I agree. I originally thought the windows would need the second curtains, but I like the simplicity of only having them on one side and allowing in more natural light..
I love the fact that you used what you already have instead of going out and buying a bunch of stuff. I even kind of like the curtains as they are. They seem to sufficiently block light and yet can easily be pushed to either side without being bulky. Proof our children appreciate neat and tidy.
I absolutely loved the moment the boys saw their room. They were so excited and happy with the work you put in, even though there weren't many "new" items. I started to tear up when they started hugging each other because they were so caught up in their happiness. I am currently in the process of trying to make better spaces for my children as well. Thanks for the inspiration.

A cute idea for artwork in the boys room would be to take pictures of lego creations or train layout that they make, then enlarge and frame. They would get a kick out of that! Or you could frame their artwork .
Yes, or one of those little teepees in the corner with a rug or cushions/beanbag for cozying up and reading. Just a thought as it's quite a big space, which is great for playing and "activities!", that a teepee/one of those draped curtain on a hoop type teepee things in the corner might make a cozy space for quiet time.
I also love to see Ranger. He seems so loving and gentle. I actually like how the curtains were o lay on the outside of the windows it made the room more open and lighted.
I think one idea for books would be have kids books on shelves in basement or elsewhere and let them check out books like a library, limiting them to a certain amount checked out at one time. Loved your room make over too!
I love the room - it turned out simple, cohesive and very welcoming. I can see why all your little ones - including with little one Ranger - are drawn to that sunlit room to play. I've noticed Ranger following his mum about when you're doing your thing - and I've noticed the same thing with puppers on other organising and decluttering and life channels - where mum will whip the camera about and there is pup watching every move and managing the mum's progress 😊
ACTUALLY the curtains look great AS IS!!! They keep the room looking “open” and they give the illusion when the panels are pulled back that the window is not two tiny windows but one large window. I really like it!
It used to be a thing in castles and stuff to just have one curtain on each window and in a room with two windows and just tie them back during the day on the outside edges of each window. I think you could totally rock that if you decide you didn't want to purchase more curtains! 😊
Ranger is just gorgeous! Love the way he follows around. I would keep the single curtain on each window, it looks less cluttered that way to me. And maybe get a rug or some bean bags/floor cushions instead, it's those comforts available which make me get down on the floor to play too! Plus can double up as a reading nook/den area. I always think it's amazing what spaces you can create just moving some furniture around. You've created so much floor space having the beds side by side.
I love that you "Achilles' heel" is too many books! What a great thing to have too many of, and how amazing that the boys are learning the love a reading...as a teacher I see that this interest is being lost by so many kids so celebrate your abundance of books!

Minimom, has a giant drawstring bag for her boy’s legos. When open it’s a circular rug on which to play their legos. When they are finished they make sure all the legos are on it and pull the drawstring which turns it into a big bag of legos to slide away under the bed.
I thought Rebecca looked a little sad when she saw the boy's new room setup; like she was wondering when her room would get a makeover. It's great that you can reuse and repurpose what you already have to completely transform their room into a more functional space for them .I think Ranger is a German Shepherd/Great Dane mix. No matter his breed, he is a very loving companion for the whole family.

I loved watching the broom sweep under the bed…. brought back memories. My two daughters were like living with the odd couple! The older one was like Felix, she would say she loved that time between when she got home from school and I got home from work. She would vacuum and pretend that it was her apartment! On the other hand, her sister’s room needed a broom to clean out, especially under the bed! What a shock when the older one went off to college! I would get home from work and feel like I needed to sweep the kitchen table just to make supper. I always wondered how two kids raised together could be so different. Fast forward a lot of years, they are still the same. One is meticulous and the other is semi hoarder style!
Shop what you own. I love that you left that corner open. Later you can add a desk and a chair or just a comfy reading chair. They have a place to really play that isn't in the way of them going from the door to their beds or the closets.
You are awesome parents…. It shows when your children find joy and happiness not in new things but in what they already have. That’s a rare find these days. Good work guys!

I like the look of the single curtains on the windows. When they're open the room looks spacious, and they're wide enough to serve their purpose when they're closed. Double curtains may weigh the room down. The room turned out great. It was fun to see how excited the boys got when they saw it.

You can print them on your home printer with colored ink or take it to Staples for printing even larger sizes. You can spray paint your existing larger frames in the basement for cohesive look (especially in the larger sizes).

My son had a draw bag ,like that! So easy to clean they up! I believe the bag was sold by or maded for legos! But that has been forty years ago!!!
