I was employed by an Amazon freight partner, which is basically a middle man who provides drivers solely for Amazon. There are loads of AFPs around the UK so just search in your area and I’m sure you’ll find something driving Amazon which is a great place to start, it’s easy driving work. Best of luck mate! 👍🚛💨

@@AndrewMcNamara-q5t I used to enjoy it mate, easy work for class 1, but being honest, it’s not worth the pay they offer. I stuck it out for as long as I could, they promised bonuses and pay rises that never came to fruition. It was all night shift and weekends. Contracted for 60 hours but doing way more and getting no overtime paid. Trucks are often left disgusting by other drivers. I felt disappointed and let down by the owner so decided to move on. But that was just my experience mate, don’t let me put you off. The job is easy, but the pay is low for the amount of hours expected. Make your own mind up on the management. Just don’t let them take the piss 👍

I’m sorry I’ve only just seen this message mate, please forgive my tardiness. I would honestly say it’s a great place to start your HGV driving career. As you say, the work is relatively easy because it’s only driving, picking and dropping off trailers, so no loading or unloading. The use the Relay app rather than paperwork which is really easy also. The hours can be long. Sometimes a load is cancelled so as long as there is no other job planned to your route, your work is done. I was employed via an AFP (Amazon freight partner). So not really an agency, but I’m sure you can get better rates if working for an agency. Best of luck anyways! 👍🚛💨🫡

@@BrotherTruckerUK Sounds good mate. I've been doing chilled supermarket work and though the money is mind-blowing, it's not really to my liking. I'm trying to milk it for experience, but the agency have been cancelling me all week now so that money is starting to even out. Still thinking of giving Amazon a go as with this one there's no where near as much driving as I thought there would be, more pushing around cages and dollies. It's not bad work at all, but it's not full-on driving work either. Was it self-employed? Cheers mate.

@@spike4790 Hiya mate, congratulations on getting your HGV licence! It depends on the company you work for, but usually, a driver will still get paid regardless if the job is cancelled. But always double check with your employer first. Some companies pay a fixed salary, and others pay per hour. I've always been on PAYE so once you clock off, that's it, pay stops. We get a lot coming in on UC refusing to work over 16 hours because they're better off NOT working. Absolutely bonkers!

Hiya mate, sorry for the delayed response. I’m not sure to be honest, your best bet would be to google Amazon freight partners near you. Amazon use “freight partners” which is basically a 3rd party company that supply drivers to Amazon on a permanent basis. Hope that makes sense. Good luck mate! 👍

Thanks for your comment mate! Same thing has happened with us up north. Changed their contracts and now we’re all stuck on late shifts, too many hours, nowhere near enough pay. Glad to hear your son found a better job. I’ve heard BOOKERS is a great company to work for too 👍 I’ve handed my notice in with Amazon so will be moving on to something better in the next 2 weeks. 🤣 I’m glad you’re enjoying it mate! Thanks for the positive comments. I do at least 60hrs mate and being honest, the pay is not worth it. Don’t get paid for overtime, it’s all evening/night shift, and at least 1 day every weekend, for no extra pay. There are better paying Hgv jobs out there, but this is the easiest job I’ve had. Great for experience but long term it’s not worth the time. I handed my notice in 2 days ago so in 2 weeks I’ll be starting a new chapter in the series 👍 Best of luck tho mate, if you’ve any questions about lorry driving just ask 😎👍🚛💨

Yes pink mist I can imagine 🚆 I’ve took out a few pigeons and a fox or two during my time. The guilt runs strong when winding down the trailer legs, only to find the remains of a wild hound splayed underneath the trailer. Fox legs and intestines make for a gruesome scene. Haunting indeed 💀

Hiya mate, I explain how to drive class 1 for Amazon in one of my recent videos. Check it out. It’s basically a third party supplier to Amazon. Amazon don’t employ drivers , they use AFP’s. @@BrotherTruckerUK Had a few runs up to your way, Redditch (nice yard, and a friendly chap at the gate) Coventry, Northampton etc. It seems Amazon depots are springing up everywhere. Ive been offered a tramping position within the company, id like to if i had no commitments, but like yourself, my kids are my world and been away all week is just not for me at the mo, plus i get homesick. 🤣 i struggle to stay away for a night. I was a mechanic for years before this, covid put a stop to that, garage closed and id had enough of it anyway, so career change it was and started doing car collection and delivery, found myself going all over the country driving all sorts of motors and found i liked been on the roads and found it more pleasant up north. Its dire been on the outskirts of London and dealing with the M25 on a daily basis, but i suck it up. So Ive honestly been thinking about moving further up, or even to another country. As a newish pass 6 odd months ago, just putting in them hours and gaining that experience which would allow me to go onto other things if i wish. Good thing about HGV i suppose, there are jobs all around the country.

I’m on a salary mate. So it doesn’t make a difference how many hours I work, I still get paid the same. Which is rubbish for the amount of hours I work. Every weekend, all night shifts, and don’t get anything extra for it. 🤷‍♂️

It’s funny you should say that mate, because I’ve been thinking the exact same thing recently. It just gets worse every week. Considering jibbing Amazon and getting on the taxis. Can earn more with more flexibility. Amazon have you maxing hours moving fresh air around or waiting for hours in drivers room. No overtime, no weekend pay, no life.
