It's incredible, the way everything in today's world like a plastic bottle cap, is taken for granted. If only people knew, just how much design engineering, big money, precision tools and machinery, skilled manpower, specialized materials, and everything like forklifts that support a factory, everything that goes into the creation of a cheap, throwaway bottle cap

Good job. we are injection mold maker as well.
I'm working with the local civil protection director to make a prototype of a torpedo style rescue floatation device to be donated and mounted on natural wood posts at our most historically dangerous beaches.
These torpedoes are abusively priced ($150 USD), not available locally here in México and not available in all-natural materials but I'm working to change that.
We need a local bioplastics supplier with materials well suited for this purpose with sheet plastic that can be manually heat-formed over a mold. And for a much larger scale impact, we need an estimate of the cost of mold that could be used with recycled plastics, bioplastics and biodegradable plastics also to injection mold them for us. If we can raise the funds to pay for the mold ourselves, the devices can be relatively very inexpensive which will make them very accessible and help save lives everywhere they're used.

It's a good paying mechanical job. And pretty easy to get into without an education. Ask me how I know 😎😂

Gotta appreciate that companies in China only charge a mold cost of $2000 for handheld sized items.

Why do we use EDM and not directly make it using VMC?
For lots of reasons. Mainly you can't make sharp corners with VMC as your cutting tool diameter will appear in every inner corner it cuts. Therefore you use EDM to make sharp corners. EDM is a slow process but the accuracy is insane! Especially if it's not outdated machinery from the 90s like shown is this video
