I have a 55 rancher, there are a few differences, but almost the same. Mine sat for 11 years because I thought it was seized, took it apart things were a little worn, put some new gaskets in, she fired back up and runs great again. Swapping the piston and cylinder is pretty easy. Takes more time to clean all the parts off.
That’s exactly right. Cleaning takes the majority of the time, and you do want to make sure it is clean when it goes back together. Ask me how I know, we all started somewhere. I personally love these little saws.
Would you say that the Hyway piston and cylinder would make more, less, or about the same power as the stock setup without porting? A 51 is probably going to be my first project saw. I don't know that i'm confident enough to change port timing on my first saw, probably just some cleanup and polishing.

They make more power than the stock 55 cyl with a base gasket delete

On your first clip , Put your wrist pin in first and push the clip against it and the clip will seat easier.
