I couldn't agree more that the first side of the album is one of prog rock's perfect sides, and for me, one of the greatest sides I've heard on a rock music album, period. As you mentioned, it would be nearly impossible to find a band with the musical chops to match what Alex, Geddy, and especially, Neil brought to the table. I thorougly enjoy your Guilty Treasures episodes....keep them coming! :)

Last night, a good friend of mine (the same cat who bought my 1999 Simply Vinyl 180g Reissue - SVLP 076 - mentioned in that SoundStage! article) and I were comparing the best-sounding copies of “I Robot” remaining in my collection, as all of those remaining copies are sonically superior to the 1977 US first pressing (Arista - AL 7002). Those copies include my Promo copy of the 1982 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Original Master Recording Series (MFSL 1-084), my 1983 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab UHQR Vinyl Series (MFQR 1-084), my 2016 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab 2 X 45RPM 180g Gain 2™ Ultra Analog Original Master Recording Series (MFSL 2-455), and the most recent 2022 Original Master Recording, UltraDisc One-Step 180g SuperVinyl (UD1S 1-041). We even threw in my 2000 Classic Records DAD 24/96 DVD Series - DAD 1035. You may see my original comparison of the four copies I had in the fall of 1999 in my SoundStage! For discs, check out the Japan SHM-CD release (2009 or 2022). I have the MoFi and others, the SHM are even better!
