For a fairly popular style (be-bop), the guitar has had very few master exponents, unlike say, the sax, trumpet and piano. For me, it’s the hardest guitar style to make sound authentic and achieve a consistent flow. I suppose from the early sixties onwards, most young players were distracted by the wilder techniques, sounds and effects then coming in.
