It's been so long since I've driven a "real sports car". Your project car is really quite nice, I don't do big projects any more, never did really like them. You have a lot of talent and skills. As far as the crankcase pressure goes, you can use the exhaust to pull it into a "vacuum", there's power in a low pressure sump. Super late models use the dry sump pump to do it, or some use a belt driven vacuum pump to pull the pressure down. Smokey said the rings seal better, and there's less windage, oil can't stay suspended as much. The power trick was discovered by accident by the fellow who was taking care of the Buick V6 Indy engines. An engine showed up for refreshment with the breather system sealed and they dyno tested it not knowing it was sealed prior to building, and it made too much hp. They moved it to another dyno and it still made too much power. Anyway have fun and stay safe.

The entry level formula classes are like this, but with a carbon monocoque! I had the privilege to get a race track training (on the Oschersleben DTM track in Germany) with Formula BMW cars and they where somewhat similar to this, but with a motorcycle race engine that revs to 12.000 or so. It felt so amazing and the power/weight ratio was enough to propel it in under 3 seconds to 100kmh but the top speed isn’t too dangerously fast. It was amazing for me as a mediocre track day driver and not too much to handle. The sequential transmission with a clutch was a bit new at the beginning, even if I’m used to manual gearboxes, but once you learned to shift it above 8k without the need for clutching it became second nature. Everybody who has the chance to get into a open wheel single seater should definitely use it, it’s like no car you’ve ever driven before. All the high power BMW M4 and M5s I’ve driven felt boring and cumbersome compared to this, even if they had 600+ hp compared to the 190 or so hp of the formula car. And once you get above a certain corner speed and feel the wings do their work, it’s insane! It feels like you’re driving on train tracks! I’ve never experienced so much grip in my entire life!
Much of the safety improvements in F1 have to do with improved track and runoff areas. Also better corner workers. Some of the safety features could be easily integrated into a throwback F1 car. @@bradsailer7739 You can build it but you can't take it out on public roads. We have safety regulations for a reason and it's pretty crazy to ignore them to such an extent. I don't want to drive around shit that people cobbled together in their sheds. If your build is that good you can study the laws and make the car road worthy by checking every box. It's possible and some have done it. But good luck getting it right on your own, often multi billion dollar manufacturers with decades of experience and huge RnD budgets have a hard time with these regulations.
Even in germany there are ways around it. To make it street legal could be a pain in the butt, but there are some ways to get that thing moving at least now and then. Those ways are originally meant for dealers to move a car no matter what and are often used by car afficinados to move a car on it's own axle. Furthermore: Germany is part of the EU. So you 'only' need to register in another country. Yes, that is not cheap and it's complicated but can be done. I knew a guy who made his 'Harley' driveable on the street, that way. He ran a british licence plate... but I bet there are options even after the brexit.
For me the mid 70's F1 cars are the golden era, nice that you managed to create this beast, now it will be possible just to build chassis and just slam whatever engine you have available and race like the old days Ps: cannot wait for the external body kit 🙌🏽

8 months! 8 months! Thats unelievably quick. Well done.
So this is what happened to the one kid in class that made the slingshot that could shoot over the oval! That things awsome as frick my guy 👍🤙
Wesley - I discovered this channel last night. Been binge watching!!! I don't understand why your channel hasn't exploded yet. You deserve way more subscribers and views.
If I did something like that in Germany I would be in jail for the rest of my life now
Why? No freedom to build?
@@bradsailer7739 You can build it but you can't take it out on public roads. We have safety regulations for a reason and it's pretty crazy to ignore them to such an extent. I don't want to drive around shit that people cobbled together in their sheds. If your build is that good you can study the laws and make the car road worthy by checking every box. It's possible and some have done it. But good luck getting it right on your own, often multi billion dollar manufacturers with decades of experience and huge RnD budgets have a hard time with these regulations.
@@frankthetankricard thank you for the insight!
What could be worse than life in prison?
Even in germany there are ways around it. To make it street legal could be a pain in the butt, but there are some ways to get that thing moving at least now and then. Those ways are originally meant for dealers to move a car no matter what and are often used by car afficinados to move a car on it's own axle. Furthermore: Germany is part of the EU. So you 'only' need to register in another country. Yes, that is not cheap and it's complicated but can be done. I knew a guy who made his 'Harley' driveable on the street, that way. He ran a british licence plate... but I bet there are options even after the brexit.
For me the mid 70's F1 cars are the golden era, nice that you managed to create this beast, now it will be possible just to build chassis and just slam whatever engine you have available and race like the old days
Ps: cannot wait for the external body kit 🙌🏽
When you know function is more important then how you look to others. Good to see others like this.
You are a very smart young man. I'm always amazed by people who have the mechanical mind.
My brother i subbed straight away.
A tip though, don't sound like your reading of a script. Thats the only thing I could find. Keep it up! I'm looking forward to whT elE happens with the car
These are the type of people that bring us the mind blowing trend setting amazing inventions/improvements we thrive for!!!
Somewhat modified.............front and rear suspensions from the MacPherson layout of a Boxster
I knew right away it had to be Phoenix. Only place on Earth you will see Saguaros and that much grass. Fantastic build. I hope to see it at Inde someday.
2:05 Holy shit that's the extreme bean right by my house, I live just west on College! Amazing car man cant wait to see more!
Wow man ! Amazing project I love the late 60’s f1 cars, I’m a fabricator/welder, in Niagara Canada, love the channel and your ideas I’ll be staying around for sure
You could probably start a company for those super rich dudes who really want an F1 car and just have a random Boxster sitting around
Just understanding an F1 motor is an accomplishment! Good job.
1:10 [laughter] lmao
Good job man. I look forward to learning more about this build and seeing your progress.
“I build a Porsche boxter into a f1 car” my boi. There is noooo boxter left in that thing that’s just it’s own 🤣
I am 5 seconds into the video and just want to say props for attempting this. Very cool.
Driving this in my country is as illegal as selling drugs to kids
So California then?
@@BenDunlop hahahahah nope, not in the us
Love it! Super cool and great use of a Boxster, lol.. I'm with you 101% on how great the 50s-60s cars were. Yours even sounds old schooll IMHO. Keep it up..
It just pop up in my wall , and I just want to say " Dude....!!! This is art..." well done.
This is by far one of my favorite cars on all of TH-cam. Seriously, I tip my cap to you good sir.
small car channels always have the sickest car builds
Gotta respect the Harvey tune hahaha! Thats awesome to see this getting tuned at my neighborhood shop
We love our Cayman S 987.1, but suddenly looking at all those old ratted out 3.4l Boxters in a new way. Well done!
Im so excited for your project because i was laying in bed dreaming up the idea then i googled old 60s f1 cars and began wondering how i could make one...i thought hmm boxster? Then looked some more and you did it!!!!
Just stumbled on your channel... I love your content and now I'm binge watching EVERY video
Another great video Wesley, I am looking forward to watching some more of your stuff.
Bro, I'm really impresed. I love monoposts, old formulas, and many cars looking like them. I'm building one-seater "replica" of Morgan Three-Wheeler. Your idea use an old Boxster is amazing, and i wish, one day it could be street-legal.
I'm suitably excited for the fiberglass shell crafting series, since making a shell for that thing is going to be a nightmare.
The article and video were posted on The Drive and shared on one of my car enthusiast groups. I'm looking forward to seeing this project continue.
Personally I'm very pissed off and I'm very discouraged but watching this channel inspires me thank you
