Beautiful there this time of year, still green and lush compared to the dry and yellow it is here. I have to travel 3 to 4 hours to find a wild forest, but it's worth it when I get there. Nice Viking bowl carrier you made, handiest guy with leather I've seen. The fire bowl is working perfectly, can't wait to receive mine so I can try to make some Signature Cimbrer coffee😉myself. Not everyone has access to woodlands where they live. I'm fortunate enough to have woodlands nearby my home. For people who can't get out in the forest it is a service for you to give them outdoors experience. Thank you

Nice kit, nice outfit. Blends so nicely and reflects the environment. "Period" camping rocks! Whatever your preferred historical timeframe. We're pretty limited in the US in terms of what periods are popular. Groups that do (my favorite) Dark Age or Iron Age lifestyles are pretty rare. It's more Old West, American Civil War, or maybe 1940s. Even Colonial era reenactments get short shrift here, unless you're in New England, Virginia, or other areas that were colonized early.
Another great video Tom. We were wondering where your first Viking adventure would be this month. I'm surprised there is no snow yet there.... bloody global warming. We just found a history-buff butcher who is going to be supplying our meats for our historical impressions. BTW, one of the guys got the brilliant idea of "beeswaxing" his newly made leather container that he's planning on using for honey and similar needs. It seems to work great. FYI: when we do medieval impressions we use pottery to cook pottages. One of the things I was told at a museum in the UK was that when using pottery vessels, fat was always used to keep the fluids in the pot due to the porous nature of clay, which to keep the vessel from exploding in hot temperatures. Brilliant seeing Cornelius out in the forest... he has to remember that he prefers his bacon cooked! Be well and Go well my friend!!

Bloody shame about the pot. I am sure it gave you several years of use from the look of it. I remember seeing some examples of early pipkins from Birka, perhaps this would be better, and after firing will give you long service. Perhaps that would work?
Is the little cooking pot made of clay? Yes, the bacon first should work. That is the little firepit I asked about in another video. Oh I do love all your camp thingies...
Tom,I'm watching you cook your meal and it's making my mouth water. I love bacon..It's my breakfast meat I pick every morning. Don't care too much for sausage ,but I like polish sausage . Your pack that you made looks good . At least it wouldn't be as heavy on your back.. all the little viking things you have hanging on that limb ,you are lucky that it is holding up. Where do you buy your leather to make your things.? Do you ever make things for people to sell.? Cornelius is really growing. Will he get very big? I have followed you again on this trip. Nice kit, nice outfit. Blends so nicely and reflects the environment. "Period" camping rocks! Whatever your preferred historical timeframe.
We're pretty limited in the US in terms of what periods are popular. Groups that do (my favorite) Dark Age or Iron Age lifestyles are pretty rare. It's more Old West, American Civil War, or maybe 1940s. Even Colonial era reenactments get short shrift here, unless you're in New England, Virginia, or other areas that were colonized early.

Another great video Tom. We were wondering where your first Viking adventure would be this month. I'm surprised there is no snow yet there.... bloody global warming. We just found a history-buff butcher who is going to be supplying our meats for our historical impressions. BTW, one of the guys got the brilliant idea of "beeswaxing" his newly made leather container that he's planning on using for honey and similar needs. It seems to work great. FYI: when we do medieval impressions we use pottery to cook pottages. One of the things I was told at a museum in the UK was that when using pottery vessels, fat was always used to keep the fluids in the pot due to the porous nature of clay, which to keep the vessel from exploding in hot temperatures. Brilliant seeing Cornelius out in the forest... he has to remember that he prefers his bacon cooked! Be well and Go well my friend!!

Bloody shame about the pot. I am sure it gave you several years of use from the look of it. I remember seeing some examples of early pipkins from Birka, perhaps this would be better, and after firing will give you long service. Perhaps that would work?

Tom,I'm watching you cook your meal and it's making my mouth water. I love bacon..It's my breakfast meat I pick every morning. Don't care too much for sausage ,but I like polish sausage .
