instead of moving your pinky for the 8-10-12 thing, in the verse, you can set you ring finger on the 10. So... index finger on 8 (5th), ring finger on 10 (4th) and pinky on 12 (4th). Move accordingly. It makes it really easier. Great video btw, thanks for sharing!

There are a lot a different ways to play the same notes. If you take a music theory course, it'll help you understand guitar a lot better. I recommend "move forward guitar" he explains it excellently.

I do just want to say however, that you really should not post a tutorial video to the general public if your guitar is not in tune, and you're not fully capable of playing the song 100%. It's just a matter of preferance, they are probably playing the same notes, just using a different string
