13:35 ALL foreigners now can now apply for a 144-hr transit visa on arrival at airports of some of the major cities(Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen Guangzhou, Xian, Chongqing ,Harbin, etc., or entering Shenzhen at the land checkpoints from HK. Catch is you must produce a ticket for an onward flight to another destination outside of China that's dated no later than144-hr, to qualify for the visa.

if you came during peak season, the wall would be jammed packed so trade off for enduring freezing weather lol. you can actually see beijing's skyline from one of those top towers. for the toboggan, gotta wait so there's no girls or old people in front since they tend to go down very very slow :D
Yeah I think we were lucky to come in winter! Everywhere has been much less busy! It's worth being a little cold now and then lol. Woah didn't know you could see the skyline! Missed that one. Yeah they were a little slow 😅
Imagine being a bricky back when the walls was being built. You'd be like oh well im never going home again. Might as well find a wife here. At least my sons and grandsons will have a steady job

It would be so much better to travel to these cities in spring or fall when trees turn green and lush and flowers bloom. The Great Wall looks quite dull in the winter. It is better to travel to South of China such as Shenzhen Guangzhou in winter, too hot there in summer
I went to badaling part of the wall near beijing. Some part was so steep i was on all fours climbing on metal links. Then some lady in a dress and high heels just skips pass me. I was like wdf! Then some toddler over took me too. It was january and freezing but it was nothing to these northerners. I felt pathetic and went to kfc

What's the time period were you in China? The few times I went in autumn everywhere was crowded esp in the 5A tourist destinations! If you the chance to be in China again, I'd recommend landscapes and small towns of Yunnan, Xinjiang esp. I mention these 2 not because other provinces do not have spectacular places but these 2 have the most numbers of diverse landscapes and ethnic diversity to explore.
We're were in Mid Jan to Mid Feb. We had planned to go to some rural places but had to reduce the number of destinations once we arrived as we didn't have the money to get from place to place! Would of been over £700 just on internal travel! We hope to come back because it was amazing!
