    This the best video I’ve ever watched. I’ll forever remember this.. all that time I was going through feelings and hurt was actually valid. I was allowed to feel that way and I feel happy and insha’Allah I’d be able to move on positively
    R= recognise
    U= understanding
    L= label
    E= express
    R= regulate
    Thank you for this beautiful content, may Allah (Swt) bless you all.

      we should say, "this might be the best..." just like any other things we compare as this could unintentionally, nevertheless be a lie because there could be another video that we don't remember and that could have been the best

    RULER:
    R = Recognition (recognize your and others' emotions)
    U = Understanding (understand your and others' emotional state)
    L = Label (if you can't name it, you can't tame it)
    E = Expression (emotions have to be articulated in the right way)
    R = Regulation (yes you express, but you regulate it as well - space out the stimulus and response so you can choose which response to make)

      I might've missed something, could you tell me why he chose the word ruler?

    • @Umbro015
      @Umbro015 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@abigase135 I'm not sure of his particular reason, but mnemonics are typically used as a learning/memory tool. So by simply remembering "RULER", you can recall the exact steps (Recognition, Understanding, Label, Expression, Regulate) we need to think of when we're interacting with people in the middle of an emotional exchange to make sure we communicate effectively and positively. Of course, I imagine this will require a lot of active practice to master, but it will be beneficial for all of our relationships, inshaAllah. Personally, I think RULER is a great mnemonic because we must "measure" our behavior in a "measured" way 😀

    • @lifeandzindagi
      @lifeandzindagi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@abigase135 may be to rule on our own emotions to guide it to response positively and not insanely. RULER of our own emotions.

      Ameen ya Raballalameen. Also, it's good to write "SWT" (and say the phrase this abbreviation stands for) after mention the name of God Almighty.
      Like this: Allah (SWT)
      Writing it like this is the appropriate way (its not exactly necessary but it's thikr that's beneficial to you and appropriate) talk about Allah (SWT).
      This phrase stands for "subhanahu wa ta'ala", which means "The Most Glorified, The Most High".
      Saying SWT after mentioning Allah (SWT) both gives the praise, respect, and glory which is due to Allah (SWT) and also gives you free hasanat (good deeds).
      By the way SWT is not usually said/written after saying things inshallah or bismillah and similar tathkir but if you want more hasanat then you can feel free to write it down / say it.
      JazakAllahukhairan for reading this.
      Also, read this for more info if you would like (its a very easy to read and short article that covers a lot): en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_honorifics

      Narrated Abu Raja Al-Utaridi:
      We used to worship stones, and when we found a better stone than the first one, we would throw the first one and take the latter, but if we could not get a stone then we would collect some earth (i.e. soil) and then bring a sheep and milk that sheep over it, and perform the Tawaf around it. When the month of Rajab came, we used (to stop the military actions), calling this month the iron remover, for we used to remove and throw away the iron parts of every spear and arrow in the month of Rajab.

    In my opinion it goes so, practice Ahlak....you don't have to be born as a person with characteristics of patience, easy forgiving one or anything. Even if you are not raised as such from your parents, you can raise yourself on your own. When hardship comes and you can't handle anymore, instead of complaining or cursing, sustain your tongue, practice gratitude for what you have, pray, you will avoid sinning and engage in ibadah...so you come automatically to God a bit closer. Practice it until your state of mind changes after that reality changes as well. When you want to fall in rage sustain, backup until you calm down and you know what to say calmly, it's never too late to speak....it is to late when wrong words come out. Train it the same way you go in gym, this is gym for soul

    the worst thing you can do is to take your kids to a teacher that gets emotional and yells and stikes the students. Subconciously they associate negativity with the Qur`an and wont even realise why they have something against the Qur`an when they are older. Please make sure your kids are with a teacher that teaches with rahmah. If the teacher puts their hands on the students, thats a clear sign of a bad teacher

    Jumping to halal-haram right away with converts is a biggest mistake. Let them love Islam and they will learn from you slowly the rest.

    No companion would say “yo, like, what are you doing?” to the prophet peace be upon him. To say that is disrespectful.

    "Oh People Lend Me An Attentive Ear?..., For I Know Not Whether After This Year!!...I Shall Ever Be Amongst You Again?...THEREFORE?, LISTEN? To What I Am Am Saying To You..
    "Very Carefully!!"....AND "TAKE" "THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO" "COULD NOT.. BE PRESENT HERE?" "TODAY!!!".......Just The Opening

    Dear bro
    السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
    Don't use the word God for Allah
    Its full of shirk, Gods, Godess
    This nick name doesn't qualify
    The only name HE has "ALLAH"
    or the 99 attributed names "Asmaul Husna"
    Sura Al-Isra Verse 110
    قُلِ ادۡعُوا اللّٰهَ اَوِ ادۡعُوا الرَّحۡمٰنَ‌ ؕ اَ يًّا مَّا تَدۡعُوۡا فَلَهُ الۡاَسۡمَآءُ الۡحُسۡنٰى ‌ۚ وَلَا تَجۡهَرۡ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتۡ بِهَا وَابۡتَغِ بَيۡنَ ذٰ لِكَ سَبِيۡلً
    Say thou: call upon Allah or call upon Rahman,
    by whichsoever ye call, His are the excellent names.
    And shout not thy prayer, nor speak it low, but Seek between these a way.
    Almost, no human exist, who don't understand "Allah"
    or the worst senario use a "Creator"
    no "GOD", please
    My english is not that good,
    Don't ignore this message, please ponder upon
    Its just out my sincere study
    اَنَا اُحِبُّكُم فِى سَبِيلِ الله-unconditional
    جَزَاك اللهُ خَيرًا

    IMAMS AND SCHOLARS WILL UNDERSTAND THIS SAYING. IF YOUR NOT A HAFIZ OR ONE WHO IS KNOWLEDGABLE ON SAYINGS THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE SAYING BELOW (1600YEAR OLD SAYING?)
    A saying goes:
    Beware of the ones who claim to know HE who created the Heavens and the Earth, they will have a godly appearance and talk eloquent with there words however when they call upon the Lord they sound like Mosquitos. They know not the Lord of Lords. Verily they have been misguided by a Praised Man who has descended from a respected lineage from the Desert
