The 917 did not have a "V" motor. It had a horizontally opposed 12, or "flat 12". And for power for a 917 kit, I would go with an air cooled 6 with a turbo.

actually it did its a 180 V12 engine the difference between a boxer 12 and a 180 degree v12 is the configuration on the crankshaft so TECHNICALLY its a V12 even though its well V shaped

A modern porsche twin turbo engine will be lighter and produce similar power while still being a Porsche engine
Wrong. "Flat" and "180° V" are interchangeable... meaning, either is correct. "Flat" can be used to describe any engine with horizontal cylinders, including those with just a single bank of cylinders. Any "flat" engine with two cylinders banks in same crankcase is also a "180° V", provided they share the same central crankshaft.

There is no better engine for an R34 than RB26/RB30.

Starting with the K1 Attack was an epic choice. I'm glad it's finally seeing some success in its 4th attempt... but the debut concept looked a bit better.

I once saw a Super Seven type kit car in Pennsylvania that was setup with a RX7 13b, road racing tires in a Corvette Yellow... Very Nice.
If you're going to buy something from RCR, they were producing a Lola T70 MkIIIb for a while, at a relatively affordable price. And it had options to buy everything necessary to assemble the car, except for an engine. The great thing is that the real Lola T70 was most commonly powered by a Chevrolet small block V8, although there were a few built with a big block, and even fewer built with other engines, even the Aston Martin V8. The RCR Lola T70 was built to original blueprints. You could technically build a heritage racing legal car from the RCR kit.
In the late 80's I foolishly bought a used Fiberfab Avenger. It was a horrible build to start and truly "only just average" build after I took it apart and rebuilt it. It was an excellent learning experience for me, but it does show that you only get what you put in. Cheap parts and beginner fabricating begat a cheap car that I sold for a 50% loss. However, I will soon approach my next component car with excellent fabricating skill and much deeper pockets. Great video Brad!

The 917 is definitely neat. As I am watching this, wonder if you will include the Corvette GS.
Really like the Race Car Replica GT40 and GT-R. A bit on the pricey side at around 50k to 60k less transaxle and engine. Would love to build it with a 351 windsor punched out and stroked to 400ci or better. Then do coil near plug and EFI with individual throttle bodies. I won't see this build done for a good long while. A man can always dream of hanging with Ferraris and Lamborghinis in a cobbled together monstrosity based off a 60s design known for being less than stable at high speed.
Does anyone know if the k1 kit would work on a corvette? 🤔 I did my research and I’m getting no progress on if it fits it or if it’s even worth it.

I own a westfield super7. I build in a ford zetec black top (standard 134hp) I put on a set of throttlebodies from a Honda fireblade and now it delivers 186 hp on the dyno. Car weights 600 kilograms. 😋👍

I 'carted' a 79 Fiat X-19. I stripped all the metal off of it, the bumpers, the top, the pop up head lights - primed all the take offs, sold them.... mounted a Sawz-all Manx fiberglass dune buggy on it.
I fitted Bigs & Littles and terrorized the dunes with it. so much damn fun. Sold it for 10K .... I regret doing that.
In Calif. Its the smog laws which makes building your own.

I would buy and builds a kit Maxx Budget $30K to build myself. Though have the room, I do have the tool just need the engine lift and car hoist. work too many hours, and would prefer a Brand new Mach 1 with a Warranty and option for extended warranty.
Requirements on Purchase are as follows:
1. 6 speed manual transmission
2. naturally aspirated, or super charged.... Manufacture's mount Turbos too close to the engine without a heat shield between them., causing each other to fail
3. Next purchase will be all white car with Performance Pack or the next Mustang Gen 2023 if Performance Pack 2 is not available the
BOSS 302 will be my next purchase.... with 6 speed manual transmission.

I owned an Ultima EVO with a 1200 HP engine. I only saw the Ferrari F12 that tried to race me in my rear view mirror.

None of these are inexpensive when finished, just buy a c8 with warrantee.

I would love to make my own supercar, especially that Porsche but I would use an ELECTRIC MOTOR, I love the silence and power that an electric motor has, and knowing that the price of the motor IS HALF THE PRICE OF THE CAR I could save a lot more if buy an electric motor, for 500 dollars you have hundreds of horsepower in an electric motor which an internal combustion engine would cost thousands of dollars
Anyway, when I can, I'll make that Porsche with an electric motor, and yes, I'll fuck lottt of girls with that car hahaha
