  • I build the old 1:76 scale Matchbox M16 Half Track, reissued by Revell. An awesome kit to build!

      Thanks Chris. I really enjoyed building this one and have a couple more from the old Matchbox range in my stash for when I want a change of pace. You should build yours when you get a chance. Its a lot of fun to go back to something so simple, but still really well engineered.

    The track was a one peice rubber moulding on the original. No metal on the track

      G'day Chris. Good to know. I've got a 1:35 half track in the stash, so knowing that will come in handy.

      @@DansModelBench g'day mate. 'the 12 inch tracks were heavy cleated continuous rubber bands, not steel links like those of tanks' Gordon L Rottman Osprey's 'world war two us armoured infantry tactics' p 27 which has some interesting material and photos on the M2 and M3 halftrack cars, though not much on the many gun armed variants of these, apart from the infantry mortar carrier version

    I like 1/35 Models better. This 1/70's are too small for me. Good work tho.

      Thanks Refeal. They can be a bit fiddly, but I really enjoy the old Matchbox kits. That said I’ve got a 1/35 half track in the stash waiting to be built too. :)

    What camera are you using i see you can zoom a lot, and still clean picture,(when you show decal).

    • @DansModelBench
      @DansModelBench  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Kim for the kind words. The main camera I use is nothing really fancy. It is a Sony HD spec video camera HDR-XR260VE.
      www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843659-REG/Sony_HDR_XR260VE_HDR_XR260VE_PAL_HD_Flash.html
      It was designed for videoing the kids birthday parties, that kind of thing. I picked it up for around $400 Australian when it was new, but they are cheap as chips now second hand. I know they made a similar model for other markets, so there is bound to be a similar model where you live.
      The one thing I think really helps the camera though is the lighting. I have the room lighting in my workshop, but I also used LED lights directly over my spray booth and workbench. If you watch the spray booth upgrade video I did, you will see the light I used. It looks like a fluro but is LED. I think they really help the camera sensor to work at its best.

    Where did you get that catalogue? Can it be ordered via internet.

    • @DansModelBench
      @DansModelBench  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day Ivan, Yes you can get it on the internet. Its a book on the history of the Matchbox plastic kits, called "1973-2010 The Story of Matchbox Kits" by Jean-Christophe Carbonel. I purchased mine online from the book repository, but unfortunately they no longer have it in stock. Still you can get all the details of the book from the link below and maybe source it from somewhere else. Be warned it is quite expensive, but is an enjoyable read if you liked those kits and the artwork used back in the day, which is very nicely reproduced in the book:
