    fun fact: you know removing the morality core in portal 1 causes glados to not be moral anymore, but each personality sphere actually removes personality traits from glados. which you can see in the lines
    after curiosity core is incinerated, glados has no interest in talking or testing and just wants to kill you.
    once you destroy the intelligence core, the only one left is anger. so all glados does is insult you and say things like "this is how stupid you sound"
    it's pretty interesting to say the least.

      Theory: the anger core got corrupted by glados and was originaly an emotion core
      But in portal 2 it turns out glados was human aaaaand didn't want this
      So her anger proved too much for the emotion core

    Honestly, I think the Combine did try to get into Aperture, but GLaDOS was able to hold them off, but not before they got some technology from Aperture such as the energy pellets and turrets, however GLaDOS was able to prevent them from getting hold of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, and other more secret technology.

    I think that the story Wheatley gives is meant to foreshadow GLaDOS and her history as Caroline. Cave and his staff forced Caroline into GLaDOS and she eventually remembers it. The "screams" could have been the hostility that GLaDOS had initially when she was turned on due to her being confused and scared as to what she made.
    It's possible that GLaDOS did initially have memory of her time as Caroline when she was first turned on. Her fear and rage at being forced to become GLaDOS is what caused her to become hostile as the staff is who hurt her. This could have been done with other staff, too.
    It's possible that some of the staff caught on that she was attacking people due to her past memories and attempted to delete or bury her memories of Caroline to curb her desire to kill people. They succeeded and GLaDOS forgot Caroline, but her hatred of humans and need to kill lingered, thus causing her to continue murdering people but no longer really knowing why.

    I consider the Companion Cube dead bodies theory to be bs, as MatPat says the bodies would not be emancipated by a fizzler, as they are organic, this being the reason you have to burn the cube. The thing is, in Portal 2, you meet 3 more companion cubes in Chapter 2 Chamber 7, and GLaDOS fizzles 2 or 3 depending on if you do the achievement or not. No bodies!

    Here's one thing that would've never caused both games to happen: Not having a neurotoxin generator. Genuinely if that had never existed then when the scientists opened GLaDOS up for the first time they would've just shut her down, put on the cores, woke her up, and now there's literally nothing she can do.

  • @DukeDukeGo
    @DukeDukeGo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    If Chell is one of the scientists' kids who was presenting a potato battery on bring-your-daughter-to-work-day, how did she get into the relaxation vault?
    I thought Portal 1 took place shortly after the neurotoxin attack on that very day and Rattmann only pushed her name to the top of the list of test subjects and then put her back in stasis _after_ the first game. Not that he put a child in a relaxation vault and then survived inside Aperture for multiple years until Chell was grown up

    The parents theory could actually be the reason why GlaDOS freaked out, even with the Morality cores attached. Caroline could have put her in the care of a trusted employee, given the line "Science has agreed with your mothers decision to leave you on a doorstep."
    Cave was never a family person. Caroline knew that, but when true morality hit her, being forced into GlaDOS and seeing her own daughter under another's care. Psychotic break.

    tbh i’m not a fan of the caroline and cave being chell’s family theory, but it is very possible.
    i’m just gonna add something to that.
    we all saw chell’s potato battery project thingy and we all saw it is enormous. her project was different from the other kids’ projects..
    now, i saw someone managing to read what the other writings on her project said. (the ones on the right)
    it says “a secret ingredient from daddy’s office”
    now we don’t know who chell’s father is, but..
    cave was known for being, well.. cave. he didnt mind doing inhumane things for science and i bet he wouldn’t mind adding something special to chell’s potato battery thingy in order to make it outstanding.
    another good point is ever since glados found out about caroline, glados’ approach/attitude towards us, chell, did a whole 180, that’s without a doubt.
    in the end, glados stated that killing chell would be hard.
    how is that?
    chell was literally standing in front of her, possibly injured, tired and without any weapon. the room she was in had a non-portal surface.
    she could’ve killed her in a second.
    now, the turret opera.
    the whole thing sounds like something a mother would say to her kid.
    last, but not least, the song which was supposed to be an easter egg, i think.
    the name is “don’t say goodbye”
    ellen (VA of glados) and her husband made it together for an easter egg, but it never made it into the game.
    glados sounds very motherly in the song as well.

      Interesting theory however with portal releasing in 2007, years after half life 1 and 2, you'd think the g man character, after appearing in multiple half life games by this point, already had his secret backstory in place behind the scenes by valve, this would have to suggest that through years of half life games that valve actually had no idea what to do with the backstory of g man and didn't have one, and only decided to go down the aperture labs path as a huge afterthought

    A summary of portal:
    You play as Shell, the silent monster that’s trapped in hell and your only friend is an inanimate object that’s actually the most important character in this entire game. After combusting Ms. Malicious potatoes you get knocked out and dragged back down to hell. Portal 2, You meet the Tyrant Core a.k.a wheat. After a while you meet the corpse of Glados who isn’t very glad to be alive. After a while you get to the control room and make wheat take control of everything but he decides to be a douche canoe and not let you escape. Then Unglados shows off her Pickle Rick cosplay and you both fall a long fall and snap your neck on planks. YOUWAKEUP! Your looking for your autotune potato and save a defect sentry from death. He tells you about how Prometheus got his liver stolen by Mario and it never returned. Later, you find your prized potato getting it’s starchy liver eaten by birds. You impale the potato to your gun and go through the rest of the game. You make it back to the control room with Tyrant Core stealing Glados’ “unlethal” neurotoxin and snorting it all up and convincing you to do it. Potato helps Shell tack 3 special cores to Wheat: Hillbilly, Collage Professor, and *SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCE.* after Tyrant Ted breaks more of the facility you get the brilliant idea to attach a portal to the moon and everything gets sucked in. You hold on to wheat and after some more help from Glados who’s glad she got her body restored. Makes Wheat fly forever in the far far infinite reaches of space. But before he got launched Space Chimp who i mentioned earlier finally got his wish and will forever be happy in the depths of space. After that Glados tells you to politely get out of her life forever. And one beautiful Turret Orchestra later you’re free and back into the light of the outside world. Oh but before you leave, Glados gives you Companion Cube as a go away gift. And they lived happily ever after.

    My theory is that there ARE people in the cubes, but not in the way we've been thinking. On the second attack, it was bring your CAT to work day. Glados proposes an experiment with cats and boxes to acquire neurotoxin. Stop right there. That's Schrodinger's Cat. We've got something to work with right there. Now. How do you keep a cat, within a box, in a quantum state between life or death? In this day, it's just a hypothetical. But in Aperture, we take shit to the extreme. A computer is often box shaped. Let's put a cat's brain in a computer. So my theory is that the weighted storage cubes and the companion cubes are like, an advanced form of supercomputer made for storing someone's brain. And I believe the hearts are a sort of marking system, to mark down important ones, and the regular cubes were probably blanks. At one point. Glados probably put all the cats in companion cubes, as that very thing was her way of getting what she wanted, it was a momentous occasion. Whereas the blanks probably had the dead scientists' brains stored in them so she could do whatever she wanted to them after. Again. And again. And again. Now, you might have some questions about this theory. Like, why are the cubes so heavy? One. Advanced. Compacted. Supercomputer. Secondly. Aperture had reoccurring problems with Black Mesa stealing their tech. I wouldn't put it past Cave Johnson to just come up with the solution of making everything that's important weigh a metric fuck ton. That is so hilariously absurd it has got to be the actual answer.
    (Edit)
    Also, I'm pretty sure the intelligence core just explained word for word some of the tools they probably used on Carolyn in the process of transferring her consciousness, so yay, manmade horrors beyond comprehension.

    Problem i have with the companion cube theory is he seem to not play the game as a simple debunk is by putting the cude though the barrier which don't effect human tissue
    And pat said if you put the cube though the barrier a human would drop out which never happens in 1 or 2
    And glados mocking the cude can be 2 things
    1.refencing rat man
    2.how she had feelings for cave but her now being a emotionless robot made her loose her feelings and anything referred to it like the heart on the cube bring hate

    • @Sacrow
      @Sacrow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The companion cube specifically doesn't have a barrier in either room that you use them. Though I highly doubt a human body would fall out. That was be a little too dark even for valve.

    • @kingkaza
      @kingkaza 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sacrow in portal 2 glados destroys the cube if you try to take it with you that dose same effect as a barrier would
      And is proven glados can't get rid of a human body
      Also of you watch matpat video carefully he contradicts himself so many times and this was the era matpat fans noticed he didn't d well script wise especially with fnaf which why the respond videos that came
      But he did soon improve and became less contradictory (despite still some bad theory's or errors that was in his own proof)
      But ye no way the cude would have bodys also this was under caves programming and even the cave theory shows he is crazy with pointless researching (seriously a very funny, dark and amazing theory) he won't reuse bodys for tests if they die... They die and binned like any other test subjects.... Unless they are worth researching for nonsense

    • @jakdekayen
      @jakdekayen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Please be advised that a noticeable taste of blood is not part of any test protocol but is an unintended side effect of the Aperture Science Material Emancipation Grill, which may, in semi- rare cases, emancipate dental fillings, crowns, tooth enamel, and teeth."
      And straight from the portal wiki
      An unforeseen consequence of repeated use of the Emancipation Grill has shown to emancipate teeth, tooth enamel, crowns, fillings, and ear canals
      Safe to say, considering it can dissolve certain bodily tissues, the body would be most likely burned in the cube, along with the cube itself, if there were a body inside.
