3781 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    One of those, pick flavor kind of thing. Warm Audio has a midrange lift kind of thing as well as sounding a bit more round and colored. The KT sounds alot more transparent and untouched as far as processing. But it handles the transients very well, and doesnt blur the high frequencies. Well done.

    • @Jimbo386000
      @Jimbo386000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Will Santos yeah the WA sounds more like an old style compressor unit, the KT to me sounds like it has the old style compression with a newer, cleaner sound.

      @@Jimbo386000 I agree. The KT is more transparent and it does sound really good. However, the Warm Audio sounds closer to an actual 1176 which is the point of it. You get more 1176 character at a Warm Audio price, which is great. The KT looks like an 1176, but sounds more like it's own thing.

    • @Jimbo386000

    The Klark has more high end. Warm has a duller top, but warm body. I’d prob by the Klark on price and maybe trip some high end if needed. My Great River has a Iron button that shaves off the top end a bit...to sound like an old neve. That would be a good mod to the Klark to get both.

    My opinion: Warm Audio although very good it colors maybe too much ? And the KT is very transparent... Again, some people love that.
    I like to color the sound sometimes but I feel like I’m somewhere in between these two, maybe a little bit towards the KT, I guess one can always color the sound a bit in post.
    Which one did you like ?

      Both, are great for the money. with that said the warm sounded best to my ear. I could hear distortion in the Klark at points and the warm sounded much smoother to me The warm also had loads more head room and output volume.

      I thought that the Klark added a bit more body in the mid range and the warm was more clear sounding on the top, but I actually like that much better. Just like the pultech review, I thought that the Klark sounded better. But I think that warm does a better job on the La2a shootout. Go figure lol

    Tell me please. I bought Klark1176. But I can not understand the output and input knob. I set the output control to level 30, the input control to 18. The volume of my Golden Age preamp is at input 45, and the output knob is about the same. I look at my daw, the vocal track is too loud. Do I need to lower the volume on the preamp or compressor? What am I doing wrong. Say the approximate value. I just started using an analog compressor. Plugins for these values worked quietly. Thanks for the answer.

    I listened to expensive headphones and despite the fact that TH-cam also compresses the sound,
    I hear Warm Audio sounds wider and warmer. More low mids and a silky soft top.
    Klark sounds cleaner, sharper, more metallic sound especially in the high frequencies.
    For me, Warm is definitely the winner!
    But if you are an audiophile, the difference is not huge, but there is.
    PS
    Listening to music and especially working with Clark, you will get tired faster than Warm Audio.

    The KT sounds great on first listen. Similar vibe with a clearer top end. Then when you provide some critical listening, it's just a cacophony in the top end, really breaking up and adding some nasty distortion. A few stacks of that and following it up with any subsequent top end boost and you could be in for a real mess.

      In the context of a full mix, you (or anyone else) would NEVER hear a difference between a vocal through KT versus Warm or most anything else. The $300 difference would go a long way to purchasing another piece of gear

    • @blakealanfoster
      @blakealanfoster หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol.... Shit gear today would be fucking insane to engineers in the 60s and 70s. People are quick to call gear bad when even some cheaper gear today does exactly what you need it to do. If you think this Klark compressor is shitty I would reckon you probably don't even really know how to use compression. It's def not an 1176, but it's a pretty damn good compressor for 300 bucks.
