i love the way the national anthem is sung. national anthem and fireworks maybe just a common thing in singapore, but it touched me deeply. i wish someday indonesian could sing the national anthem that way, which will make us proud..
Go singaporeans, this is the day the world will shine on for everyone

Olympics Prez J Rogge described the village as "first class. This is the 22nd village I visited, since my first Olympic Games in 1968 so I can compare, and this is in the top league of the Olympic villages".4-time Olympic medallist sprinter Frank Frederick said that all the best youth athletes in the world want to represent their country at the YOG so "it's no wonder they're setting new records." Internationale de Gymanastique Prez Bruno Grandi said "the YOG level is extremely high."

@sonofthehill The entire ceremony was two and half hours long. They just chose some scenes and edited it into a 2 part video. Please don't judge until you've seen the whole ceremony yourself.

Truly Truly an achievement , Constrained my the short time notice of two and a half year as compared to the seven years which all hosting nations would usually receive.A visual spectacle as the flame was lit up .I'm pretty sure would agree that it was a BRILLIANT show if you've watched the entire ceremony .A testimonial of the success of the show , was to lead the crowd of a age groups to the youthful performance , to sing along and all .

As a former resident of Singapura, I am so proud of this nation. Without racism, our nation has gone so far- everyone brings ideas from their home countries, even cuisine. It is truly the best nation, since you have the best of everything. They put on such a show to how few people, but those that see it will remember it forever.

Great job Singapore! It looks like a great time for athletes, performers and audience. I think it would have been very cool to have been a young person performing.

hey guys give credit to the country. They had only 2.5 yrs in advance to prepare for this, instead of 7 yrs like the other host countries. It's commendable that they managed to even put up a show of this scale.

"The Youth Olympics Games Int Olympics Comm president Jacques Rogge , was very happy with the tv coverage and TH-cam hits in so many countries with 166 broadcasters, exclaiming,"It was the? 3rd most-watched item on TH-cam in the world..that's something!" . 205 Countries participated, and newspapers and TV channels in Asia , Europe and the West caught the resounding success of the Opening Ceremony in Singapore held @ the Marina Barrage. One Australian tabloid posed," Could we do this?"

I can't say this opening ceremony was perfect, but it exceeded my expectations.
I was shouting at the screen telling the flag bearers to go "LEFT" or "RIGHT" considering the number that went the wrong way!
I was really disapointed Sean Kingston didn't turn up.

Thumbs up to Singapore good job! For a small country and just about 2 years plus to prepare you have done very well.To all the haters , you don't know how tough this is to prepare.this is the first ever Youth Olympics you should expect a lesser crowd watching, as for the first ever Olympics I don't think there are a lot of spectators also.

@alyuful The free tickets were only for volunteers, not for performers...I read about the incident on newspaper...I think that people cannot use this incident to criticise the yog or regret volunteering...MCYS said the tickets were posted in batches from Tuesday,Sept 21.The last batch was sent to the post office on Wednesday evening...MCYS has apologised and said that their staff made a mistake in not making sure that there will be sufficient time for the tickets to be sent out...

    ANY SUPPORTERS?
DON'T FORGET, THERE IS HONGKONG TO SHOP AND PARTY IN ,
the great wall of china to climb,
the diving to do off the coasts of hainan,
and off course the fabulous LAS VEGAS CASINOES AND SHOWS AND PARADES OF
THE STARS to look forward to in miraculous macau.
    any tips from singaporeans?

The game is currently being held in Singapore till 26 Aug 10. Singapore took 2 years to prepare for the game. Main aim is to have fun with sport for the youth
age from 14 to 18 all over the world. But with one set back since the openning as the American youth are hardly seen in the game. Do not know why ?
I only saw an America female youth weeping after failing to win the 100m run.............She was 2nd. Sorry.........................

this performance reminds me of how little my country have for me to identify myself with. nothing in this display reminds me of Singapore. The traditional artifacts displayed are long eroded and almost non-existent. The contemporary pop only remind me of how cultureless my people are. However, really great attempt to put up a show to represent Singapore a country who is almost just a pure economomic machine.Hopefully more progress to come for my young nation, Majulah Singapura!

@dlhc30 This opening ceremony is indeed very well done. The stage is spectacular, but mostly it's because of the overall development of Marina Bay which is indeed one of the best bay in the world. However, to say that it is the best ceremony might be pushing it a little. It is very, very difficult to upstage e.g. Beijing in 2008. This is mostly because of the difference in budget. So I'm not sure who are the "some" people who said that this is one of the best olympic opening ceremony in history.

beijing was a summer games thats mean the biggest event in the whole world

but singapore organized a very first time event with a lot of expectations and small budjet from IOC
so compare it with the next youth games not with a summer games its unfair
    its kinda silly comparison

Not all countries that participate in the Singapore YOG is going there, as some nations does not have snow to train their athletes.
Some countries are skeptical over the competition level that is going to take place in Singapore. Some even thought that its just a summer camp! So they rather keep their athletes away.. But after the Singapore 2010 YOG, Im sure many countries have regretted their actions.
