In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Great info. My Nitro had this model on the bow but it isn't compatible with The Minn Kota i-Pilot, and a smaller Lowrance Elite towards the stern. Replacing the smaller stern Elite with the Elite7 CHIRP, and installing a new Hummingbird to the i-Pilot at the bow. All in all, I've been very happy with the Elite7.
The stop sonar option is useful if you are running two units. Say you are getting to your fishing spot using your console unit and decide to fish from the front deck and use your front unit. Sometimes the console unit would cause interference with the front unit, so hit stop sonar on your console. That saves time so the unit doesn't have to reboot on start up.

You can actually set a waypoint faster...just hit enter-enter (enter button twice) and that will set a waypoint without going into the menu

how come your running the 50 transducer isnt that for off shore for deeper water?
Ok, at 2:12 he said say no to the fishing less than sixty feet question. His reason was nobody fishes for bass that deep. Shouldn't we say yes to the question. Yes I fish in less than 60 feet of water. I agree with his reasoning, at least for my area, but his answer confused me. Just got a 5Chirp and this was very helpful. Thanks,
Nope, I went with my original assessment with the setup. Still learning this new Elite 5, lots of options
CZRider hi I got a Lowrance elite 4 to turn it on. but won't switch off on the set can someone tell me is it to do with the wirering.
Dennis, On my 5 I have to hold the power button down for 3-5 seconds, then release and the unit will power down.

Got one of these last year and while using it the screen just froze as if the stop sonar button was pressed.Would eventually start moving after about 30 seconds.Had to pay and ship it back and they did replace the unit.Only used it once after that, but it seemed to do it again.They sent me a new transducer, but have not had a chance to try it.
Any help or insight on the maps portion, My question is how come the map does not move with my boat cursor on the map screen. Is my settings off somehow? It would be nice if the lake map moved along with the boat so my cursor does not drive off the screen. Any insight would be helpful. Thank you.

+D Kat Elites are great same transducers and pwr cords. Smaller screen is about only difference. Just be sure your getting right model transducer!
how do I go back to were it ask, 2:05" am primarily use this unit on lakes?" I picked no because I fish rivers most of the time and I didn't realize it mint saltwater or lakes?

I bought a boat with this unit on it. And I think mine has the 83/200 transducer. Does that mean it has sonar with down imaging?
No. It needs to be an HDI transducer

Hey man i just got one of these and it came with the maps on an sd card but the card is to big do i need to buy a micro card for it and then transfer it onto it or what if you know please let me know thanks and great vids

Yea they are but it came with a sd card and not the micro one and the regular sd card is to big to fit in the slot
+Paul Hickman I'm looking at getting the Elite 5 Chirp for hard and soft water fishing. On Cabela's, it says that it comes with built in GPS with maps. So what you say is good to know and that it does come with the map card.
It does you just have to slide the micro sd out of the sd. you also have to download it onto the card from a computer if you buy the gold it comes with free maps,
