    I just learned of the C1000S yesterday as I am about to embark on some video production. I've seen MKII or LED versions online. This helped explain the basic differences quite clearly. Thank you!

      ALSO, if you are interested in mics of this "type" the RØDE M3 is similar and the RØDE NT3 is GREAT! I hope to get a comparison video out about "stick mics' this month, so stay tuned. peace

    Great video! I bought a C 1000 original series new in the 90ies and used it for live vocals quite a bit. Still use it, its a workhorse and the polar pattern adapter and battery mode do come in handy every now and then!

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I am working on a "Stick Mic" vid comparing the other mics with this basic configuration, (onboard battery or phantom power). They used to be very useful going directly into remote tape decks or other without phantom. My film students will often use the c1000s on battery with a ZOOM H2N for quick and dirty field recording or SFX gathering.

    Very interesting video. Picked one of these up today very cheaply. Think it is an Austrian made LED model. Haven't actually got the LED to work yet, but the mic works fine on phantom power. Thanks 😀 👍

      Cool, an old one, but not ancient. Have you tried it with a battery yet? Remember, the LED remains on when the battery is almost gone. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @redcabinacoustic-official Just tried a fresh battery and it does light up briefly as expected. One of the other ones I tried before was too dead to light up at all. Thanks 😀 👍

    I have the C1000…Seldom use it…May get it out for a re-listen…….a very well made microphone….I purchased it used, so not sure of the year……thanks

      You should be able to determine the decade, probably not the year . . . If you get it out of storage check the capsule to see if one of the widgets is installed, there are also many modification videos on YT if you decide to experiment . . . Again, thanks for watching and taking the time to reply. peace

    Great video as always! Question... is the capsule mount on all 4 versions the same? I have the mkii version and mine was a rubber like fitting that went over a round, very short "T" shaped extrusion from the plastic battery housing part. When i was doing my video I ran into a lot of the same bad info on the mic... hope i didn't reiterate any of it. The mic hacks one was particularly confusing since I KNEW that the original was black with the green ring. Not sure if you bumped into the guy that was cutting the head baskets down in your research, but that was painful to watch. Any time i mod something, i try to make it so the mod is at minimum reversible (so if you dont like it you can always go back to square one). Keep bein awesome!

      Thanks for watching and commenting - I will check and let you know about differences in capsule mounting. I think I know the answer, but don't want to put it in print until I confirm. Yes, I saw the mods that included cutting and gutting. 🤨 I too like reversible options. If I ever find dead mics cheap, (that are the same as ones I own), I pick them up so I can mod my good mics with spare parts. It would be nice to have a couple of spare bodies, or at least the tops to the c1000s. Recording Hacks and Sound on Sound are typically pretty good, when I see an error I just usually mutter, "Damn Kids."

    I have 3 of the C 1000s mark IV' . i use them in a home studio setup. i think they're really good and versatile . one of them makes a thumping sound now and is unuseable. too expensive to fix. i would not buy used ones in the future and would encourage anyone to use these in a home studio. if you're only using at the home studio level they are great in my opinion.

      They were really above average when they were introduced, but like many products they have been surpassed by other building on their concepts. The RØDE M3 and NT3 are good mics in the same style.

      Thanks for watching and commenting, buying used is always a risk, but I know an AKG engineer, so I am not too concerned. Richard Land if you need repairs. Peace

    Can't they run on phantom power?

    • @redcabinacoustic-official
      @redcabinacoustic-official  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, I mention that they can run on batteries or phantom power at about 2:36.
