All's I will say, if you get your class 1 prepare to struggle for find a haulage company that will take a new pass class 1 driver, I passed my class 1 four weeks ago (Car to class 1) and it's a struggle finding anywhere to take a new driver, To be fair even a fair few class 2 jobs want experience
@@xzRJS This is true mate, most places want experience. But there are quite a few companies that take on new passes. Stobarts, Evri, maritime, and most agencies take on a lot of new passes. Suppose it depends on your location. Just keep looking mate, you’ll find one eventually. Good luck.🤞

Holy crap mate! You work for Zenith near MAN8! Recognised the yard the first 3 secs XD. You filmed on a good day though, on a normal day that hole in the middle of the yard is a pond and the yard is a mud pit.
I did 5 days on Amazon , I’ve them 5 days I had a trailer on for 1, rest of them just kept getting sent to different depots to be told no nothing here for you 🤷🏻♂️
@@AndrewMcNamara-q5t I used to enjoy it mate, easy work for class 1, but being honest, it’s not worth the pay they offer. I stuck it out for as long as I could, they promised bonuses and pay rises that never came to fruition. It was all night shift and weekends. Contracted for 60 hours but doing way more and getting no overtime paid. Trucks are often left disgusting by other drivers. I felt disappointed and let down by the owner so decided to move on. But that was just my experience mate, don’t let me put you off. The job is easy, but the pay is low for the amount of hours expected. Make your own mind up on the management. Just don’t let them take the piss 👍

I'm back! Forgot I'd watched this one 😂 Came back on a recon mission after passing my HGV! I'm thinking of giving Amazon a go. Would you recommend it as a first job? I know it can be long hours, but also heard drivers being sent home after four hours but still getting twelve hours pay. I've heard it can be dead easy, just picking up and dropping off trailers all day. Sounds a bit too good to be true! If you don't mind me asking, are/were you working for them through agency? I’m sorry I’ve only just seen this message mate, please forgive my tardiness. I would honestly say it’s a great place to start your HGV driving career. As you say, the work is relatively easy because it’s only driving, picking and dropping off trailers, so no loading or unloading. The use the Relay app rather than paperwork which is really easy also. The hours can be long. Sometimes a load is cancelled so as long as there is no other job planned to your route, your work is done. I was employed via an AFP (Amazon freight partner). So not really an agency, but I’m sure you can get better rates if working for an agency. Best of luck anyways! 👍🚛💨🫡

I'm trying to milk it for experience, but the agency have been cancelling me all week now so that money is starting to even out. Still thinking of giving Amazon a go as with this one there's no where near as much driving as I thought there would be, more pushing around cages and dollies. It's not bad work at all, but it's not full-on driving work either. Was it self-employed? Cheers mate.

Is that an Amazon thing as there is no "legal requirement" as to how long you have to show. Some companies have their own policies but no legal requirement.
If you show at least 10 mins , my company now is 15 pre and 15 mins post checks to ensure no defects and downtime, also if vosa stop you if its part of your daily check process you can get fined

Hiya mate, thanks for your question. I would say search for an Amazon Freight Partner (AFP) in your local area. AFP’s are used by Amazon to provide drivers. So we don’t theoretically work directly for Amazon, but are instead employed by a company who have agreed with Amazon to supply drivers. Hope this helps. Good luck 👍

It happens all the time mate, trailers get cancelled so they bobtail us to the next job. How’s driving life in New Zealand?? I’ve always wanted to go. Good question mate and thank you for asking. Id say the pay is average for the UK. Not the best. But the job is good, easy , safe driving. Salary wise it varies. The company that employ the drivers, the AFP (Amazon freight partner), decide how much they’re willing to pay their drivers. Amazon pay a certain amount to AFPs for every load that’s completed. Then the AFP decides what they’re willing to pay their drivers. But as I mentioned each company offer different rates/salaries etc.

Hardly a proper walk around check. How about lifting up the suspension on the back wheels and giving the tyres a good thump on their faces with the fist to check for under inflation.

Amazon get drivers by using AFP’s (Amazon Freight Partners) which is basically a 3rd party company that employs drivers full time for the purpose of supplying amazon with drivers. So the trucks belong to amazon, but the drivers are outsourced. Similar to agency work only it’s full time guaranteed work for drivers who are employed by the AFP. Agencies have no commitment to providing consistent work for drivers. I suppose it depends where you’re based mate. I’m in the north west and there’s always loads of agency work. I don’t get paid per hour. Im on a fixed annual salary so it makes no difference how many hours I work, I still get paid the same.

It’s just a TH-cam video mate. I do the proper checks off camera where I can focus on the job and not the filming
